Ch. 32 [Blood Moon] Doubts

The next day The Emotionless called up a meeting and expressed his feelings about what happened the previous day. He mentioned that The High Priest was ill-accused by his fellow chosen ones and that his intentions were not related to the past events. The Emotionless assigned back his apprentices and openly told The Seer and The Silver Ash to join the black magic research.

(The Mist) - This is outrageous!

(The Truth) - They are working with the evil!

(The Clairvoyant) - Everything happened after they mingled with the black magic.

(The Emotionless) - Silence!

The room became quiet. The Emotionless went in the middle of the room. Everyone was looking at him.

(The Emotionless) - You dare question my decisions?

With a shaky voice, The Truth asked for forgiveness.

(The High Priest) - We shall not fight between ourselves in this dire time. We should join forces and solve the problems we are currently facing. I am not asking anyone to forcefully do it, but I will welcome anyone who wants to help me and my apprentices.

(The Seer) - He is right, we should cooperate now better than ever because one of us is badly injured and one is missing.

(The Silver Ash) - Anyone willing to join me in search for The Berserk?

The Mist along with The Mirage raised their hands.

(The Seer) - I will join The High Priest in the black magic research and assess the damage done to the library.

(The Emotionless) - Everyone else who does not have an assignment will start reinforcing the church's defenses.

*Step*

*Whisper*

(The High Priest) - What will you do in the meantime?

*Whisper*

(The Emotionless) - I will wait beside The Guardian and tell him about today.

Then everyone left the room leaving only Anais and Sol alone.

(Sol) - I probably should get going.

(Anais) - Where to?

(Sol) - Towards the capital, it's quite a long way and I need to tell the others about what just happened.

(Anais) - I want to come with you.

(Sol) - It is probably safer for you to remain here, the chosen ones are strong and The High Priest needs all the support for the next couple of days.

*Sigh*

(Anais) - When will you leave?

(Sol) - I need to talk with The Emotionless about it.

After that, they left and went towards the black magic section, where The High Priest and The Seer were taking notes and sorting what was left of the books in the black magic section.

*Step*

(The High Priest) - Sol, have you seen the cursed tome?

(Sol) - Now that you mention it, I forgot where I left it.

(The Seer) - I wanted to take a look at what was mentioned in it.

(Sol) - Let me check my room, I might have left it between my notes.

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

Sol left towards his room and saw The Truth and The Clairvoyant talking in the hallway. Sol passed them and heard them talking about The High Priest and The Emotionless, but he couldn't make much of it.

When he got to his room, the room was upside down as if someone had gotten there already. Sol desperately searched for the cursed tome or the notes, but they were nowhere to be found. He didn't know what happened, and who would have done something like this. Then he remembered something showing on The Truth belt, that resembled the cursed tome.

Sol started running but by the time he got there, they were gone. He went back to the library and told The Seer and The High Priest. They were shocked to hear what Sol had to say and they hurried and searched for them.

Sol started to get worried because he remembered what happened with the previous cursed tome, and that he got manipulated by the entity inside it. Not after too long Sol saw The Clairvoyant at the entrance to the cafeteria.

(Sol) - Wait!

The Clairvoyant stopped.

(The Clairvoyant) - What is it?

(Sol) - Where is The Truth?

(The Clairvoyant) - I don't know.

(Sol) - I have seen you two not long ago.

(The Clairvoyant) - I said I don't know.

And he pushed Sol away.

(Sol) - I know you were in my room.

The Clairvoyant turns back and approaches Sol slowly.

(The Clairvoyant) - Who are you to question a chosen one motive, hm?

(Sol) - You stole my notes and the cursed tome!

(The Clairvoyant) - We only took back what was ours, to begin with.

(Sol) - Yours?

The Clairvoyant was silent for a moment.

(The Clairvoyant) - I said too much.

*Step*

*Step*

(Sol) - Where are you going?

(The Clairvoyant) - None of your business!

Sol immediately went to The Emotionless and told him about what happened. He was speechless. He had never seen those two acting like that before. The Emotionless called for those two to come into the meeting room. When those two came The Emotionless and Sol were waiting for them.

(The Emotionless) - Care to explain what happened?

(The Truth) - What happened?

They were acting clueless.

(Sol) - You stole the cursed tome and my notes.

(The Clairvoyant) - You accuse us of stealing, where is your proof?

(The Emotionless) - There is no need for proof.

(The Truth) - But -

And The Truth was interrupted by the door opening.

Everyone in the room was shocked to see The Truth opening the door.

(The Emotionless) - What is the meaning of this?

The one that opened the door started running. The Clairvoyant conjured a bunch of chains and stopped him before he got away. He was struggling but he could not escape. When he was brought to the room he started melting into some kind of mud or goo.

(The Emotionless) - Someone framed you two.

(Sol) - I can't believe what I just saw.

Each one of them is more confused than the other.

(The Truth) - You said you saw me having the what was it called?

(Sol) - Cursed tome.

(The Truth) - That. But I was not anywhere close to the area you described.

(The Clairvoyant) - Neither do I remember meeting with you at the cafeteria.

(Sol) - That means I was talking with someone that looked similar to you.

(The Emotionless) - But why them?

(The Truth) - I have no idea.

(Sol) - In any case, we still do not have the book or the notes.

(The Emotionless) - We should keep searching, now that we know what happened here we should be more careful about our approach. There might be more disguised.

(Sol) - How will we know who is real and who is not?

(The Truth) - More importantly, we should find out what their goal is.

(The Emotionless) - They seemed to target the cursed tome. But if they had it, why were they still around?

(The Clairvoyant) - What if they could not leave yet?

(Sol) - You mean there is a portal somewhere that is not yet opened?

They thought about it and everyone at the same time said.

(Everyone) - The library!

And they rushed to the library in the black magic section as soon as possible. While they were going there, The High Priest was just leaving.

(The High Priest) - Why the rush?

(Sol) - Something happened, we don't have time to explain.

(The High Priest) - Wait, I just saw you going in a few moments ago.

(The Clairvoyant) - It was not me.

The High Priest was confused.

(Sol) - We should hurry!

They rushed in and the creature that took the shape of The Clairvoyant was chanting something. The Emotionless stopped him and restrained him in a barrier. The creature started banging on the barrier but with no luck. Then like the other one it started melting, leaving behind the cursed tome.

(The Emotionless) - We made it just in time.

(Sol) - We need to put this cursed tome under surveillance.

(The Truth) - I agree!

(The Emotionless) - Now that we have seen what the black magic is capable of, I assign both of you to watch over anything unusual and protect the cursed tome.

Both The Clairvoyant and The Truth nodded and accepted their new mission. The High Priest witnessed what happened and was curious about the creature or the spell that caused that to happen. Before The Emotionless left Sol told him about his leaving. But he already knew, because Anais already asked for his permission to accompany Sol.
