In the middle of the night, underlit the moonlight, a [Warrior Goblin] and a [Human] was fighting a life or death battle.

Well, it wasn’t much of a battle really. It was more like the human running around and dodging the goblin’s hits; which could easily kill him in one hit.

Roy was still very much annoyed. The time limit of [Lord’s View] was already close to the end. He had a few broken ribs. The pain has not yet settled in due his adrenaline rush.

Things were not going good for him. Even after using [Lord’s View] to the fullest, he could not find a way to kill the goblin and stay alive.

Roy dodged another big swing from the [Goblin Warrior] and suddenly the goblin stopped his attacks. Moreover, it stopped moving altogether.

Any other person would take this as a chance and try to counterattack. But both Roy’s intuition and [Lord’s View] screamed at the idea. He knew that if he tries to attack right now, then he will surely die. And as if confirming Roy’s hypothesis, the [Goblin Warrior] put his club up and screamed. Roy could feel it in his bones that something big was coming. And he was right.

Just as the goblin stopped screaming, its whole body started to glow in bright red. It was using mana for the first time in the fight. The amount of mana was not too significant but Roy could feel that the aura around it has changed. He felt as if the goblin has become stronger than before. And it seem that the goblin is burning its own blood to do it.

By the time [Goblin Warrior] has finished charging up its skill, Roy has already retreated several paces. He took a deep breath, tightened his grip on the swords and prepared himself for the next assault.

But even before Roy could react, the goblin was already in front of him; swinging the huge club. Roy widened his eyes and at the very last moment, he dodged to the right. But even if he dodged the attack, its aftershock was still very strong. A gust of wind and debris hit him and he was thrown back a couple of feet.

Quickly balancing himself, Roy rushed forward at the goblin. The goblin was still too busy to pull its club out of the ground.

Roy swung his swords, targeting the very spot Roy had hit at the beginning of the battle. The swords connected the exact spot. But this time the sword did not bounce off. Rather, it cut its leg pretty deep. Seeing this, Roy grinned. His theory was correct. The goblin has discarded its defense for better offence.

With that theory tested, Roy had a new objective in mind. And that was to not die in the hand of goblin before he can finish it off. As if to prove how hard it will be, the goblin attacked with its club again.

But this time Roy was not so lucky. It grazed him on his left arm while he was dodging. Even if it was just a graze, Roy could clearly feel the full force of the attack.

The spot where he was hit instantly turned red, as if the veins had burst inside his arm. But to make matters worse, at that exact moment his [Lord’s View] timer finished. The world changed again. He started to notice the useless things again.

During this time, Roy did not stop even for a second. He had already started running around the goblin and dodging its attacks left and right. But this could not continue forever. All his resources were now close to being empty. The adrenaline has already started to wear off, the pain was coming in. Roy needed a plan; fast. And a plan that actually worked.

Roy noticed at the corner of his eyes that the goblin has started to stagger due to the injury he inflicted. It was a good sign, but to captivate upon it he needed something more concrete. But that’s the thing. Roy was not sure if he could kill the goblin in one slash. He did not have that much mana to pull of the trick he used to kill the first goblin.

Then out of nowhere, Roy got this crazy idea inside his head. [Mana Nullification] was supposed to nullify mana, erase it. So, if he could in theory stop the circulation of mana inside the goblin, then he can stop the goblin’s skill.

‘But it is not concrete. Where should I even hit the goblin to stop its mana circula…’

Roy could not finish his thought as he failed to fully dodge the goblin’s hit once again. But this time it was more than a graze. This time his left arm was fully broken. The sword flied away and fell inside the forest.

Meanwhile Roy crashed into a tree pulling the air out from his lungs. Then came the pain, the unbearable pain. His vision was getting blurry. But he did not fail to notice the glowing goblin charging towards him.

Roy could not think properly, he could not move properly, he could not see properly and he definitely could not swing his swords properly.

So, Roy let his instincts take over him. All his experience, all his failures and all his determination came together. He was not going to die today. Not to this goblin. If he dies one day, then that death will be a ‘Glorious Death’; not this ugly one.

The goblin jumped towards Roy at full speed. It wanted to smash Roy into pieces.

BOOOOOOOMMMM

A loud noise echoed throughout the forest.

As he dust cloud settled in, it could be seen that both the figures were lying in the ground, unresponsive. But suddenly the human shifted a little bit. He tried to crawl up, but failed miserably.

Roy has won, but not without a huge price. His right arm was completely broken now.

Roy knew from the beginning that without cutting off its mana circulation, Roy could not win. So he need to find the organ from which the goblin circulated its mana.

In that half-conscious state Roy suddenly started to perceive all the mana threads of the goblin and how those mana threads were connected with the heart of the goblin. So, when it came charging towards him, he had put all his mana in his only blade and stabbed its heart. But he did not have the luxury to get his right hand out of there. So, that is why he is now a quasi-handless person.

Roy was exhausted from the fight. And the intense amount of pain he is feeling right now did not help. But he still held onto his consciousness and gave a mental command to play the system messages.

Just as he read the system messages, he could physically feel that his body was healing much faster now. Roy quickly put all his free points in vitality.

There were other system messages but he put them on hold. Roy crawled towards one of the trees in the forest and hid in there.

The moment Roy lied down, all his exhaustion, all his injuries came back to him.

With a light smile in his face Roy let his consciousness slip away.
