Chapter 6: Wishes / A World Of Wonder

It was time, everyone gathered in the throne room, the god on his throne, the demon sitting next to him, and Harutos group before them.

“What are your wishes?” Asked the god.

The first one to speak was Akari,

“I’ve played a lot of games, I’ll ask for great abilities in the magic arts!” She said.

“I’m glad you chose a wish for yourself, I shall grant that power to you.” Said the god. He snapped his fingers, giving Akari the ability to feel mana.

“Who's next?” Asked the god.

Sora walked forward,

“I wish for skills I can use to help me adapt, survive, and thrive in this world” Sora wished.

“Wow, you really are a pain in the butt with this stuff as usual, I’d ask if there was anything specific but...fine I’ll give you something really overpowered then. It’s a skill, plotarmor. It does pretty much what you would expect, it activates whenever it is needed, it has a massive cool down, though it has a chance for the cool down to reset any second, and it’s more powerful than the normal plot armor the rest of you guys have naturally…. that and I’ll give you a crafting skill, it will allow you to learn recipes and make anything pretty much. Oh, and this. There, next!” Said the god. He had left a small mark similar to a birthmark. It was a star on his neck, glowing a bright white light which slowly faded away. The first mark for the four hero’s.

Haruto spoke

“I’d like the power to be a hero.” He asked.

“I’ll give you the skills of a hero, and allow them to be skills that can grow and evolve. You need to work hard to achieve your goal. The more people you help and the better a person you become the stronger your skills get, I added a karma stat to your stats page, you can check that.” Said the god.

“Oh, and magic, too!” Said Haruto

“That comes with the hero stuff. You can exchange karma points for skills and abilities in the hero shop.” Explained the god.

Yui came forward, last but not least.

“I’d like the power to protect my friends and my family” she wished.

The god looked at the demon, and the demon looked back, they smiled.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

“Me and my husband shall grant that wish together.” Said the demon,

“We bestow our power onto you, similar to the protection given to the first generations of your family. It is divine protection, a shield against anything that can hurt you. And we give you something you can use to protect others, a skill. A shield, you can use however you want to, any shape, any form. We give you the shield of the gods, the skill has a cool down and limitations on its usage, you can check those out later. Also, I’ll add a little thing that can help you later, when you need it. Other than that, I’ll let my husband do the rest of the talking.” Said the demon, a woman who was more beautiful than words could describe.

“Yes, well, I’ve let the most competent person on your team handle talking to other people, so just listen to Sora when you arrive, ok?” The god said, slightly worried about how Haruto would behave.

“Seeya!” the god snapped his fingers, and the 4 friends awoke in an unfamiliar room.

When they woke up, their clothes had turned into items befitting their abilities. On their body was a weapon, as well, with a mark upon their body. Haruto held a holy sword at his waist, which looked to be made of solidified light, though it seemed to have dark orbs inside it. Sora held a pair of wicked looking knives, one seemingly carved from ice, the other made of what can only be described as solid fire. Akari held a wand, she could make it bigger or smaller at will, when she held it her mana seemed to surge with power. Yui had a ring. It allowed her to give sharpness, weight, fire, or other effects to her shield. She played with it, turning it from a sword to a knife, a bow and arrows, a steel pipe, a working skateboard, a miniature remote control car… wow, ok. Well, I guess she was blessed by both gods, after all. Her shield shimmered with the color of an opal and the sheen of a rainbow. She figured out she could change the way it was colored, though, and started to play with it like clay. It was a wonder to behold. During this period in which the other three were goofing off playing with their new gear, Sora went and talked with the king, giving him the gods' regards. As he was gathering information on their situation, there was a loud boom.

“What the heck was that, Akari!?” Shouted Sora.

“I don’t know how the heck to use this stuff yet! Don’t blame me, it was Haruto that blew it up!” Argued Akari. “It was who?!” Haruto asked, bewildered

Sora frowned.

The king laughed. He was not used to people having this kind of attitude with him. He found it rather refreshing. It reminded him of when his kids were younger, running around, playing in the gardens.

“Ah, how I miss those days.” Said the king, deep in thought.

“The world being in great danger has caused us to be so busy that I haven’t seen my family for quite a while. I haven’t even seen my first grandchild yet. Please, Sora… No, all of you here. I beg of you to help us. Our people are being killed in cruel and horrific ways. We don’t want you to kill every demon and monster. Some are not aggressive or evil, but please, can you stop the army of devils and monsters led by the demon king from doing more harm?” asked the kind hearted king.

“To draw a line between friend and foe, rather than blindly killing all of those that are similar, is something I can respect. As long as you don’t make us kill the innocent, I promise to help cleanse the evil from this world.” said Haruto, like a cheesy hero in the comics.

Sora and Akari laughed, Yui looked concerned for her brother, and the king, who knew nothing about the reason they laughed, felt very touched by our hero’s words.

“We don’t ask that you help us for free, in fact I don’t think it would be right even if you insisted. Please, I’ll have the servants take you to your rooms, we can talk after you have rested. The transportation circle that connects your world to ours tends to drain a person, more so than they would think. You will probably fall asleep a few minutes after you get to your rooms.” Said the king, happy to hear how well the heroes had taken to their new surroundings. He hoped they would feel comfortable here, and treat it like a second home.
