Ch. 13 [Silent Forest] First Awakening

Everyone from the village was looking at the Elemental terrified. As the Elemental approached the village, Olaf and his friends prepared to face it. Ryuji wanted to help, but Olaf had other plans for him and told him to evacuate everyone in the village. Olaf saw potential in Ryuji and did not want to waste it on a fight that was not winnable.

The Elemental started ravaging the village, destroying the houses and leaving only rubble behind him.

*Swoosh*

*Clink*

*Hit*

(Hitashi Olaf) - On your left!

*Dodge*

*Jump*

*Roll*

(Archer) - Thanks!

*Yell*

(Hitashi Olaf) - Everyone, keep your guard up.

(Hitashi Olaf) - Do not underestimate it.

(Mage) - He is the biggest Elemental I faced. Nothing works on him.

*Spark*

*Hit*

*Thud*

(Paladin) - We need to get out of here!

(Hitashi Olaf) - Not until everyone is safe.

*Hit*

*Thud*

The fight was fierce, but they were hanging on. While the villagers were slowly going towards the river, Ryuji went back and did not listen to Olaf. One earthquake after another rocks flew left and right, and the village was getting destroyed by the Elemental.

Ryuji picked up a sword and started charging toward the Elemental.

(Hitashi Olaf) - Get back!

(Paladin) - Don't go!

Everyone was shocked by his action, but they could not stop it. The Elemental waved his hand and threw Ryuji into a house, leaving him unconscious on the ground.

*Yell*

(Hitashi Olaf) - Someone, get him out of there!

(Hitashi Olaf) - Anyone!

The Mage, Archer, and Paladin were trying to keep the Elemental busy, and Olaf was not able to move, he was too scared. And out of nowhere, a villager started running towards Ryuji, with a spark of hope for Olaf. It was Ryuji's uncle that had the incredible courage to face the threat and try to rescue him. But as he approached Ryuji something started happening with him. Ryuji got up by himself, opened his eyes, and he was talking in the ancient language. His eyes were glowing a bright blue.

Awaken. . .

Ryuji heard once again the voice, and went in a dream state, talking with the white hooded lady.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - What happened?

(Lady) - You got attacked by an Elemental.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - Ah. . . I remember that.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - What am doing here?

(Lady) - I brought you here.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - Why?

(Lady) - Let me help you.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - How?

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

(Lady) - Take my hand.

*Holds out her hand*

*Grab*

And after a split second, Ryuji got unimaginable powers. He walked towards the Elemental and punched him. The Elemental started to shake. Ryuji grabbed the Elemental arm and broke it without even sweating. Everyone looked at Ryuji in disbelief as he was beating the Elemental barehanded. Ryuji punched the Elemental once again and pulled some kind of shining stone out of him. That was the core of the Elemental, keeping him in the form of a creature.

After he pulled out the stone, the Elemental started to crumble and stopped moving. Everyone was cheering and was happy to see it happening. It was over, they won the fight.

But something happened that no one would have expected. Ryuji took the stone and started eating it. And then his eyes stopped glowing and he passed out.

(Lady) - You still need to learn to control your powers.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - How? Why? What happened?

Ryuji had so many questions that no one was able to answer them at that point.

(Lady) - This was only the first step.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - First step to what?

(Lady) - We will meet again.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - Wait!

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - No!

The white hooded lady vanished, leaving Ryuji alone. He didn't know he was still in a dream state and started to walk around. He thought everything was a dream, and returned to his normal daily routine. But when he went into the forest, he started to remember and feel the environment. He walked around and went to the cottage where Raiden was waiting for him.

*Door close*

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - What happened?

(Raiden) - What do you mean?

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - I have seen you die.

(Raiden) - But I am dead.

*Sigh*

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - So this was a dream after all.

(Raiden) - Yes.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - How do I get out of here?

(Raiden) - You just need time to rest.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - What about the hooded lady?

(Raiden) - You will meet her again.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - When?

(Raiden) - When you will be ready.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - I have no idea what I have to do, how can I know when I am ready?

*Shrug*

*Sigh*

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - I guess I will have to wait then.

*Step*

*Step*

Then Ryuji went back to the village. He waited and waited, and waited. And a year passed in the dream, and nothing else happened. The same routine every single day. He decided to go back to the Raiden's cottage again. As he was approaching the cottage, the forest started howling, the wind blowing in his face, and a weird sensation of warmth covered him.

Ryuji fell down to his knees and started crying. And then he opened his eyes. He was back to reality. He was laying down in his bed, in his old house.

*Loud thud*

*Hit*

*Hit*

*Step*

*Step*

Ryuji walked out of the room and saw the remaining villagers working and rebuilding the village along with Olaf and his crew. Ryuji's uncle saw him standing at the door and started running toward him.

*Running*

*Hug*

(Itsuki Toya) - I am glad you are alive!

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - Me too.

(Itsuki Toya) - What happened?

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - You won't believe me, even if I were to tell you.

(Itsuki Toya) - I have a feeling you are right.

(Itsuki Toya) - Your friends were a big help these days.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - How long was I, you know. . . ?

(Itsuki Toya) - Two whole weeks.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - Two weeks?

(Itsuki Toya) - We thought you would not wake up.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - Add one more to that list, because I didn't think I would wake up either.

*Step*

*Step*

(Hitashi Olaf) - Would you give us a moment?

(Itsuki Toya) - Sure!

*Step*

*Whisper*

(Hitashi Olaf) - I found it.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - What?

(Hitashi Olaf) - The book that was mentioned was hidden in the forest.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - That is good news, but where did you find it?

(Hitashi Olaf) - It was inside the Elemental. After you beat it, I searched the remains and there was the book.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - What else happened in the fight?

(Hitashi Olaf) - Besides you acting weird, and saving everyone, not much.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - Well, I have no memory of it, would you like to explain?

And they sat down as Olaf told Ryuji everything that happened. Ryuji was shocked to hear what he did, but at the same time, he was happy that everyone was safe.

*Stand*

(Hitashi Olaf) - After we are done here, would you join us for the capital?

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - Capital?

(Hitashi Olaf) - I need to report what happened here and see what this book contains.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - Why me?

(Hitashi Olaf) - I think there is no need to explain that your powers will be needed.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - But I have no idea how to control them.

(Hitashi Olaf) - Then we will teach you.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - We?

(Hitashi Olaf) - You think you are the only one that has powers?

*Smirk*

(Hitashi Olaf) - Anyway, think about it. But I hope you will join us.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - I don't need to think.

(Yoshimoto Ryuji) - I will come!

Olaf was pleased to hear Ryuji's answer, and so were the ones from Olaf's crew. But the most important person that was pleased to hear it was the white hooded lady that was listening to their conversation from within Ryuji.
