The first thing Roy noticed after opening his eyes was the young man sitting opposite to him. The young man was seated with his legs resting on the table in his therapist's chair. He seemed as if he was really bored, as if nothing can actually interest him to the slightest. But the main problem was that, this young man had the same face as Roy. Yet Roy instinctively knew that this young man was not at all similar to Roy. He was much more powerful, much more dangerous and most importantly, much more interesting.

Even before Roy could analyze more, the young man opposite to him spoke up,

“Are you interested to know why I look exactly like you?”

Roy felt extremely weird hearing his own voice from another person. But he was smart enough to realize that something beyond his understanding is going on. So, he put the useless questions aside and just gave a nod.

Sensing his confirmation, the young man flashed a grin spoke up again,

“Well, during these situations, I always take the form of someone that they care about the most. And before you go on about how there are others you care about more, let me tell you that its totally normal. 2 out of 5 humans love themselves more than anything in the world. Its just in your genes, so you don’t need to feel that embarrassed about it. So, any questions?”

“Can you please tell me what this ‘situation’ is?”

From the corner of his eyes, Roy could perceive that the young man in front of him smirked, as if something amusing has happened. But that smirk was gone as fast as it came.

“The situation is that your Universe, 53rd to be exact is being integrated with the System. That much you already know from the notification you heard before you passed out. But integration with the System is not as easy as it sounds. Integration with the System expands the universe in various mystical ways. Every living being goes though a form of evolution to be exact. They gain various mystical powers that has always been in the universe, but they could never get access to. You can say it like, they gain the power to control the very fabric of nature. Its kind of similar to what you humans call as magic. But this process is extremely dangerous and also kind of time consuming. That is why I prepare a tutorial for them in the beginning of the integration, where they learn how to adapt and control the forces of nature in a more suitable environment. And now we are inside the void. This place is only accessible to mortals before the tutorial. And we have roughly 5 minutes before the tutorial starts, so chop chop. Ask any questions that you might have.”

This new stream of information was extremely overwhelming for Roy. But he decided to postpone this overwhelming feeling after he has dealt with this issue. He meekly said, “You said ‘I’, so does that mean…”

Before he could even finish his sentence, he saw that the young man in front of him smile and say,

“My, my. Where are my manners? I haven’t introduced myself yet. I am System, or just a small part of it which is given responsibly for your tutorial explanation. Some people even call me ‘Lord of the Universe’.”

Suddenly the young man or System, whatever it was, starts laughing.

“Ha, ha. Look at your face. You actually believe that I am the Lord of the Universe, don’t you?”

Roy kind of felt annoyed realizing that the young man was laughing at his own joke. After about a minute his laughing dims a little bit, “My God, this is funny every time.”

Roy was still in a trance, but he swiftly collects himself and asks,

“What do I do now?”

This time System stops his laughter and speaks to him in a serious tone,

“Now you will be given the basic information about the System. But before starting that, you need to access your status screen. Try saying ‘status’. You don’t need to say it out loud. Just think about it in your mind.”

Roy did not for one second trust this person in front of him. But he also knew that, this situation is beyond his comprehension. And the only source of information he had was from the young man in front of him.

So, he simply obeys the guy and says ‘status’ inside his mind. And just as quickly a window pops open in front of him.

Roy had already guessed that this will be something like an RPG game. But the status screen in front of him just confirmed it further. He started to observe his status screen. Seeing the status screen, he could easily deduce that the HP, SP & MP were dependent to Vitality, Endurance and Mind respectively with a 5 multiplier. He wanted to know the explanation of what Common Language skill was and just after he thought about it, System gave him another message.

Common Language (Static)

The most common skill given to every sapient creature being integrated into the System.

Gives the user access to the common language of the Multiverse.

After reading the description, Roy looked at System and asked,

“What are class, traits, titles and feats?”

“You can think of class as the starting profession if you will. You will understand it better when you will select your class. Now about traits…”

Suddenly System got up from the chair and opened the bookshelf. But his explanation did not stop,

“You see, every being in the universe is unique. They might share the same species but their thought process is different. And trait is just that. Trait is the embodiment of your uniqueness. Understood?”

Roy did not yet properly understand what traits were. But he did not ask any further questions about it because he knew very well that his time was running out. So, he gave a nod and taking that as a yes System continued,

“Now, titles and feats. These two refer to achieving something outstanding. Now, feats can be said as really great achievements, for which you will of course get some sort of rewards. But titles are kind of a big deal. Titles are given to the beings who has achieved something that might influence the whole multiverse. Every title is unique and there can be only one bearer for one title.”

That was a lot of information to know in 2 minutes. But Roy memorized what System said and gestured towards System to give him any information that he needed.

“Your trait will be revealed to you after you enter the tutorial. For now, you just need to select your basic class. Are you ready?”

Roy was in no way ready. But its not like he actually had a choice. So, he collected himself and said,

“Yes, I’m ready.”
