It seems that finally, I got used to waking up to a different ceiling than my own... But even then, I can feel some differences. Like for example when I use the Identify skill on myself.

It really makes one wonder... Don't get me wrong, is not like I don't enjoy this type of reality... is just that, is fairly different than the previous one and adjusting to it takes time. People as well for that matter, are entirely different. There is a complete and utter lack of anger or hate directed from one human to another and completely replaced by cooperation and goodwill instead!?
Now, that's something you wouldn't expect to see in the greedy creatures that we are. Plus that not even regarding the monsters, the people of this town are not hateful about them. I mean, the first feeling they have regarding the people that have been killed by them, is regret towards losing them and then, hope that they find peace... but not the intense type of boiling anger that would drive people to start a freaking crusade...
I mean, it was pretty much the same with Fred last night.
"Speaking about last night, I'm alone in bed huh? Of course that kind of event doesn't happen in real life... Even if I saved her and everything...and now I should help her lead the world in a fight against the other Gods, we fall in love and stuff... dramatic things happens and I awake to OP powers... Yeah, that sounds cliche even by my standards... However, she's kind of cute though..."
I changed from my white yukata that I sleep in, into what I now call 'Preset no.1', representing everything I bought from the clerk Martin initially but with the black boots. There's no 'Preset no.2' by the way, because the only thing different would be wearing the brown boots, which made me quite depressed. By the way, I got used to the cloak by now and is useful in different scenarios. Like last night in the dungeon for example, when it helped me save those three.
And since the Job that I have is Scout, it does rely heavily on stealth. Well, I actually have that as a skill to prove it since this job is more of a damage dealer from the shadows and a really good information gatherer, than the image I originally had in mind. I blame the horse riding image of myself 'scouting' on the first games I've ever played!
"Which reminds me, the rep-chick also had the same job, didn't she? Laura Espada..."
Scout
An occupation that relies heavily on stealth for gathering information and silently disposing of your enemies, as well as the speed to make it out in time.
It provides a boost in the damage dealt to an opponent in the case of a surprise attack.
If the damage dealt is a fatal blow, the amount of experience received at the end of combat multiplies twice per each opponent after leaving battle. If no enemy is engaged within 5 minutes, the multiplier resets.
Requirements - (Stealth) skill and a fatal damage dealt to an enemy from a surprise attack.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Next evolution branch - Hunter; Tracker; Soldier
"Next evolution branch means that I can chose my next job, right? I wonder if it has requirements like the Scout one...then maybe..."
Hunter
Evolved from the Scout occupation, it provides a boost in accuracy for long range attacks, with a high chance of critical damage and improved drop rate bonus from the killed monsters inside of a dungeon.
Besides the regular skills from the Scout occupation, as a Hunter your senses receive a boost and you are now able to track monsters and tell their general location.
Requirements - 1) Scout occupation and at least two different monsters killed from different races, that have different occupations.
2) To achieve the full critical damage boost for accuracy increase, you also are required to kill an enemy with an ambush by using range attacks only.
Next evolution branch - Assassin
"...it is somewhat too convenient that I managed to do that yesterday. Is good to know that the Ambush skill applies to throwing weapons as well. But the next evolution... Sounds kind of a bad reputation giver... Well, that means that I'm pretty much all set for my first Job upgrade, ain't I? But I really don't like that it has already been decided on...it feels like that useless game God is playing around with me."
Putting it at the back of my mind and deciding that I'm hungry, I descended the stairs and walked to the reception desk. There, I found Laura looking at a piece of parchment with some sort of seal on it. Somehow it smells like trouble...
"Good morning Ms. Caitlin, Laura."
[Good morning Michael. Slept well?] (Caitlin)
[Good morning. I was pretty shaken yesterday and didn't get the chance to say it right, so one more time, thank you very much for saving my life yesterday and bringing me here for the night. You even paid for my stay... I will reimburse you for it of course! And, and...] (Laura)
"Calm down please. And is alright regarding the cost of the inn."
"After all, most likely, your father will pay me that back with interest."
[However...](Laura)
"Hmm? What's the matter?"
[I received a letter from father. He wants both of us to go to the Adventurer's Guild as soon as possible. He is waiting for us in the headquarters of the army with the commander and the guild master. We should hurry.](Laura)
"I was expecting that more or less. However, there is no way we go!"
[We don't!?](Laura)
"Not without breakfast we don't!"
Ms. Caitlin chuckled a bit and Laura was confused. I took that time to check her clothes. It seems that the clerk Martin provided a proper attire for her this morning...however, it was a bit...
"Tomboyish... And she looked so good last night. It would be better if she dressed properly."
After convincing her that her father won't go anywhere, we were led in the same pavilion as yesterday by Caitlin and were served breakfast. She ate hastily, making her choke a couple of times, times that I didn't miss to make fun of her. She calmed down a bit, even if she was kind of tomato-red.
I asked of Caitlin to keep my room reserved and followed behind Laura, that with more confident steps than yesterday and big strides was headed for the Adventurer's Guild.
"Seems like she managed to sort things out last night. However, the guild master, is it? I wonder if is the same typical bodybuilder or SSS rank adventurer that has retired and now is leading the young ones, that also sports glasses to make him look like a bookword until you provoke him and then KAPOW! you get owned... I hope I don't fall into the same type of pattern where I must fight and win against such monster...I am nowhere near OP enough for that..."
"What do you know about the guild master, Laura?"
[Hmm? The guild master? Oh, right! I forgot you're not from this city. But wait, even if that's the case, the guild master is quite famous over the entire continent. I'm surprised you haven't heard.] (Laura)
"Is that so... How come?"
"Yup...is building up to that pattern..."
[She is the only person to have unlocked the Assassin occupation in the entire history of this world. She is the reason I picked my occupation as a Scout.] (Laura)
"Assassin? Wait, 'picked your occupation'? What do you mean?"
To many things to compute at once! First of all, why is the Guild Master a 'she'? What type of pattern is this? Secondly, you can pick your occupation but I had my force down my throat by that useless game-addicted God? And how the hell did that woman unlocked an Assasin occupation when that requires so much experience gain, but the dungeons appeared in this world only a year ago... SKETCHY! That woman is way too sketchy! I don't want to go anymore! Should I make a run for the dungeon and just stay inside until I managed to clear all its levels? Maybe by then I can put up a decent fight if I'm forced down this route...
[Eh? At the ceremony of course...what's with that face? Don't tell me you don't know about this!?] (Laura)
"Sorry, but I have been traveling since a very young age and I lack common sense like I already said previously. So, what is this ceremony?"
Well excuse me that that pathetic excuse for a God didn't give me any knowledge about this world! He only told me to 'visit the capital and see the orb' or something like that. How the fuck was I supposed to guess that what he meant by that was 'If you would like to select a specific Job, first go to the capital and see what it fits your tastes. Then you can take a look at the requirements and decide on a specific path'. Like fucking hell he meant that! He only wanted to amuse himself by using me!!!
[I see... Do you know about the crystal orb in the capital?] (Laura)
"The one in the temple? Yes... It can tell the status of a person, from name, to level, to job, to skills...everything."
[Exactly! That makes it easier then. At the age of 18, one is allowed to chose which Job he wants to pursue. The orb helps with that and since it's like a coming of age ceremony, the country doesn't charge for its use.] (Laura)
"What? So you could pick directly any Job you want?"
[Of course not! Any Job has requirements, even the starting ones. In my case I started as a Pathfinder after finding the requirements for it. Then, after reaching level 5, I visited the capital again and found the requirements for the next branch, the Scout job. It was difficult to attain, because of its technicalities, but is the second step towards my own dream. I plan to visit the capital after reaching level 10 to check the requirements for the next branch, the Hunter job.] (Laura)
"With her level, she probably already killed more than two or three Kobolds. And probably at least two of them had different jobs. I wonder regarding Goblins..."
"By the way, have you ever hunted Goblins?"
[Hmm? Goblins? Yes I did. I joined in the early expeditions against them and killed some. Once we even found Gatherers coming close to the town and I was sent with the other soldiers to remove them. Why, have you fought Goblins as well?] (Laura)
"I was just being curious. What type of weapon do you use?"
[I have lost them in the dungeon, but is dual daggers just like yours. That and a bow.] (Laura)
"I see... I use throwing knives. Have you managed to kill any monsters with a single arrow until now?"
[Hmm? What a strange question... Of course they die in one shot if you fire at their hearts or at their heads. That's how we usually start our ambush, attacking with range weapons in order to dwindle their numbers. It ensures less casualties.] (Laura)
"I see..."
"This freaking cheat character... She's even looking at me like is the most normal thing in the world and I'm the stupid one. Have you not seen the other soldiers? They don't even go beyond level 3 for crying out loud! Well...I also did that, so there's that as well... But I'm not under any circumstances as OP as she is! I'm as normal as they come! But, did I just skip the Pathfinder job and got the Scout directly? Ugh..."
When we reached the reception desk of the Adventurer's Guild, Helen greeted us and told us that general Espada was waiting for us at the third floor. Apparently, the other two guys I saved came early in the morning and already delivered their report. It made me wonder what exactly did they say about their 'vacation'. I wanted to hear the full report as well.
We then climbed to the third floor like requested, knocked on the door and were invited in. When we entered, the eyes of the general widened and a happy expression was seen on his face.
"Quite the dotting parent, isn't he? Yet again, there's no parent that won't be happy to find out that their child survived such an ordeal."
After a couple of seconds of silent glances between parent and daughter, followed by a smile from both, the commander spoke.
[Corbett, thanks to you, not only did we receive information about the dungeon, but we also recovered three of our most important people. Thank you for that!] (Laurence)
"I just happened to come across them while exploring the first floor. There's nothing to thank me about, since I was doing what I was asked for in the request you've given me."
[However, thanks to that, we have decided to change our plans. Guild master?] (Laurence)
[There will be a change in plans indeed that will require your help Mr. Corbett.] (Guild master)
So this is the only person with the Assassin Job in this world huh? Hmm...!?
