A Soul and Its Vessel 2

A Soul and Its Vessel 2

When I opened my eyes, I found myself inside some sort of building. The building itself looks to be old and ruined.

Although the inside of the building is dark, the light from the sun shines through the many cracks in the roof and windows so I'm able to see.

But regardless if there's light or not, I'm still capable of seeing.

Is this one of the vampire's power?

At my front, there are 2 columns of benches and each column has 8 benches. Some are destroyed though and some have mushrooms growing on them. At the very end of the building, is the door which seemed to have been tightly shut by a plank. The plank itself looks old as well.

As I looked behind me, I saw some sort of statue of someone. Must be someone important then. I wonder if that 'guy' has a statue of his own.

Surveying the place a bit further, I spotted a mirror. I guess I should check my body then. But as soon as I tried to stand up, I immediately lost balance. I need to get used to this...

So these are my feet huh? It's odd to only use two limbs.

But what's even odder is why I even know of this?

It's like when I look at something, I immediately know what they are. More specifically, their name and their purpose.

Like, when I looked at my legs, I immediately know that they're legs and that they're used for walking, even though I only saw them for the first time.

This also applies to the windows and benches.

This must that tool that that guy mentioned.

Although it seems to only say what something is and nothing more.

For example, when I saw the statue, I only know that it's a statue. I don't know who it's based on or its creator.

But enough of that, I need to see myself first.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Since I'm having difficulty walking, I used my hands as well.

This seems to be the standard for how humans walk, by utilizing all four limbs, since it's easier to do it this way, at least, its what I think.

When I finally stood before the mirror, I tried to stand up to get a better look at myself.

Standing up is a lot easier than walking but it's still a struggle. As I thought, using all four limbs to walk is the right choice. This method seems to be only used when you're grabbing something up high.

Anyway, my body.

I have a head and a torso as well. How nice.

The top of my head is filled with this thing called hair. It's really long and black. Upon looking closer, I also have eyes which are faintly red. This thing must the ones responsible for sight. I should take care of them. I'd rather not return to those dark days.

I also have 3 holes on my face. The big one's the mouth and the two little ones are from the nose. And inside my mouth, I have two white protruding things. I just learned that they're called fangs.

Next is my torso. The part of my body where all my limbs and head are attached to. A very important body part. I should protect it as well.

There's also something squishy attached to my torso. These things seem to be called breasts and the protruding parts on the breast are called nipples. Their purpose is for breastfeeding? Not like I know that anyway.

Then to my arms and hands. This limb is quite dexterous so it isn't only used for walking. The hand as well as these things called fingers attached to it. It looks like it'll be useful for interacting with things.

Then below the torso is the waist. Where the legs are attached to. And in between the thighs is the thing called the vagina. Ah, this is the organ of the females. So I'm a female, huh? So this is where babies go out of... These babies must be small.

Maybe I should try it in the future. Reproduction, I mean.

Last would be my legs. The first impression, they're pretty useless. The only use I found with them is for walking. And for crushing things it seems.

Alright, this humanoid body seems alright. As for my overall appearance, I can't really tell if I'm cute but that guy said I am so maybe I am?

...I can't keep calling him 'that guy' right? I should give him a name.

For now, Lacorte seems just right.

Well then, let's head off to the outside.

Smashing the plank that's been keeping the door shut with my right leg, I set my limbs outside.

The outside is filled with sunlight... If I were a normal vampire, I would've died. Good thing I had those weaknesses removed.

So, this is the outside, huh? It's filled with 'trees' and 'plants'. How green.

I could also somehow smell creatures called animals as well. These animals also have this blood thing that Lacorte mentioned before.

I'm not the hungry at the moment so I'd rather refrain since getting this blood would result in the animal dying.

For now, I should travel around and see where I am.

•••

After traveling for a couple of hours, I finally felt something inevitable.

I'm hungry.

And the only available food source here is blood. More specifically, animal blood.

I don't know what other food sources there are but the only thing I know is blood.

Frankly, my throat is parched and I don't think water would solve the problem.

As such, blood is the answer.

I could somehow sense nearby animals and more or less determine their size. Must be another power of vampires.

Although the fact that I can tell that is through the smell of their blood that they faintly leak out, is making an organ inside me rumble.

Hmm... Would a small animal suffice?

Thinking that I pounced towards the nearby bush and caught a long-eared animal.

A rabbit.

Cutting off its head in a flash, blood gushed out from its neck.

It's like a blood eruption. To not let a single drop go out waste, I simply placed its neck inside my mouth. The fur isn't helping though.

After a few minutes, the gushing of blood now turned into a trickle. I guess it ran out. It's a bit lacking but this will have to do. Next time, maybe I should aim for a larger creature.

Wiping off the blood from my mouth and cheeks, I looked at the sun.

It seems to be getting darker every second. Not like it matters to me. The moonlight is just enough for me to keep going.
