The Seer took The Guardian and the other guards away from there and The Berserk went in.
*Sniff*
*Sniff*
(The Berserk) - This. . . Smell. . . Is. . . Foul. . .
*Step*
*Step*
*Thud*
*Clink*
The Berserk pulled out his iron claws and started to rub them. A beast with red eyes resembling blood, the head was split open and tentacles came out of it, moving around relentlessly, the front legs looked like humans and the back legs were animal legs, similar to a rare breed of bird. The tail was long and thin and at its end there was a mouth with jagged sheets. It was a horrifying beast.
The beast moved around the library spitting venom over the books and destroying everything around. The Berserk slowly approached the beast without making a sound. The beast smelled him and turned around its head towards The Berserk. In a split second, the beast jumped on him and tried to bite his head off. The Berserk pushed the beast out of him and tried to slash through its hard skin. But the attempt of slashing through the beast failed and one of The Berserk claws broke. The beast started to make a noise that shook the entire church blowing everyone at the entrance to the library away.
(The Mist) - What was that sound?
(The Emotionless) - The thing that injured The Guardian.
(The Silver Ash) - It must be powerful.
*Nod*
(The Seer) - Will The Berserk be fine?
(The Emotionless) - I am praying for his safe return.
(The Mirage) - Shouldn't we go and help him?
(The Seer) - The Berserk fights alone.
The noises continued to come from inside the library. After a while, a loud thud silenced the whole church.
(The Truth) - Is this a good sign?
(The Seer) - The fight might be over.
Sounds of steps approaching the entrance where everyone was waiting for The Berserk's return, the beast emerges from the shadows and tries to jump on them. The Silver Ash pulled out his sword and threw the beast back inside the library in one swing.
*Shaking*
(The Mist) - What was that?
(The Silver Ash) - I have no idea.
*Point*
(The Seer) - Your sword!
The Silver Ash sword was covered in the beast's poison, and the poison started to erode the blade.
(The Emotionless) - If that thing is still alive, then The Berserk failed.
(The Clairvoyant) - We should go.
(The Silver Ash) - The beast looked weakened.
(The Seer) - Now is our chance to strike!
The chosen ones picked their strongest apprentice and went to the library. When they entered and saw all the damage and The Berserk missing they were all in shock.
(The Truth) - Where is The Berserk?
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
*Step*
*Kneel*
*Sniff*
(The Seer) - More importantly, where is the beast?
(The Emotionless) - They are not here anymore.
(The Mirage) - How can you tell?
(The Emotionless) - Their smell, is not anywhere close.
The Emotionless conjured a spell that enhanced his smell before they entered the library.
(The Mist) - What should we do?
(The Emotionless) - Right now we should wait until The Guardian heals so that he can tell us what happened.
(The Silver Ash) - I saw his new apprentice running in the hallway with your apprentice earlier.
(The Seer) - The Guardian apprentice asked me to bring you here, they might know something.
(The Emotionless) - I will search for them later.
(The High Priest) - I will clean up here.
(The Mist) - This is all your fault priest.
(The Emotionless) - We should not start a war between ourselves now, there is something bigger coming.
(The Seer) - He is right, no need to point fingers when we witness such a creature.
(The Silver Ash) - Not to mention this creature bested both The Guardian and The Berserk.
*Step*
*Pat on the shoulder*
*Whisper*
The Emotionless told The High Priest.
(The Emotionless) - Find me later.
*Step*
*Vanish*
(The Seer) - I will remain here and help The High Priest, you should strengthen the defenses of the church.
(The Silver Ash) - I will take The Guardian to the infirmary.
After they cleaned up the library, almost nothing was left. The books were all burned, dissolved, or unreadable, and all of them were from the black magic section. As if the beast knew. The High Priest was worried about The Emotionless Words, but The Seer confronted him and said it might not be as bad as he thinks.
Later that day The High Priest met with Sol.
(The High Priest) - How is The Guardian feeling?
(Sol) - He is still unconscious.
*Sigh*
(The High Priest) - Do you know anything about Anais?
(Sol) - She should be in her room. Is something wrong?
(The High Priest) - The Emotionless told me to find him later, but I have a bad feeling about this.
(Sol) - I am sure it will be fine. I heard from The Seer that he also wants to meet with us.
(The High Priest) - What if he knows about our plan?
(Sol) - After what happened in the library, it is unlikely he will think about what we were up to.
While Sol was talking with The High Priest, someone was eavesdropping. It was The Truth. After they finished their conversation, The Truth rushed to The Emotionless telling him about Sol and The High Priest's discussion.
The next day The Guardian woke up and everyone was happy to see him well. Sol was on his way towards the infirmary. The Emotionless also got the news, but he had other priorities. He wanted to meet with Sol, The High Priest, and Anais as soon as possible after hearing The Truth's claims that were out of context.
The Truth thought that they were behind the attacks on the church and it also happened in The High Priest's territory, in the black magic section.
*Step*
*Step*
The High Priest was approaching the meeting room expecting to see everyone else in it, but he was alone.
*Thinking*
(The High Priest) - Am I too early?
After a while Anais and Sol also entered the room.
(Sol) - Where are the others?
(The High Priest) - I thought that I was too early.
The doors locked behind them and they couldn't leave. They started banging on the door, and then The Emotionless appeared in the middle of the room.
(The Emotionless) - Welcome!
*Step*
*Step*
(Sol) - What is the meaning of this?
(The Emotionless) - I heard something interesting last night, from The Truth.
*Step*
(The Emotionless) - A conversation between The High Priest and his former apprentice.
(The High Priest) - It is not what you think.
(The Emotionless) - Then, would you care to explain?
*Stutters*
(Sol) - What did The Truth tell you?
(The Emotionless) - About a plan between you too, and considering all the events, I assume it had to do with the beast and everything that happened in the black magic section yesterday.
(Anais) - That was not their fault.
(The Emotionless) - Silence!
(The High Priest) - I might not be trusted by the other chosen ones, but I will never endanger the Euda faith and its people.
(The Emotionless) - Then what is the plan you were talking about?
(Sol) - We should tell him.
(The High Priest) - We assumed one of the higher ones was behind the cursed tome Sol found and we wanted to keep an eye on you.
(The Emotionless) - This happened when you were accused of abusing your apprentices?
(Anais) - Yes!
(The Emotionless) - Then what caused the events from yesterday?
Sol and The High Priest sat and explained The Emotionless about everything in detail and their assumptions. Then everything became clear to The Emotionless. He understood that their intentions were not ill-intended towards the Euda and that it was their only way to find out more about the provenience of the cursed tome.
