It was close to dawn when I smelled something cooking. Was not sure if it was cooking like to eat, or if something got hit by lightning from the storm and well 'cooking' that way. But I headed toward it none the less.
Other than animals, who if I get with in 10ft or so of, I can understand just fine, thanks to years of study, I had not seen anyone and if not for that zombie earlier, would not have been to surprised to have not found any 'human' life.
What I found though looked like the afterwards of a long battle, lots of torn up bodies, a pile of burning parts of bodies, gear of assorted makes scattered around or under piles of refuse. Some 'evil' types dumping ground. Something that eats humans by what I am seeing here. Really I would have just slipped quietly away had I not spotted this nice metal staff.
Looked like bronze or brass pole with some kind of grey metal ends. As this is something of a junk yard, I decided to try and get it. Unfortunetly one of the creatures who made this place was sorting through a pile of body parts, removing garments, armor and such from the bodies or body parts. This thing hand long arms, thick black body that was mostly head with a huge mouth and no legs. Thing levitated itself to move about. I not seeing it at first nearly walked in to it. It turned, made a gleeful sound and lundged at me. My insticts took over and I threw out my hand with a strong ZZZOT! The lightning blast hit it square and knocked it back, but otherwise did not hurt it, as it laughed off my attack, said something in it's language at me, still laughing.
I sighed, switched to SHHHHHH BOOOM! and my fireball went off, It did not survive that as the small ball of fire shot in to it's open laughing mouth before exploding. Sent bits and pieces of the creature all over the place. The blast was so strong in fact that it blew me off my feet and in to a wall of some kind of leather or stretched skins over bone or wood. Was enough to break my fall and keep me from completely falling over. The only down side is the staff fell over and conked me on the head before landing in my lap (ow).
Still I was picking up the staff when 3 more of those things showed up, one wearing some kind of arm band with a crystal and chain and wires around it. It barked something and the ones with it drew large nasty looking swords, the kind where the tips are larger than the hilts. Scimitars, huge two handed scimitars that they weilded one handed.

They all rushed me, screaming so I chanted "Program; Come Fire and Form, balls of unerring death, strike my foes, Execute!"
3 foes, 12 tiny balls of flame, 3 massive explosions that pushed me back in to the wall and steam dried my clothing.
I think what ever makes them float is highly flamible given how easily they combust. But this time the blast was so strong Everything around them was just gone. Burned right out of existance, or so I thought at the time.
I am about to leave when I feel this pull. Something near by, strong spirit, needs saving. Facing the space I let my aura sight do the seeking and find a strong aura in the ground. I think it's a living being and it's buried. So I work to dig it out, trying different 'spells' till I find one that helps me dig, by moving large bits of earth and ick out of the way.
What I find though is not a person, or even an animal, but a strange sword laying across a broken shield.
I get them both out of the hole, but the shield is to far gone to use for much of anything and the sword is in serious need of cleaning. It is a long handled long sword, perfectly balanced with a light blue radience around the blade. So likely enchanted over possessed. I wipe it off with a bit of rag, then find a sheath from the piles that works for it. It's old sheath is in no shape for it anymore. I talked to it as I cleaned it. Well truthfully I talk to everything. Sometimes stuff answers back. Find more haunted or enchanted items that way. This one could not talk but I was getting empathic responces. Mostly relief from the fear that it would be forever lost.
So now armed with staff and magic sword and a few bits of items that were salvageable from this pit of a place, I once more move on. Though once clear of the place I realize that part of it is a ship of alien design. I consider then using the staff to focus my energies I craft a spell of fire, lightning and Holy Radience, for the trigger I state Plasma Fire.
SOOOO Glad I was well away from it before trying that. The boom was massive and all consuming. It looked like a second sunrise for a good minute before a second larger boom and the winds off of it, forced me further down the road. My poncho made a good sail that day, carrying me along till I hit something coming the other direction. Don't recall much after that though.
