NL Chapter Seven: Gods End

NL Chapter Seven: Gods End

The city of Parvel is a fair sized place with tall stone buildings, crossed with the round huts that humans all seem to like and the twisted tree houses of the elves. All in all it's a strange place to the travelers, a meeting of 3 different styles and kinds of people, with a mix of gods from all the recognized intelligent races.

The down side to this for the pair is they are not allowed to 'kill false gods' here, or so the mortals tell them as such is against the laws of the land.

Even so, Freyah leads them to her sire, and he, seeing her scoffs and tells her she is not welcome in his hall.

Nyesha nods, "Well your not a god, your an undead Thing pretending to be a god, so the convention on such is you have no right or authority here."

He scoffs at her, "Bring a Real god little one, we will See who is allowed what." he laughs.

Her eyes glow white, the winds increase and the STORM forms. Mortals run, many call apon their gods to fight this rogue priestess. None answer that prayer save Corellon who comes forth, looks around, then puts a protective barrier around HIS peoples homes, but otherwise does not interfere.

An elf in the false gods group looks at him with wide eyes, "Lord Corellon, I thought you stood by the treaty of gods here!"

He nods, "I do, but that creature your with is no god, just a powerful undead monster whose time has come. I for one am not going to stand in Nyesha's way, she tends to hunt down those false gods and ends them."

Nyesha smiles, the roof of the stone building Jarl was hiding in is ripped off by a very focused whirlwind, the roof tossed away, only to land on top of another evil thing, that was hiding in the ground a few miles away. The true gods here about noted that and that the King of the Elven gods is not interfering, so they sit and watch for now.

Jarl is ripped up tossed to the clouds then allowed to drop. Winds only push him so he will land in a particular spot.

As he is falling, Nyesha hands her enchanted swords to Freyah, "Here, I suggest starting at the legs and working up. The fall will not kill him after all, but he will be broken."

As predicted the fall broke most of his bones and Freyah, lawding out his false claims, promises, and how he has hurt and betrayed all his lovers and made their lives a living hell because of his Lies. Each statement made with a slash or stab of the lightning charged magical blades, each and every thing he had done to her and those before or after her to feed his own small ego, his lies of godhood, and her heart felt revenge for what he did to her and so many others. The last of it given just before she removes his head, the swords at full power at that point. The head burns and he is no more.

Freyah sighs. Her revenge is done, but she also feels she avenged all the other women he did this to, and would have done to others had he not been stopped.

With his death, the spells he had wrapped around so many people break and all but a few desperate souls find their own minds and hearts returned to them. Most are in a form of shock and don't understand what happened to them.

Freyah herself feels 'something' break inside of her heart and then peace fills her. She comes to her friend and hands over the magical blades, "Thank you for that. I felt the last of the power he had over me break when he died. In a way I finally feel free though still cursed to." Nyesha nods, "I am glad for that at least. Now if my own curse were as easy to deal with."

Corellon over hearing her walks over, "What curse ?"

She looks up at the slightly taller elf, "While I was still new and not really understanding of certain things, I got the title of God of Travelers and the Curse of wanderlust. It's really not a good fit on me. See I actually Hate traveling, I am a home body at heart. I don't mind helping people and all that, but" she shrugs.

He slowly nods then shakes his head, "But your so good at the job."

She shrugs, "Oh I not saying I can't do it. I just hate being Forced to always be on the move, also I am really not suited to living off the land. See I am a psion, a seeker, but well my empathic side is out of my control. I can't skin animals cause I FEEL what the bodies are feeling as I try to skin them."

Corellon holds a hand out at her, and his eyes go wide, then he looks 'outward' and mutters something to the universe. A few minutes later, stepping from between two tree's an old man with a long black staff in one hand and a candle lantern in the other comes forth. He has a short conversation with the Elven King, then kneels in front of Nyesha and really Looks at her. Sitting back he sighs, "Oh well. Not a good pick as we originally thought. Yes your To Aware, it's amazing you can even eat with that level of awareness."

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

"Cooked foods are my friend, they are changed enough that I can't feel them anymore." she tells him. He nods in understanding then looks at Corellon, "You were right, high levels of uncontrolled object reading. But also Spirit Sense and Aura Sight. She is very Aware of the universe around her. Which makes weather control and such a good match but those abilities do tend to make people not enjoy traveling, hiding yes. Other than she needs people around she would make a good hermit. But not a good fit as a travel goddess."

Nyesha sighs, "Don't want to be a god either. No offense to either of you, but I really don't want the job of being a god. I like the powers and all, but not the rest of it."

(Roll for understanding: 10,10,7,2,8 - they got it <- To keep from Being Mary Sue)

Mist forms and the image of Yondalla looks sadly at her, "I am sorry child. I did not know this would be such a bad fit. You did well at it but I do understand its not something just anyone can do." she takes a breath, "I release you from the service, which removes the wanderlust to. The rest is your power by rights. But you will lose the priestly powers to. Of which, other than blessing people you never really used." she looks at the other two, "Her protection signs are more mage craft than priest craft as she was human before this."

Vag nods, "Her blessings will still work, her soul is that far advanced. It's one of the reasons she was chosen. Old, well learned souls make either good gods or teachers. I think she is more suited to teaching than being a god."

I shrug, "I have always taught, always learning to, that is the way of things. I am aware of that, 5 keys I know, Awareness, Knowledge, Perception, Understanding, Balance. That last one is new and I am still working on it. But then I have only known, consciously, the last 2 for the last 30 years or so. Grokking is hard."

The Hermit grins and nods. Corellon looks thoughtful even as Yondalla looks sad. She had high hopes for this one, but it was not working out. Even she can see it once she understood Why the child has such trouble with woodlore. To be so aware that you can Feel what the spirit of dead animals feels as they are made in to food. The fact she travels with an immortal makes a bit more sense to her now. She can Feel much what they must feel when they are forced to prey on others. The child has much to learn of herself and her own spirit before she will be ready to become a god. She stands a little taller, "Very well. Now your just not ready, but that does not mean that some day you May be ready. I can wait. I still think, when your ready, you will make a fine addition to our group. But you are still a Hin and I am still happy you are one of my people. And I may still send you places that can use your special gifts from time to time. But for now, you need time to grow and learn and be." she nods to the other gods and fades out.

Corellon looks thoughtful and Vag sighs, "Oh well so much for my retirement. Was a nice vacation while it lasted though. You keep the vest and well, keep on learning and teaching others. I will be happy with that."

She nods at the ancient and he stands, whispers something to the Elven God King, then walks back the way he came.

Corellon looks around, "Well, this is a different day than I expected."

Freyah ask, "What did the old one say ?"

"Oh, warned me about some problems on my border realm. Nothing to concern you two. Still, I liked your rest stops and I for one hope you can keep makeing such places before you find your place in the world. I visited that first one you made, wonderful spot. Loved how you reused that old house. Also while you may not be a god anymore, you still have it in you to be a hero. Are one really. You have saved allot of people, stopped much evil in the world, done a great many things to keep the world going. And you look like you figured out something.."

Nyesha has this look in her eye, "My priest spells came from my godly potential, that is what Yodalla told me. But that potential is still there, it's that way for everyone and how Faith magics really work actually. Especially for we evolved souls."

Corellons head rolls forward and he chuckles. "You are going to make this world an interesting place. Good. Interesting beats boring and maybe you can figure out how to help your friend there be something more than she is now."

"Keep moving forward, that is all we can do." Nyesha says softly. The Elven God nods and fades away in a violet light.

The party that followed these two heard and saw it all. Nyesha, pretended to be a priest but was actually a god, and now she is not a god, but still in good with the Gods. They don't know what to make of that.

The sky clears and the two turn and leave the town. None for once follow them, only the party was close enough to overhear their conversations with the other Gods but they don't really understand it.

Telavil though did understand one thing. The reason she is a poor hunter. He knew someone like that a long time ago. An old human man, all skin and bones, many thought mad, cause he could hear the plants cry when they were eaten, their berries plucked, the grass stepped on. He starved slowly to death because he was so aware of what everything around him felt.

Now he meets this strange and beautiful lady who can not only sense that, but what the very spirits of the animals feel. Yes, she will never be able to skin anything, it's amazing to him she can even cook meat. He makes no move to follow. He does not think there is anything he could teach her and he is a bit afraid to even try.

Freyah ask, "So where to now ?"

Looking at the sky, "I don't know. The compulsion to travel is gone the need to be Anywhere with it. I don't know where to go. This is so not my world. So where do you want to go ?"

Freyah thinks about it. "Well my sire is dead. Your not a god anymore, but still command the storm ?"

Nyesha nods, "That was my gift just for comeing to this world. Want to know a secret?"

Freyah nods. Nyesha sighs, "The Magical Language here, was my native language where I came from. That is why it's so easy for me to work."

Freyah considers that then leans in to her horses mane and giggles for good while. Being reborn in to a world where your normal everyday language is Special and Magical has to be a strange thing indeed. Still they don't know where they are going, and as such are not in any hurry to get there. So they keep moving forward and see what life will bring them.
