Since it was night, I didn't expect anyone to see me.
There are those nocturnal humans in the village but I'm sure they have better things to attend to. Like looking at the forest.
So, of course, I wouldn't have to know that one of them saw me leaving the house.
"Isn't that the house where those travelers are staying?"
The human male, whose name is apparently Dave, spoke of the obvious.
"Yeah. That cloaked monster must've somethin' to do with those foreigners."
To assume I'm a monster already… isn't that a little hasty?
"This 'cloaked monster' you're talking about, you said they came from the door?"
"Yes! Were ya even listening!?"
Dave didn't reply and instead reached for the door and tested it.
Expectedly enough, it opened.
And no, it's not my fault. It's the door's fault for not locking itself.
"Woah… you might be darn right, Connor… the door's not locked."
"See!?"
"No, let's not jump to conclusions. Maybe they just didn't lock it in the first place."
"Geez! Alright, fine. Being careful is just like you Dave."
"Let's ask them for now."
Dave then proceeded to knock on the door loudly with the intention of waking up Sun and Night.
And a few moments later, I heard a loud scream coming from the house. It seems to be that Sun was the one who screamed.
There's a couple of reasons I can think of that would be the cause for that scream and one reason, in particular, stood out the most.
"Where's Snow!? Where is she!?"
"Calm down, Lilia! We'll look for her so calm down for the moment!"
Ah…
No, it's not my fault…
"M-miss!? Is everything alright in there!?"
Hearing the commotion happening inside, Dave didn't wait for permission and forced himself inside the house in a panic. Connor then followed suit.
From this point on, I couldn't see what's happening inside the house.
"W-who are you people!?"
Night asked the two guards when they suddenly entered the house.
"Don't worry, we're just the guards assigned for the night shift. I heard a commotion here and wondered what was happening."
"Is that so…?"
With Dave's explanation, Night calmed down a little.
But that didn't apply for Sun.
"You two, did you see a little girl? About this big, pale skin and black hair with a really cute face, did you see her!?"
"Calm down, Lilia!"
I'm really sorry…
I knew it, I should have asked for permission to kill goblins at night. If I did that, maybe Sun wouldn't be so worried.
"No, we didn't see her but Connor here might have seen someone else."
"Someone else?"
"That's right! Saw some cloaked figure comin' out of the house!"
"But we locked the door so there couldn't possibly be any chance anyone entering…"
"Well, somehow, that one did. It even left the door unlocked so we were able to enter."
After that, I heard a series of footsteps tip-tapping on the wooden floor.
"Roosevelt, it's not here! The cloth that Snow often used to go outside is not here!"
"Huh? Then could it just be Snow taking a late night walk?"
"If so then why is her dress still here then!? Even if we found her naked in the forest, she didn't seem to be the type to go out of her way to take walks with only a piece of cloth as her only cover!"
Somehow, hearing Sun say that make me feel more guilty than I already am.
"If it isn't Snow, then… could it be?"
Night, as if she had concluded on something, requested the guards to look for me in the forest.
"We'll do but don't expect much. Due to the incidents with goblins lately, we'll have to take safety measures so we wouldn't be able to search very far."
"That's fine but just please look for Snow."
The two guards didn't say anymore and left.
I saw them go in the direction where the rest of the guards are located.
I'd like to see what these humans would do when they're searching for someone and about these measures, Dave spoke of but that isn't my primary concern right now.
"Roosevelt?"
"What… what if Snow was kidnapped?"
"Kidnapped?"
"Yes! By those assassins that the mayor sent! It could have been like this... When Snow was going out for a late night walk, she was suddenly kidnapped by them and who knows what they've done or what they're doing to her…"
"Roosevelt, that doesn't make sense…"
"I know! But—but what if!?"
"I… I don't know…"
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"It's my fault… Snow wouldn't have to fight and she wouldn't have almost been killed at that time if I was just strong enough or if I made a better choice at that time. And this time, she was so close to me and I let this happen... I'm not qualified… I'm useless…"
"Roosevelt… that's—"
"… I'm not… I'm not... Uuurrrr... *Sniff*"
…
This feeling, it doesn't feel nice. Guilt doesn't feel nice at all.
I have to apologize to them.
No matter where I look at it, it's my fault why they're so worried like this.
Quickly, I sprinted towards the house with the thought of wanting to ease their minds even a second early. I don't like to be the cause for heir sadness.
Sun is already feeling sad from the losing people important to her.
I don't want to add to that.
And Night feels way too responsible for everything when it's actually me that should be responsible.
Upon arriving, I quickly opened the door and I saw Night kneeling on the floor, covering her face with her hands and Sun behind her, covering her mouth with tears flowing down from her eyes to her chin.
Uuuhhh….
"… I'm sorry…"
"Snow…?"
"I'm sorry… I'm sorry… I'm sorry…"
•••
"...So you were doing that?"
"Yes."
I decided to confess what I've been doing just now and the other night. From the smallest details.
I didn't hide anything at all.
I don't think that some parts are necessary but I said them anyway.
It's something that I simply did to erase the guilt that I was feeling.
But I only limited to what I did this night and the other night. Aside from that, I kept my other secrets, including the fact that I'm a vampire since I'm not particularly guilty for hiding that anyway.
Currently, I'm sitting on Sun's lap while she's sitting on a chair. She also has her arms wrapped around my stomach.
Night is also sitting on a chair positioned parallel to us.
After I laid down everything, the room was then filled with silence.
They were making complicated expressions and the mood in the room is uncomfortable. If I had to say, it's suffocating, especially since I'm the reason why it's like that in the first place.
But thankfully, Night put a stop to this by speaking. Though her words were odd.
"Do you know what you did wrong, Snow?"
Her voice was calm but accusatory. And it almost made me think that the expression and voice that she showed us before was simply our imagination.
But her eyes do look a bit wet.
"Yes."
"What do you think it is?"
"That I didn't tell you what I was doing."
Night nodded to that. Her eyes moistening even more.
"And you also didn't listen to our warnings about going out and killing the goblins."
I nodded simply.
It was true that I didn't.
"And you made us worry Snow…"
Suddenly, Night started to cry.
Like I learned before, someone only cries when they're having an emotional distress.
And in this case, it's caused not because she saw someone get hurt but because of worry. Although it's not much different from the time that Sun cried for Night because she was getting beaten, but it's close to that.
And seeing this, Sun squeezed me tighter in her arms.
I couldn't say anything about this so we simply let her continue.
After a few minutes have passed, Night sniffed one last time and wiped her tears. But she didn't look at us and instead, she continued looking down at the floor.
"I'm being very dumb, aren't I? I mean, Snow is very strong and she saved us twice already… and here, I'm lecturing her about making us worry… isn't it dumb?"
… no… why is she blaming herself…?
"It doesn't make sense why I should be worried about Snow… she's strong like I said... A few goblins shouldn't faze her and without us there, she would've done even better so she couldn't have died… yet…"
Her tears came again but this time it wasn't as intense.
But it quickly stopped, only letting a few years out. Then, as if realizing something, she looked at her hands.
"I didn't feel like this before… only now did it came… I wonder why… is it because… yes, that might be it… it's because Snow's life is something important for me."
Then, Night looked up to us with a soft smile on her face.
I've seen Night smile many times before but this one, I feel that it's somehow filled with pure, genuine happiness.
Night then wiped her tears once more and moved her chair closer to us. She then reached and touched my lips with her thumb, slowly revealing my teeth, my fangs.
"It's because of this, isn't it Snow? This made me realize something really important… and it's that your life is more important than mine~! Just hearing about Snow getting injured felt as if I'm getting injured myself… actually, it felt even worse than that."
Nights cheeks turned redder every single second that has passed and soon, the room is filled with a pungent smell of Night's blood.
But it wasn't the normal scent that I always smell from her. For some reason, it's stronger than before. It's even more tempting.
Sun squeezed me even tighter than before that it sort of hurts now and I noticed that she's been panting really hard lately. Her rough breaths entering my ear; it's exhilarating.
"… Snow, bite me once more… let me feel your fangs inside me…
As if an invisible force is controlling my body, I went ahead and did as she requested.
I pulled her neck closer to my mouth. Then, I pierced my fangs through her skin and proceeded to take in her blood, little by little.
"Fuwah—!"
Maybe it's because of the air around us, or the strange mood that I'm feeling right now but Night's blood is better than before.
So with that, I savored every little blood that entered my fangs.
But even with this wonderful taste, I decided to only drink a little.
With the last bit of control over myself, I stopped from going too far and removed my fangs from her.
The mark I made healed almost instantaneously though I licked it anyway.
There was a small amount of blood around the area where I bit her and yet when I licked it, I still tasted it fully.
But since it was such a small amount, it's was as fit only teased me into wanting more.
Since I only just drank from Night, it wouldn't be right to drink from her again so I looked at the other human in the room. The one I'm currently sitting on.
Noticing my gaze, I felt Sun jolted before looking away.
"… Help yourself, Snow."
Somehow, Sun turned meek but I couldn't be bothered to think about the reason for that now. I want to taste Sun too.
Plunging my fangs into her, her blood Immediately entered my fangs.
As expected, it was delicious. Even more so than before.
It felt smoother somehow. Like her blood is willingly letting themselves be drank by me.
"S-snow, slow down…"
And because of that, I ended up drinking far quicker than I should.
I slowed down for a bit and a couple of seconds later, I pulled out, leaving a satisfied Sun.
When that was done, Night gently turned my head to face her and told me the same lines that Sun had said to me before.
"Snow… I'd like to devote my life to you. Will you let me?"
I nodded my head as if it was natural to agree.
"Um... I know I've said it before but I'd like to say it again… Please let me offer my whole being to you, Snow."
Sun followed in a fluster.
I nodded to that as well.
And now, these two had offered themselves to me for some reason. But if they wanted it, then I'll let them. I don't see it being bad in the end anyway.
More so, if they devote their lives to me, I'll have company until the day they die.
… I shouldn't think about them dying though. It makes me feel sad.
The mood around us as well seemed to have returned to normal. I didn't know what caused it in the first place or if it's just my imagination.
But it didn't look like the two minded it so it shouldn't be a problem.
"… although even though we said that…"
Night suddenly said and pausing for a brief period to correct her sitting position.
"… we were really worried for you, Snow. Maybe it's not for us to say this but, will you promise us that you won't do something reckless like that again?"
When she asked me that, I couldn't help but nod in agreement.
•••
After all of that, we headed off to bed. Though this time something is clearly different.
They're hugging me but it wasn't the hug that I was expecting. Rather than a comfortable hug, they're hugging me as if to prevent me from escaping.
I could escape easily if I want to but that's not something I should tell them. Other than that, there's also the fact that my slightest movement wakes one of them up.
But that only applies in the first few minutes after they've slept. After that, I could slip myself out of their embrace without waking them up.
But I decided not to. I'm not so dumb that I wouldn't understand why they're trying to prevent me from getting out of bed after all of that.
And it's not like I hate this. It's warm and that's all that matters.
After a few hours of being a hug pillow, Sun and Night woke up and the day started as usual.
Night would make something to eat while Sun hugs me affectionately, all the while drinking her blood.
Though more clingy than usual but I don't mind.
After that, I went out, wearing the cloth, covering me.
What will I be doing? Going to look for Trish of course. I'm planning on telling her my suggestion for her and it seemed that I'm the only one she's willing to talk to among the four of us.
But as I headed towards the place where her house is, I saw the two brothers.
Leo and Chris.
They looked panicky when I saw them. Aimlessly looking around all over the place, shouting Trish's name for some reason.
"Chris! Leo!"
When I called out to them, they immediately turned their heads and the way they turned them, they were clearly surprised.
"Snow!"
"Big sister!"
I heard Chris and Leo shout.
Since we can't have us shouting while having a conversation, I approached them.
But before I could reach them, they reached me first.
"Snow! This is... Bad!"
With rough breaths, Chris spoke while slouching and taking in large amounts of air with each breath.
When he finally calmed down a little, Chris told me something I couldn't possibly believe.
"Snow, it's Trish. When I came to her house to apologize, she wasn't there!"
"Huh…?"
