CHAPTER 3 – PHILLIP THE PHEONICORN/ A NEW LIFE

Jamie tried to open his eyes. “What an odd dream.” He thought. He then remembered the fight he was in. He tried to sit up, but someone pushed him back down. “Don’t sit up you are still recovering from your injuries.” Said a voice in a calm tone. It was warm in soothing. Jamie looked over and Jamie figured he was in some sort of bed. Jamie finally managed to open his eyes. “Where am I?” He asked dryly when he spoke. “You are in a safe spot for now.” Said the voice in a calm tone. Jamie looked over to see a young elf woman. She was wearing a white robe. Her emerald, green eyes focused on Jamie. “It is time I checked your vitals since you are up.” In a soft tone.

She began to chant. Jamie began to get nervous. She then sighed. “You can relax. You are safe in good care of the followers of Iris” She then begin to sing a low-pitched song. The melody was sooth and calming to Jamie. He began to relax. “Now I am going to chant a spell. It will let me check all your body for condition.” She repeated. She moved her alabaster colored hand to his chest and began to chant. An arcane circle formed on Jamie’s chest as he breathed slowly in and out. After a few seconds she released her hand from Jamie’s chest.

She then turned to a screen that showed Jamie’s entire body inside and out. Got to love magictech.” She said looking at the screen. “There seems to be no sign of any internal bleeding now.” She talked to herself. The elf then got up and walked away before saying. “I’m going to inform the others on you condition. For now, you should rest.” She said with a cute smile.

Jamie watched as the tall slender elf left the room. He happened to spot four guards by the entrance of the room as she left. “What is with the tight security?” Thought Jamie. Jamie took more notice of his body. His head had been bandaged and so had his right leg. With nothing better to do Jamie dozed off to sleep…

Jamie appeared in front of Iris again. She looked him over with a smile as she then spoke. “I am sorry our chat last time was brief. I must inform you that it will be in your best interest to not leave the facility you are currently being treated. My followers will know if you try to make a run for it. Besides, you always wanted to become a summoner.”

“Anyways, this time I will introduce you to your summon. He is a pheonicorn. Each of your summons will get my blessing as well. They will have unlimited mp, hp, and summon time. Most other summoners can’t brag about that now can they.” She said with a bright smile.

Jamie looked at Iris in confusion. “What is a pheonicorn?” Jamie raised his brow.

Iris replied. “A pheonicorn is the offspring of a unicorn and phoenix. They are quite rare. Anyways, I should let you and pheonicorn get to know each other.” Iris vanished as another being entered Jamie’s dream.

As the horse began to fully form, Jamie was able to tell more closely it was a Unicorn. He walked up towards the unicorn and found its eyes were closed. “Excuse me.” Jamie asked.

The unicorn opened it’s eyes in surprise and as it did it suddenly went up in flames. “What the...?” Jamie opened his mouth in shock. As the flames spread across the area the unicorn turned into a pile of ash. As quick as the unicorn burst into flames, the ashes began to reassemble into the unicorn. The unicorn reformed with fiery wings around its back. It’s body was covered in a fiery aroura.

“Don't scare me like that?” said the unicorn.

“Sorry about that.” Replied Jamie. “By the way my name is Jamie. What is yours?” Jamies asked with a friendly smile.

“I cannot recall my original name.” The unicorn looked at Jamie with disappointment. “But everyone just calls me Phillip, or what Iris calls me.” It whinnied in frustration.

Jamie looked back at the unicorn as he admired it even more. “Iris told me you were a pheonicorn.”

“Yes, my father was a phoenix, and my mother was a unicorn. I really can’t understand how this all makes since. They aren’t together anymore, and I am the last of my kind. It was all because I accidentally burned down the unicorn village after I got spooked. Both tribes of elders of phoenixes and unicorns after that banned the mating of both races.” Phillip let out a whinny of frustration. “From what Iris told me things were so bad. I kept getting spooked so much I almost burned the entire realm down. I kept on running to avoid being killed. Then Iris came and offered me salvation. She talked to the other tribes to have me sealed away. I was glad to be gone from there. So here I am in the plane for summons.” Phillip finished his story with a happy tone.

Jamie stood there confused about the whole conversation as he scratched the back of his head. “Right. So, what abilities do you have.” Asked Jamie.

“You should be able to check under my status sheet by looking at the crystal Iris gave you.” Replied Phillip

Jamie took the crystal out that Iris had handed him. Phillips stats illuminated in front of him on a screen transmitted by the crystal.

REGENERATION

Jamie closed the stat window as he put the crystal away. He was startled by the voice of Iris. “It is almost time for you to wake up.” She spoke as she appeared while Phillip disappeared.

“I must warn you Phillip gets spooked too easily. Even if he bursts into flames he will reappear just as quickly. The more you summon him the more he should be able to control that later.” She continued.

“There is one more thing I will give you that will be next to you when you wake up. It will allow you to enhance your summons. I am giving you the very one and only book of godly summons. Once, you touch it will be bound to you. You can see the book in the crystal I gave you. Until next time Jamie.” She said as she vanished from Jamie’s dream. Jamie’s dream began to fade as he woke back up in the infirmary.

Jamie slowly opened his eyes with a yawn. He wanted to stretch but being bed ridden prevented him. He sighed from lying around as he was getting sore. He then remembered what Iris had mentioned to him. He looked around on the bed for the book. It was laying on his chest. It was a green leather-bound book with a golden color radiating from the pages. The text on the book wasn’t a language he could decipher. In the middle of the book was an emblem of Iris’ss white lotus from her staff on it. He gently touched the book as it quickly disappeared into a flash of light. Jamie was blinded by the light. His vision was blurry as he blinked to refocus.

Jamie then noticed the elf who had treated him earlier had returned. She was walking through the doorway when he spotted her with two others in tow. The two were wearing white cleric robes. They both had a staff in each hand. Jamie got a glimpse of pointed ears on the two. He then looked back at the green haired elf.

“I really didn’t get to introduce myself earlier. My name is Lily.” She replied to Jamie with a cute smile. She went to check on his vitals again and nodded to the others that had followed her. The other two spoke with her in a language he couldn’t understand. The two other elves just nodded after the conversation and left the room.

Jamie watched as the two left. He then turned his attention to Lily.

“It seems your injuries have healed up. Let’s get you to your new room.” She said to Jamie as she was unhooking the equipment. Jamie waited for her to remove all the wiring. He then sat up and stretched releasing a loud yawn. As he stretched for the floor and ceiling.

Lily then helped Jamie remove his bandages from his body. His leg was left with a scar that Jamie looked at. Lily felt pity for Jamie as she said with a sympathetic voice.

“Some injuries leave scars. Getting bitten by werewolves can be one of those. You were lucky to be able to remove the curse from being bitten. If we hadn’t treated that wound, you would have turned into a werewolf in about 36 hours.” She shivered at the thought as she finished speaking.

Jamie gulped as he replied with thanks. Lily gave Jamie a new outfit to change into. It consisted of a white cotton shirt, pants, and leather boots. He was also given a robe to wear over the outfit that he saw earlier. She left the room for Jamie to change. Lily then assisted Jamie out of the infirmary to his new room. Jamie had a hard time walking at first from being cramped in a bed at first. Lily had to assist him to make sure he wouldn’t stumble. After walking for a few minutes, he was able to relax and walk on his own.

The walk to his new quarters was breath taking view for him. The facility Iris’s followers had built was carved into a mountainside. Jamie admired the architecture as it blends in with the mountainous landscape. The whole area had buildings and facilities that looked like nature had grown over the place. The buildings were a mishmash of a combination of trees and rocks.

“Why do all the buildings look like they have been fused with the mountain?” He asked Lily with a curious tone.

“This is one of many places for Iris’s followers to meet. We build all our secret bases to blend in with the natural scenery. They are built like this to hide from Iris’s enemies.” She told Jamie as they continued to walk.

“Things were not always like this. About two and half centuries ago after the magic fall out that hit the world. Both the Black Void Cult and Iris’s followers were blamed for it. After that event we had to flee into exile. So, we built small hidden factions throughout the world.” She told him more info.

Jamie stopped walking as he was caught off guard by the comment. “I never knew that the magic fall out event was caused by both parties. We were told a magic rift just opened up one day to another world at school.” Jamie looked at Lily who had also stopped.

“There is more to the story that I cannot reveal until you met with the head of this facility. Cameron will be wanting to see you. He is occupied with other things right now and won’t be free for the foreseeable future.” She let out a frustrated sigh as she began walking again. Jamie was still standing there with his mouth just gaping in confusion.

“Are you coming?” Lily turned around looking at him, raising her right eyebrow.

“Yeah, I’m coming.” Replied Jamie as he picked up his pace.
