Roy woke up feeling better than usual. He still felt like shit, but at least it was better than yesterday.
It was already morning and judging by the position of the sun, he has slept for nearly 6 hours. Which was the highest amount of sleep he had after the integration.
He did some stretching with his body and to his surprise he realized that most of his injuries have almost healed. Only his right arm, which was injured the most, is still somewhat disfigured. Roy once again realized the miraculous functions of the system. In pre-system world, Roy would need to stay in a hospital for nearly a month for his injuries to heal, but now it took only one night. Although his level ups and 8 free points in vitality was the main reason behind his swift recovery, it was still not less than a miracle.
But even before Roy could open his system messages and properly analyze his gains, he felt as if he was forgetting something; something really important. Realizing what it was Roy opened his eyes wide open,
"OH! FUCK! The key to the inner-village."
Not wasting even a moment, Roy quickly collected one of his swords. He still had no idea where the fuck the other one was. That was also important, but not important as the key.
Roy quickly came to the spot where he fought the 'Goblin Warrior'. A pair of vultures were trying to eat the dead goblins.
[Vulture- Lvl 07]
[Vulture- Lvl 09]
After failing to actually pierce through the skin of the goblin warrior, one of the vultures started to look around to find something else. It found a shiny gemstone. But before it could try to take it with its beak, a sword flew by and killed it instantly. Seeing this, the other vulture quickly flew away. Its life was more important than some stupid meat.
After seeing the vultures run away, Roy sighed. If he was even a minute late, then all his hard work from last night would not be naught. He quickly moved towards the corpse and picked up the key.
[Key of a Settlement (Uncommon)- The key of a goblin settlement created by the village shaman.]
It was an uncommon rarity item but it did not have any other particular use other than being a key, which was a bummer.
Roy spent the next ten minutes to search for his other sword and after finding it he came back to the corpses and searched for anything valuable. The clubs were simple [Common] rarity items and he did not have any particular use for them. But he found a couple of things that he can actually use.
[Health Potion (Common)- Heals 70 HP instantly. Cooldown: 5 minutes]
[Spatial Storage (Inferior)- Can be used to store items. Limit: 4 cubic feet]
Roy quickly put the [Health Potion] in his new spatial storage which looked like a worn out leather pouch.
Although both of them were of extremely low level, he did not mind. Having a small spatial storage can be extremely useful for him in certain situations. After sorting his loots from the battle, he sat down beside one of the corpses. And weirdly Roy did not feel any disgust or fear from watching the blood and gore of the goblin. He thought to himself if this was caused because of his trait. The description did say something about attaining complete apathy and gaining the power to erase everything; in this case, his disgust towards watching something gross.
But he did not dwell on it further. It was time to see how much his skills have improved.

Wow! Honestly that was a lot! Roy has benefited hugely from this fight. He leveled up five times, his existing skills have leveled up as well and last but not the least, he has gained four new skills. And his new skills are just simple Awesome. He liked [Quick Step] the most. It supplements his fighting style and using his high dexterity, future enemies will find it very hard to land a hit on him now.
But that was not all. Roy grinned from ear to ear as he looked at the next message.
[Side Quest Completed: Baby Steps]
[Rewards have been re-evaluated due to extraordinary performance]
[One Uncommon skill and one Uncommon item will be rewarded]
This was amazing for Roy. Although he liked his current class, he still felt somewhat upset about the fact that his class did not give him any [Uncommon] rarity items or skills. But now he will have one of each.
Man, System really likes risky fights, doesn’t It? Although it really begs the question that if System just wants the users to die or not. But that was another matter. Roy personally didn’t care. Even if he has brushed with Death couple of times last night, he had actually enjoyed the fight. It was fun, it was exhilarating. More exciting than any other things he has even done.
This notion further confirmed his idea that he was not psychologically sound. But in this new world, maybe a bit of crazy is what is required the most to survive. Roy quickly accepted the reward from the system. First comes the new skill.
[Congratulations! You have been rewarded a new skill. Active: Restoration (Uncommon)]
Just after seeing the name Roy flinched. It did not take a genius to realize that this was a simple utility skill. Roy still did not lose hope.
“It might still be a better skill than the name implies”, he thought.
No, it was not.
Restoration (Uncommon)
You can use your mana to restore any item of [Uncommon] or less rarity to its original form. The amount of mana consumption is dependent upon the damage and rarity of the item.
“That was anticlimactic”, Roy thought.
With a though Roy gave command to active the skill.
[Restoration]
And within seconds, his armor was good as new. But the best thing was that the skill also cleaned his armor.
Finally! Now Roy did not need to clean his equipment every time he fought.
And just for that reason alone, Roy was not disappointed anymore. [Restoration] was now a good skill in his eyes.
Next comes the new item!
“Please let it be something good!”
[Congratulations! You have been rewarded a new item. Bastard Sword (Uncommon)]
Just after seeing the name, Roy gave himself a mental ‘High five’. His grin was back again. Although now it looked creepier than usual.
Bastard Sword (Uncommon)
A sword that is a hand-and-a-half sword and cannot be categorized as a single-handed or great two-handed sword. Having no family, this sword earned the nickname "Bastard."
This was exactly something that Roy needed. This day was going good for Roy. Minus the part where a sword materialized out of thin air. That part was downright creepy.
Roy practiced a few swings with his new sword. It was far better than his short-swords. Unfortunately, he could not use [Dual Wielding] with the sword.
Supposedly, he needed same type of weapons in both hands to utilize the effect of [Dual Wielding]. Maybe if he leveled up the rarity of this skill, then he could use different weapons in both hands. But for now, he could only use the [Bastard Sword] as a two-handed weapon. Even if he didn’t get the extra bonus, the extra damage from the sword more than made up for it.
Overall, Roy was confident that could now properly tackle the inner settlement. He put his short-swords in his [Spatial Storage] and collected the key.
It was full-noon now. He had already dumped his free points in [Perception]. Now checking his status one last time he activated the [Key of a Settlement].
