Chapter 10

Across the path, a large sheet metal building was split open and hot steam was spewing forth from the opening. The harlequin lay crumpled below the opening. Getting closer the pair each feels a tingle and both were in their male forms before getting too close to the building.

The harlequin started to shift and crouched on the ground. Stepping in front, Razor dropped his sword towards their head, “Don’t move. Lets do some introductions.

He put his free hand on his chest, “I’m Razor, this is Herro. We’re your jury today miss -?”

“You Two,” A male voice hissed out and the head lifted. Calvin’s face evident under the melting makeup and torn costume, “She’s a bit crazy so I didn’t put it together, but he never lets me use THIS curse, completely blocked it in fact. Others, sure. Dog, Cat, Penguin, Pony, those I can, but not this one. Not Female one. So you must be them. It’s all your fault.”

“Sorry,” Herro said, “Don’t recall meeting you or doing anything to you, but sorry anyway.”

Calvin laughed, it coming out as hysterical as the female ones had, “No, you probably don’t. Where’s the third?”

“Third?” Razor asked, raising an eyebrow, “Buddy, you’re crazy.”

“Of course I am.” He all but growled, “But all because of ignorant children. He’ll want to know I found you of course. I need to get to Him.”

Calvin Jumped to his feet, pushing Razor’s sword to the side with the palm of his hand, and gouging a neat cut down the center. He threw his other hand out and sent both men flying backwards with a wall of force before jumping into the air. A ball of energy formed around him and he started to rise and accelerate.

Herro scowled and threw his arm out where he lay. He shouted a magic word and Calvin’s form started corkscrewing and dropped. A plume of smoke started rising from the direction of the parking lot after the fall.

“That your doing?” Razor asked, pulling himself off the ground and slipping his sword into its sheath.

Herro stood and dusted himself off, “Yeah. After he tried to mind fuck us I couldn’t let him get away. Plus he seems to know how I have my curse. Maybe I can get him to remove it.”

“Well I suppose you can,” Razor said, starting towards the exit, “I’ll get my people to take him into custody and we can find out more about harlequin and his mysterious Him.”

“That can work, just make sure you don’t kill him,” Herro mumbled

Razor grinned, “No promises.”

Walking behind the other man, Herro continues to mumble, “Well aren’t you a ray of sunshine on my day?”

“Why is the trip out always longer than the trip in,” Herro asked as they walked through the nearly empty park after what felt like an eternity.

Razor shrugged, and waved at another of the few people they encountered, either police or some sort of security personnel, “Usually it’s the opposite actually. It’s got to do with your mindset though. Since you didn’t want to really come on the date in the first place you aren’t really eager to be hear but leaving, can’t come soon enough.”

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

“You know,” Herro stopped and stared at the other man, “I really didn’t care, it was rhetorical.”

An officer saw them and started to wave them towards a cordoned off area with the other guests. Razor shook his head and pointed at the Amazon coming over to the man.

The jet black haired man wore square rimmed glasses and had on a military style suit covered with a duster in white with black hemlines. He nodded at Razor after speaking to the cop and started to walk towards the pair.

“Matt,” Razor said with a nod as he kept walking, “Herro, this is sub-commander of the Court Guard Matthew Silkscale.

Turning his hand in the opposite direction, “Matt, this is Herro Maxwell, just my date. Though I may have to make that up to him.”

Matt makes a small bow towards Herro, “Pleasure.”

Herro nodded and followed after Razor, Matt following behind him, “What’s going on?”

“My people are coming to help out the cops of course,”

“Uhh,” Herro started, “How do ‘your people’ have that kind of pull?”

Razor stopped and glanced down at Herro, “Because we’re still in IvorySun territory. The entire city and well past is part of it.”

“I suppose that is true. You just don’t think about the government of your home all that often.”

Razor watched as Matt darted to the gate before answering, “You do when your home IS that government. My weeks are filled with policy meetings and ambassadorial visits, and other stuff to help me get ready when my dad steps down.

“And I get this,” He continues, “Security details and all that. Sure we are a warrior people so they will leave me alone, but most times it’s present, even if you can’t see it.”

“Way too much work for me,” Herro said, “and too much supervision.”

Razor chuckled, “Yes, I agree. That’s why they will usually leave me alone. Like I said they’re more court guard than royal guard. An Amazon is a fighter, so being wrapped up like a porcelain doll isn’t good for our image, Royalty included.”

Slipping through the gate behind Razor, with Matt again bringing up the rear, Herro nodded, “Your life sucks.”

“Not really, I…” Razor shrugged, looking around the parking lot.

Herro noted that Black SUV’s and police cars filled the parking lot. The SUV’s all had the same sunburst that Razor had tattooed on his leg. If he remembered right it was the tribal symbol for IvorySun. The cops all seemed to be led by a pair of higher ups who appeared to be talking to a taller blonde man with a scar running down his cheek. His short hair was spiked up and a brilliant shade of green. His eyes were a piercing brown. As if noticing the gaze, his head turned towards Herro.

He stopped looking and focused on Razor, noticing the other had kept talking, “And I do own at least partial shares in most of the tribally owned business. So ya see, not too bad. Although I must ask, why are you staring at Archer?”

“Archer, isn’t he the guy in charge?”

“Yeah, he’s the tall green haired one.” Razor waved his hand.

Herro cocked an eyebrow, “Well there’s something odd about his aura. Not wrong like the harlequin Woman, man, whatever, but still odd.”

“He’s the head of the Kingdom’s military branch, so I’m sure he’s got some badass stuff up his sleeve. He also acted as a royal fight master.

“But if he’s he they must be prepared to keep this place closed and storm it when we figure shit out.”

Matt crossed his arms as he stood beside Razor, “Yes Highness. Both Sir Archer and Lady Milena are here. The Court guard is going to deal with the crowd that was in there to let the police go back to their duty and the military is going to keep anyone else from coming in.”

“Good,” Razor said.

“Can we get to this guy that cursed me me in the first place?” Herro grumbled apparently being ignored by the other two.

“If I may be so bold as to ask,” Matt said a bit stiff as Razor rolled his eyes and nodded, “Did you find any clue as to the disappearances or the evil aura of the place?”

“Actually we I think we did. That mage over there,” Razor points to the crumpled car on which rested the prone and unconscious body of Calvin, “Seems to be pretty high up the food…”

“Hey!” Herro shouted, interrupting razor and apparently just seeing where the man had fallen, “That Was My Car!!!
