Chapter 10: Liiiime <3

“And I thought you were an idiot. I mean, to be fair, anyone would, after you see them fall in love with one of the dumbest people I know.” Said Sora, feeling kind of bad for Haruto.

“Say, where is Haruto anyway, isn’t he the main character thingy?” Asked Akari.

“The god says the story hasn’t fully started yet, other than that you can ask the demon. You can talk to her through the game screen, I think” said Sora.

“Hello, hello dearies, how’s it going?” Said Lime, with a soft and cheery, lighthearted voice.

“Hey, demon, do you know anything about this story?” Asked Akari.

“My my, use my name, will you?” Lime said

“Name? Is your name not demon?” Asked Sora.

“Do you think anyone would name their child demon? Of course not. Call me lime, it’s from Tourmaline but say it lie-muh , it’s how I usually ask people to refer to me as.” Said lime.

“Tourmaline? That doesn’t have the word lime in it though?” Said Sora, who seems to not be able to put two and two together, even though he’s the smartest person on earth. I guess a situation like this would take a toll on almost anybody.....

“It was line, but lime sounded cuter, plus I can summon limes. So it became lime!” Said lime.

“Wow, first time I’ve met a demon named lime.”

“Lime is an interesting name for a demon”

Said Akari and Sora.

“Oh Dear, I think you’re both confused. I’m not a demon, I’m human.” Said lime.

“Human?!” Exclaimed both Akari and Sora.

“Yes, of course I am. Did you hear nothing my husband said? Both of us are human. If you want to think of me as some supernatural being, it would be more accurate to refer to me as a goddess. After all, that’s what I am. Specifically the goddess of beauty and love. Sora, you read the god and the demon earlier, didn’t you?” Said lime.

“Yeah, but still... Well, I guess other than the purple and black, you don’t seem to be too demon like.” Said Sora.

“What do you know about fashion!” said Akari.

“I agree, purple looks quite nice, my husband said it brings out the color in my eyes.” Lime gushed.

“Wow, I figured by how the god spoke of you, you guys were lovey dovey and really close but still, this is like sugar, eating sugar, cups of sugar at once, it’s too sweet and adorable.” Said Sora, getting hungry.

“Why thank you, it has been eons or so since me and my husband last met, so it’s a little bit more intense right now.” lime smiled brightly.

The god shuddered.

“Wow, for an avatar on our game menu, you're really realistic. You're even 3D, like a figurine. And speaking of that, what's with your otherworldly beauty? I know you said you're a goddess of beauty, but didn’t you say you were human? Did you....Change your appearence with magic or something?” Asked Sora.

“How rude, I’ve always looked like this. Before I had this power, the beauty was more of a pain than it was worth.” Said lime.

“You guys are getting off track. Besides, I have questions of my own. Lime, do you know anything about magic?” Asked Akari.

“Magic, in this case let's take dark magic, uses neutral mana passed through my cores category, so it's basically using a super diluted form of the mana that comes from my mana source, my core. So magic is something incredibly simple for me.” Said lime.

“Can you help me with these patterns and inscriptions, and these enchantments?” Asked Akari. She pulled a few notes and charms out of her pocket.

“Patterns I can do, same with inscriptions, but enchantments are derived from my husbands core. I can help a little bit, but don’t expect me to know everything. I don't have an origin creation core.” said lime.

“Okay, what are enchantments, then?” Asked Akari.

“My husband said to imagine what the enchanting system in Skyrim is, and that it’s similar to that. I’m not sure if you have played that game. It’s amazing, though.” Said lime.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

“I see, that makes this easier, I didn’t even know how to start after all, so I need to find an enchantment table, right? Then I should study enchantments.” Said Akari in a very excited voice.

“Correct, though, I recommend you ask Yui to help you with enchanting. Because it's actually pretty different from the skyrim enchanting, just similar.” Said lime.

“Yui? What would Yui know about enchanting? I’m still mad you brought such a small fragile girl to this world, you know!” Said Akari.

“Yui is stronger than you by miles, more than that, actually.” Said lime.

“What.” Replied Akari.

“Hmmm, I’m not sure this was explained to you. I guess I can explain it, then. To start with, me and my husband are the ancestors of the Suzuki family, so every one of them is related to us as our descendants.” Said lime.

“Wait... so, does that mean you’re basically super old grandparents of even the family elders?” Asked Akari.

“Yes, that would be a good way to put it. Yui and Haruto carry our inheritance. In other words they hold fragments of our power passed down through the generations. Haruto carries my inheritance, so he may be about equal to you in strength, but Yui carries the inheritance of my husband, and is therefore not only the most powerful, but the rightful leader of the Suzuki family. Yui has also had training in the powers that the priests of the suzuki family have, as she was a priestess herself. So, she has not only mana with my husbands nature, and training with priestly powers equal to that of this worlds saint, she can use magic from the fragment, the inheritance allowed by the shard, a unique spell, but she is also blessed with the shields, and can use those as any form of weapon or defense. She’s virtually a walking army. She has the strength to be considered a demigod. She only lacks a core. The one thing you have over her is your versatility of elemental Magic’s, and the explosive and destructive power your spells have.” Said lime, smiling.

“I’ll write a mental note: never upset yui. Check, got it, oh my god that’s insane. Wait, then what about Haruto?” Asked Akari.

“He's about the same as you and Sora are in power. But you and Sora have actual brains.” Said lime.

“Wait, then.... what’s up with harutos split psycho personality disorder? It isn't Disassociative Identity Disorder, so.....What else could it be?” Asked Akari.

“That’s madness. A side effect of having inherited my power. Thankfully, the madness was passed to the personality that rarely comes out, rather than our lovable Haruto.” Said lime.

“So..... It’s your fault? He wouldn’t have this power if not for you, and if he didn’t have it, he would have been fine!” Said Akari accusingly.

“No, his split personality was already bad, it’s just the madness makes it chillingly worse. On top of that, Harutos inherited powers are solely accessible by his split personality. Our Haruto doesn’t have a scrap of my power. If Haruto gets upset and that personality comes out, he has nearly unrivaled power, as Yuii has to listen to him kinda, I think. I wasn’t able to tell if my husband was joking about that or not. Basically, current Haruto: weak and cuddly, evil Haruto: powerful as a demigod and crueler than the devil himself. Also, he would have died if not for his split personality. His split personality is the manifestation of all the things the good Haruto can never do. If you need to do something at the cost of another person's life or even injury, our Haruto would be literally incapable of doing so, even to save himself. So it's unfortunately something necessary for him to survive.” Said lime.

“Your husband said something about this journey being a plan to help Haruto didn’t he? how could this help him with his problem?” Asked Akari.

“......Hey, lime....I don’t think there’s only two harutos.….” said Akari, thinking.

“What!?!!?! How! Can you explain?” Lime asked, confused.

“Well, the reason I can be who I am today is because of Haruto, you know that, right? I’m pretty sure a third Haruto came out when I was in trouble. One of the reasons I like him and I can act like a normal person is because of that incident. I don’t feel like sharing the details of the event, but something happened, and Haruto changed. He emitted that wierd aura, but it wasn’t a suffocating pressure, it felt warm to me, though it seems that wasn’t how it worked for who caused my problem. It was definitely not the Haruto we know, but it didn’t seem like that cold evil Haruto, either. Well....” Said Akari.

“This....may be a bigger issue than I thought. I’m not sure, but... From what I can tell, I’m pretty sure the other Haruto can feel good emotions as well. Only a bad person can emit the suffocating pressure, but I have no idea why it didn’t affect you. Thinking about it, back when the second personality came out during dinner, you weren’t as badly affected as Sora or yui, and you didn’t pass out either. A normal person would have died from the pressure alone. Could the reason he froze not be because of the collision between the energy yui has and the one Haruto has? No, they definitely affect each other, but maybe that particular incident…” lime mumbled.

“Lime?” Akari asked after a few minutes of limes mumbling.

“Huh? Oh! Uh. Yes, ok um. That Haruto that helped you. It was the Haruto that was at the dinner. There is no mistake. That Haruto may have feelings for, err it might feel like it’s wrong to kill someone uninvolved. Honestly, we don’t know, it’s even harder to find out since there’s only one thing my husbands omnipotence would ever have issues with, and that’s my energy. We conflict like opposites, though I do eventually lose out due to my power being weaker. I'm pretty glad that's how things are though.” Said lime.

“You guys don’t seem like all powerful ultimate beings, you feel more like minor gods because of all the faulty parts of your powers.” Said Akari.

“Akari, my powers were accidentally made with the exact opposite of my husbands power. Like matter and antimatter. So his power has very limited effect on mine in the short term, the power that was given to me had side effects, though. In the end, I went mad. The side effect of my power is insanity. That’s why the harutos are so different, why one's so twisted. My husband sealed me and my power off, at the cost of his own, and risked his life, putting us both into a deep slumber which caused significant weaknesses in our powers. Yet the madness survived in haruto. My husband is an omnipotent god and I’m a goddess, but neither of us are perfect. That’s why my husband rejected his omniscience in the beginning, and will do so until the end. There isnt supposed to be any perfection in the world.” Said lime, shaking her head.

“I see... I have questions, but seeing those tears, and that face full of regret, I don’t think it’s time to discuss this. I know everything I need to know as of right now. We can save the rest for later. Try to calm down, relax. It’s not your fault in the least. Go talk to your husband for a bit, I think he may be able to help you feel a bit better.” Said Akari, worried.

“Thank you.” Lime said, having not noticed the tears streaming down her face until just then.
