Ch. 36 [Blood Moon] Elven Library

Ch. 36 [Blood Moon] Elven Library

After they entered the ancient section the ground started shaking, and the heavy door closed. Both Hayato and Marcus fell to the floor and tried to find some cover because the shelves and the books started falling. After a couple of minutes, the whole room was a mess.

*Push*

*Yell*

(Hayato) - Marcus!

*Push*

(Marcus) - I am fine!

(Hayato) - How do we get out of here?

(Marcus) - First, let's see if we find anything about why we came here in the first place.

(Hayato) - Fine.

*Step*

*Grab*

They tried to sort the books somewhat out and find anything related to the cursed tomes. But there was no book like that.

(Hayato) - I found something!

*Step*

(Marcus) - What is it?

(Hayato) - Do you know anything about this?

(Marcus) - "Shefulkama" I have never heard that name before.

(Hayato) - It is a whole book that tells the story of a great elven archer and his bow.

(Marcus) - Why would a child storybook be here, in the ancient section?

(Hayato) - I have no idea.

The bow on the book started glowing.

(Marcus) - What is that?

*Shrugs*

The book started moving. Hayato dropped it on the floor and the bow stopped glowing.

(Marcus) - This is strange.

Hayato picked it up again and the book started acting strange again. This time the book opened by itself on a page.

(Hayato) - "Rumored to be crafted by the hands of the Gods, from carved wood provided by Yggdrasil, and spider silk from Arachne, this bow has the power to pierce anything, including the evil souls of the wielder's enemies."

(Marcus) - Do you think such a bow exists?

(Hayato) - I don't know. It is also mentioned that the Elven kind had been searching for this bow for centuries after the death of Shefulkuma. But there was nothing more.

(Marcus) - I have never heard of such a thing.

(Hayato) - Do you think that maybe the Old Elf knows?

(Marcus) - It is our best bet at this point.

(Hayato) - I will take this book with me.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

(Marcus) - We should keep searching, maybe we missed something.

After a couple more hours of sorting through the books, there was nothing that caught their eye. The text on Hayato kept glowing and shaking.

*Creek*

The heavy door started moving pushing away the books blocking it. It was the Old Elf along with a couple of guards.

(Old Elf) - What happened here?

Marcus explained the situation and Hayato asked the Old Elf about the book. When the Old Elf saw the book glowing and shaking, he took both Marcus and Hayato to the king. On their way to the king, Marcus tried to ask several times why, but the Old Elf was just shaking his head left and right. When they reached the king the guards stopped them.

(Old Elf) - We have to see the king, it is urgent.

(Elven King) - Let them pass.

The Old Elf took the book from Hayato and the book stopped acting. They were confused. Then Hayato picked up the book again and it started glowing once more. Marcus told the king what happened in the library and the Old Elf also informed the king about the Euda events.

While they were talking an owl flew in the room. It was Olaf owl with the message for Hayato. The owl patiently sat on the edge of a chair while the others were talking. After the Olf Elf finished telling the information to the king, the owl flew on Hayato's shoulder.

(Hayato) - Oh.

*Pick up the message*

(Marcus) - What does it say?

(Hayato) - This is bad.

Hayato told them what was on the message, about the blood moon and what Sol found in the Euda library. But there was nothing related to the events.

(Marcus) - Do you think this book is related to the Blood Moon somehow?

(Elven King) - No!

(Hayato) - What is it then?

(Elven King) - The book chose you, it has been our greatest weapon for centuries.

(Hayato) - Why did it choose me?

(Elven King) - If this Blood Moon is going to happen, perhaps you will be the one to fight on our behalf. Lead the elven armies into the battle.

(Hayato) - How do I find this bow?

*Stand*

*Step*

*Grab*

(Elven King) - This might help you.

(Hayato) - How?

(Elven King) - Use the book.

Hayato put the book near the old map and there was a red line leading where everyone assumed it was the bow.

(Marcus) - We should hurry.

(Hayato) - Yes.

The old map was leading them further and further away from the Elven kingdom. The more they walked the more the map was changed.

(Marcus) - Are you sure we are going in the right direction? I feel like we are walking in circles.

(Hayato) - Take a look yourself.

*Grab*

(Marcus) - The map changed a lot, what happened?

(Hayato) - It kept changing like this for the past hours.

*Step*

(Hayato) - For now, let's just keep going.

After a couple more hours the map stopped changing and in the distance, they could see some ruins.

(Hayato) - I think there is a spot.

(Marcus) - Finally.

(Hayato) - Let's take a break before we get closer.

*Sit*

(Hayato) - What do you think is there?

(Marcus) - I don't know, I have not been around these parts.

After catching their breath they went towards the ruins. As they got closer the sky was becoming darker and darker. A thick mist started forming around them and only the light from the book was guiding them through the mist. They arrived at the location and the map returned itself to its old form.

(Hayato) - We are here, but there is nothing but rubble.

(Marcus) - Are you sure this is the right place?

(Hayato) - This is where the map was pointing.

(Marcus) - Let's look around, maybe there is something.

Hayato walked around with the book and noticed that the light became stronger when he was walking North.

(Hayato) - I think I found something, follow me.

The book was shining brighter than ever, and then the mist started dissipating. In front of them, an old wood door appeared out of nowhere with the symbol of the bow. Hayato put the book closer to the door and it opened. A gust of wind and howling noises came out of the door giving them shivers down the spine.

(Marcus) - I think we found the place.

*Step*

(Hayato) - We don't have time to lose, be prepared for anything.

They entered the door and it slammed shut behind them, disappearing. There were a bunch of stairs leading in different directions. The book started shaking and doors started appearing, one after another.

(Marcus) - Great, five doors, which one should we go through?

(Hayato) - Wait!

The book opened itself to a page where it was mentioned the doors and their symbols. They were trials for the next successor of the bow.
