A few days later, Aki was in is manipulation class where the topic was gaslighting.

Aki was fiddling with his thumbs, completely ignoring what the teacher was saying.

This was because for most classes that he wasn’t interested in, he could just gather the general information needed to pass the quizzes.

Stuff like that wouldn’t work in his general studies class though, which was the only class that focused on his academics.

The students around Aki began to pack up their stuff and leaving the room. Signaling to Aki, that class was over.

As Aki realized it was lunch time, so he went downstairs to the cafeteria. But when reached downstairs he noticed a leaderboard.

It was for the exam and there was rankings for the top 50 students performance during the exam.

‘Woah, I got second place’ Aki thought.

Aki saw his name with his school year next to it.

Aki looks up at the first place name to see who beat him.

‘Wait, seconds years can participate too?’

The student who beat him was 2nd year student Damien Valorant. Also known as the student council president.

As Aki looked at the leaderboard someone approached him.

“Hello, Mr Aki my name is Lily Cooper but you can just call me Lily.” She sticks out her hand.

Aki shakes her and a smiles.

“Hello Lily, you can just call me Aki.” He replies.

“Aki, I would like you to follow me. I need your assistance on a particular issue”

She says.

‘I’m curious about what she wants from me’ Aki thought as he turns his attention back towards the girl.

“Ok”

The girl starts to walk away and Aki follows her wondering what her intentions are.

Lily leads Aki to a room in a secluded place. The door of the room had the label staff only on it.

“Isn’t this room reserved for the staff members.”

“Don’t worry we’ve been given permission to use it for today.”

Lily opens the door and walks in with Aki following closely behind.

It was a small and cozy room with brick walls which is quite different from the usual interior design of the school.

The room was dimly lit with only a small light in the center of the ceiling. There was two couches in the middle of the room with a coffee table in between them.

‘This was probably an old staff room’

On one of the couches, a girl was sitting with her legs crossed.

“Wait…you’re here?!” Aki shouts.

The girl happened to be the same girl that he bumped into before the trust test.

She rolled her eyes at Aki’s outburst and began to speak.

“Did you tell him why he’s here yet?” She asked Lily.

“Not yet,”

“What are you guys talking about?” Aki asked.

“Alright, it’s time to tell you why you’re here” Lily paused before she continued speaking.

“As you already know, this school is centered around honing one’s skills at lying and deception. However, it wasn’t always that way.”

Aki raised his eyebrow at her words.

“This school used to be one of the top high schools in America until the current student council took in charge. He made the school the way it is now, a terrible place.”

‘So he’s to blame’ Aki thought.

“I’m the student council treasurer, and she,” Pointing towards the other girl.

“…is the vice president, Mary Valerie.” She finished.

Mary scoffed and spoke.

“Anyway, we’re trying to work together to take down the student council president. Are ya going to help us or not?” She asked

“Before I answer I have to know, why did you ask me?” Aki asked.

“Isn’t it obvious? You got second on the trust test, it makes you our best chance at taking down Damien.” Lily responds.

Aki sighs and shakes his head.

“Alright, I’ll help. I’ll get Damien expelled quickly so I can just return this school to normal and be a normal high schooler.”

Aki began walking towards the door.

“By the way, you would frame me for hurting you if I didn’t help right?”

Lily’s eyes widened as a knife was revealed in the breast pocket of her uniform.

She planned to cut herself and frame Aki to prevent the chance of him leaking they’re betrayal to the president.

She grinned devilishly.

“You caught me! I reall didn’t expect you to noti-”

“Tricks like that won’t work on me” Aki said and walked away.

After he was gone a bead of sweat went down Lily’s face.

“I didn’t expect that.” She said to Mary while she laughed nervously.

Mary smirked but then she looked to the door as her face went serious.

“He’s quite interesting.”
