CHAPTER 8 - TRAINING WITH PHILLIP

Lily led Jamie back to his place of residence. Lily waited outside the simulated room while Jamie was inside. He was very eager to summon Phillip again.

Jamie stood in the room. Iris hadn't told him how he was supposed to summon Phillip. He tried various methods that didn't work. Unsure what to do he pulled the book of Godly Summons out of his inventory. He needed to figure out what he was doing wrong. The book was thick with pages, but only the first few pages had writing on them.

In order to summon creatures from the book of Godly Summons one must give an oath of loyalty to Iris.

Jamie wasn't sure what that was in detail. He went outside to ask Lily. She stood there with her arms crossed as she spoke in a frustrated tone.

“To make a loyalty pact. All you have to do is swear an oath to her. It doesn't have to be long or anything. As long as you mean it.”

Jamie thanked her as he walked back in. Before he reached the door. He had a question come up.

“Hey Lily, if I had to make a pack. Then how come Phillip was summoned when I was revived and didn't need them?”

“How should I know, magic works in weird ways. When you do summon Phillip. You can ask him. I haven't got the slightest clue how that works.”

Jamie thanked her again before going back in. He headed right back towards the training room.

Lily mumbled something under her breath as he left.

Jamie made his way back tobtye simulation room. Knowing what he needed to do now. He activated the room as he got in. It operated with the means of magictech. The room expanded before Jamie's very eyes. He just set the controls for now to just create an environment for him. He made it plane and simple with concrete floors and walls.

It took Jamie a few tries to get an oath to work. He looked back at the book to see mote instructions.

Phillip the pheonicorn

To summon Phillip, call his name.

Jamie first used Phillips full title. This did nothing to summon him. He next just tried saying Phillip. This in turn called forth Phillip.

Phillip appeared as a silhouette of fire and ash before fully forming. Phillip had his eyes closed when Jamue approached.

Here we go again. Thought Jamie as he said hi to Phillip.

Phillip opened his eyes and burst into flames turning into a pile of ash. Before reforming again. He fussed at Jamie.

I thought I told you not to spook me like that. Phillip mentally told Jamie with a frustrated neh.

“Sorry, I'm still getting use to this.” Jamie replied.

“I do happen to have a question though Phillip? How were you summoned when I died. I didn't take Iris's oath?”

“Simple.” Replied Phillip. “When you died I was automatically summoned and was able to bypass the restriction. I don't know why Iris didn't tell you about the oath.”

Jamie thanked Phillip as he then practiced with the pheonicorns abilities.

After getting settled with Phillip. Jamie used tge simulation room controls too add dummies with Myrhril armor.

He had Phillip practice on target dummies that could absorb damage to test Phillip's damage. The results were off the charts as the mythril built dummies were turned to ash, pelted with holes, or straight out burnt beyond reapair.

Phillip told Jamie the oath he had sworn to Iris was the reason the attacks were so powerful.

He next had Phillip attack moving targets the results were just about the same except most of Phillip’s attacks missed. Jamie would have to work with hik in the future to work on there aiming.

After a few hours of seeing Phillip's abilities totally decimate in the simulation. Jamie believed he had a good understanding of Phillip's abilities.

The day began to wind down as Jamie canceled the summoning practice with Phillip. He shut down the simulation room as it turned back into its original form.

Jamie went to the kitchen to grab a bite to eat. He was startled by Lily.

“My shift has ended for now. I will be in one of the guest bedrooms. The night watch has been sent. ” Lily said as she yawned walking towards a section of the property.

Jamie said goodnight to her as he finished eating. He got ready for bed after taking a shower. It had been a long day. Jamie was still worried about Brad though. Jamie eventually dozed off to sleep.
