Chapter 14: the beginning of the end

Three days later, Aki was walking to his classroom.

Today was the day of the exam and the best chance Aki had at expelling the student council president.

‘Welp, I did all the preparation beforehand, the only thing to do now is execute the plan.’ Aki thought as he arrived at his assigned class.

Aki opened the classroom door and walked inside. Ms. G turns her attention towards Aki and tells him to stand in a line with the rest of the class.

When he got in the line, Ms. G began to speak.

“I will now guide you all to the room where the exam will take place. Keep in mind you will also see the opposing class you will be up against in the exam so act accordingly.” Ms. G says.

“You will now follow me.” She said.

Then, Ms. G left the classroom and the students of Aki’s class followed suit.

After a few minutes, the students reached the exam room one by one.

Aki was the last one to enter since he arrived to class late as usual.

When he walked inside, Aki was quite surprised by the interior of the room.

‘Why is the room so empty?’ He thought.

Aki’s thoughts were justified, the room was almost completely empty. The was were painted completely white with a glass wall separating the room into two parts.

Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation.

On each side the only things inside were three puzzles jumbled up and put into buckets.

‘At least the exam is as straightforward as when they explained it.’ Aki thought as he analyzed the room.

Once all the students from each class got on their opposite sides of the room, two female examiners walked in on each side.

“Greetings student of eleven academy, I will be your examiner.” The women on Aki’s side bowed.

“My name is Alya and my sister on the other side is named Alma. We will both be observing and guiding you in this exam. As you already know, you will be completing a race against the other class to see who can solve all three puzzles first.” Alya says.

Alya cracks her knuckles and stretches as she smiles gleefully.

“Now it’s time to tell you about the rules! First, trying to copy the other class by looking through the mirror is strictly prohibited and will result in a loss. Second, no student is allowed to use violence against another student in their class regardless of the circumstance. Lastly…”

Alya’s face turns serious and an evil grin grows across her face.

“Verbal communication between students in the same class is forbidden.”

A feeling of dread covered the entire exam room, making every student go completely silent.

‘Ah crap, this is going to be an issue.’ Aki thought.

“What do you mean no talking amongst students? Won’t that make it extremely difficult to work together?” Nao asked Alya.

“Yes it will and that’s exactly the point. This rule will give an opportunity for you to shine and highlight the students that can adapt the best.” Alya replies.

‘The president definitely was the one who implemented this rule. Since he spent more time with his class he could have made communication methods without the use of speech.‘ Aki thought as he brainstormed ways to effectively communicate with his classmates.

Alya claps her hands to get the class’s attention.

“Now that we know the rules, let’s not waste anymore time and begin the exam.”

Meanwhile with Damien everything was going to plan.

“Excuse me Ms Alma, before we start the exam may we have a class discussion?” Damien asked Alma.

“Yes, that should be fine.” She replied.

Damien turned to his classmates with a serious face.

“You guys remember our signals, correct?” Damien asked his classmates.

They all nodded in unison with not a single person defying.

Damien created multiple hand signals with his classmates to prepare him for this exam.

These types of schemes were very common from Damien, who used them to get first place in exams.

Him easily exploiting the system was due to him being the one who created the exams.

His idea of changing the school to foster liars is why Aki must expel him.

‘Having a father in high political power makes you know what is necessary to win in politics. Lying is by far the most effective way. Thus by making a school of liars I’m preparing a generation of leaders that will do anything to win.’ These were the thoughts that went through Damien’s head.

In his eyes, he was the ideal student of his system. He is a person who lies and exploits the system to be superior to his peers.

Alma claps her hands and yells out to the class.

“It is time to begin the test!”

Both groups go to the back wall on both sides of the room.

Then both of the examiners synchronized themselves to start the test at the same time.

They both pressed a button that sounded an alarm.

“The test has begun!” Both of the sisters said on their respective sides.
