Chapter 24

Razor sat with his phone to his ear as Tsukiko looked on with an eyebrow raised. He put up a hand to stall any question from her as he listened.

“Fine,” He said with a sigh, “But you are going to be our rear guard.”

More silence as he listened, “Yes Autumn, I do know what’s at stake and know you need to stay there. Dad went out sometime after the prison raid and hasn’t come back.”

“Good. Just keep an eye out for an attack.”

His eyes went wide then narrowed, “Don’t you Duh! Me! Hey!!!”

Razor took the phone from his ear and turned back to the table with a long breath. He pulled the beard off and glanced toward the bathroom, “The forces are in place and scouting shows nothing where we expected nothing, and there is some sort of magical look-away barrier around the other.”

“Oh?” Tsukiko raised an eyebrow.

“Yeah,” Razor said, “I have a plan, but I’m going to go get them first.”

She looked back at the bathroom, “Want me to get them? Your sister took them into the ladies room.”

“No, that’s never stopped me before.” He chuffs before grabbing one of the glasses of ice water and throwing it into his face. She shivered slightly and wiped the water from her face, “That better?”

“That is still so weird to watch,” Tsukiko grinned.

Shrugging her shoulders Razor stood, “Well I’ll be right back.”

Tsukiko watched her ass as she walked into the bathroom and sighed.

Razor pushed the door open to see Herro pushing Summer up against the wall and kissing her, hard. Razor slid into the shadows and watched as he fumbled with the clasp of her bra. She gasped as his hands slipped up inside her shirt, foregoing taking the garment off completely in favor of simply moving it aside. She ran her nails across his shirt as they continued to kiss.

Razor grinned and stepped forward before coughing. Herro leapt back and seemed to come back to himself. Both sets of eyes glared at her, so raising her hands she said, “Hey now. I just came in to tell you two that everything's ready so we can go take out the local headquarters. You two were the ones making out where anyone could see you should they walk in.”

“Well sister could have knocked or something,” Summer said dryly, fixing her blouse and her hair.

“In a public multi-stall restroom,” Razor looked at her with the same dry tone in her voice, “In the patio of a restaurant. Yeah, Next time.”

Herro looked around, like he just realized where he was, “Oh. Uhh I hope no one else walks in on us.”

“Here,” Razor rolled her eyes and turned on a faucet. Cupping her hands below the flow of water she splashed it towards Herro.

“Hey!” He started, his objection going higher pitched as Herra glared at her, “That was kind of mean.”

Opening the door and leading the two other women out, Razor shrugged, “Ehh, we can get some hot water on the way.”

The trio stopped beside the table, to Tsukiko sitting with half a stalk of asparagus in her mouth. She quickly sucked it up into her mouth.

With a chuckle and hand on her hip, Razor asked, “Are you enjoying the fare?”

“Oh Yeph.” She replied with her mouth full.

“Good,” Razor waved over a waiter for a box. He scurried off and she turned back to the seated woman, “Well we’ll have to take it all to go, including their stuff.”

Glancing towards their table, Herra noted that she’d only been able to eat a bit and it still sat there. She turned to see the waiter come back with a small stack of boxes, “Here ma’am.”

Razor hands the boxes to the others and quickly dumps her meal in the one she kept, seeing Tsukiko holding her hands over the two glasses of water on the table. As she watched the water bubbled a few times then settled again. Tsukiko grabbed one and tossed it at Razor.

“You know I really didn’t need one.” Razor said, wiping the excess water from his face.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Tsukiko shrugged as Razor took both boxes and started towards the exit, “Yeah well darlin’, I was making one because Herro is Herro and it’s just as easy to do two.”

As Razor nods and heads out Summer follows, her own take-out box in her hand. As Herra comes along behind Summer, Tsukiko splashes the water on her, causing Herro to stagger slowly.

“Thanks,” He mutters, getting back to following along as his sister falls in step with him.

“It’s the least I can do for ya,” She says, “I’m not a complete bitch after all.”

Herro snorted as the amazons climbed into a black SUV parked just down the road. As he climbed in he glanced at her, “Yeah not all the time.”

Speeding through the city, Razor looked between the others in the back. He took the unrolled map of the area and pointed.

“Here’s what we’re going to do,” He said, “Tsukiko. You and Summer are going to go to the place Calvin admits to going.”

Tsukiko narrowed her eyes, “You said there was nothing there.”

“No, I said the scouts said there was nothing there. That doesn’t mean there isn’t or there won’t be a return.”

“I can help too,” Summer said, her eyes flashing red, “You know this.”

Razor nodded, “Yeah, and if something goes physical I want you there to help. I have a bad feeling about that place. I think it’s a trap and it’s not going to be good.”

“Well the one who knows that he told us that place was taken, along with Him.” Herro said.

“Exactly,” Razor continued, “So they’ve had time to set it up as a fake base to lure us in. So why isn’t anything there. It’s not right.”

Summer shrugged, “Maybe they didn’t setup any trap. That Calvin guy did seem very dense.”

“No,” Tsukiko said with a sigh, “If Warlock is in charge of this, and even half of what da’s said about him, I think we should be prepared for the worst. You’re right suga’, we’ll go there. Anyone else with us?”

“Autumn, Linna, and Rinna will be there, plus a small contingent of the guard.” Razor said as they rounded a corner.

Pulling over to a corner Razor looked out, “Okay girls, this is your stop. Go up the street. Summer, you are in charge as the eldest of us there.”

With only a small amount of jostling the girls opened the door and started to file out.

“Be careful,” Razor whispered to Tsukiko as she got out.

After the girls got out and were with the rest of the Amazons in the SUV driven by Matt, Razor sat back and looked at Herro.

“I’m sure this isn’t going to be pleasant”

Herro looked out the window, “Well I’m already in this far, can’t back out now.”

“Not like Summer would let you anyway,” Razor said with a wry smile.

“Point.” Herro sighed, “She’s gonna be the death of me.”

With a laugh Razor raised his eyebrow, “What. Death by Sexing? I think your heart won’t give way from that one for a long time.”

“That’s what you think. You aren’t the one she’s after.”

Razor let out a soft exhalation and pulled his sword out with a small container of oil from his bag and started to clean and oil the blade, checking the edge as he spoke, “No she isn’t but I’m the prince of a people who don’t have the human and magia hold ups about sex, so I’ve lived with plenty of Amazonian females, and males, chasing after me in much the same way.

“At least,” He continued, eyes darting up to look at Herro from lowered brows, “She’s not just infatuated with you. You proved yourself to her.”

“How did I do that,” Herro asked incredulously, “She could easily have taken them out without my help.”

“Then why did you help her at all?” Razor asked.

Herro shook his head, “Because it’s the right thing to do. You don’t stand around when someone is getting attacked.”

“That,” Razor sat back and smiled, “That right there is how. You didn’t have to but did it because it’s right. You did it and expected nothing in return. Not only that but you were able to take them out, proving you are strong and capable.”

Razor laughed and finished before Herro could respond, “It doesn’t help you’re pretty hot.”

“I do not want to hear that from you!”

Letting out a louder laugh Razor turned back to his sword.

They pulled up to what appeared to be a block of old warehouses. Easily nondescript and bland even without a look-away barrier in place. With it, the place just wouldn’t hold the attention. Even looking for it Herro had a harder time keeping his gaze from drifting.

Shaking his head he forced his magic sight up and kept it trained on the area.

Walking to the group of Amazons positioned around a small table, Herro whispered to Razor, “I think we should be careful. There is immense magic here.”

Razor nodded, “Yeah I can feel it too.”

As they approach the group, the majority of the Amazons standing there put their hands to their hearts and bowed. The rest moved their heads as if watching the perimeter.

“As you were,” Razor says, narrowing his eyes and glancing beside them at the barrier just across the street, “What’s the situation?”

Archer glanced at him and back to the compound, “We’ve had patrols around the area for a few hours now and they all report nothing on their check-ins. So we figure they must be holed up inside one of the warehouses.”

“Have any other patrols on that side converge, so we can use them as another side to flank them.”

“Sir,” Archer said with a nod as he started speaking into an intercom.

Razor watched and turned to Herro, “Can you pinpoint the location of the deepest magic?”

“No,” Herro shook his head, “The barrier is keeping it in, there’s just so much it’s leaking out.”

Archer turned towards Razor and started to speak as a green fletched arrow stuck out of his upper leg. He cringed and fell to his knee, “Highness, be careful.”

Keeping his sword at his side Razor spun to where his military chief knelt on the ground. Coming around the edge of the barrier was a number of amazons, weapons drawn, one of which included an archer. From behind them, another group came up.

Without warning the groups converged. The guards around Razor and Herro stood stunned as their former compatriots ran at them.

Herro glanced at them and saw a deep purple orb in the center of each one and no visible aura, “Yeah. They’re not alive anymore.”

“Attack them,” Razor shouted, “Don’t let any of them remain to soil the memory of our brothers and sisters.”

Their prince’s command seemingly clearing their indecision, the Amazons charged to clanging steel. Each zombified guard kept coming, but their moves weren’t nearly as precise as when they’d been alive.

“Well,” Razor said to Herro, as he adjusted the grip on his sword, “Shall we dance?”
