Stopping Point

Fang Hu was getting tired of walking. He had been walking for two solid weeks now. Water was beginning run low, even if he could survive on half the amount of water as a mortal. He had been moving for 15 out of the 24 hours in the day, and if he had to reread the glossary one more time he'd puke.

"Haaaaa...."

Our hero could only sigh, spending much time alone in this place tended to have that effect on people. The Pheasant's Tail Tribe had assured him that there was a resupply point somewhere around here. 'Around here" being the most descriptive they could be on the rather primitive map they had given him. The thought that they had tricked him and left him out here to dehydrate to death had crossed his mind more than once, but for some odd reason he wouldn't believe they would do that. Not because he trusts them, mind you, but he felt like he would know if they tried to trick him. He didn't know where this feeling came from, he had only known them for less than a day, after all.

That said, what we know and what he knows are different things, hmm? Fang Hu still vastly undervalues the 'understanding' power. It might feel strange that after almost 3 weeks on this planet, he still doesn't grasp the fundamentals of his power. You might be like, "Oh WTF, is he still on that? Is this an OP protagonist™ story or a dense protagonist™ story?", and I might agree with you, but I hope you could give the, person who is now a, boy a chance. He has had only a single day of use to get a grasp on his power, and a pretty stressful one at that.

"... That must be it. I found the bitch."

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

The 'bitch' being a tall stone tower contrasting the nothing as far as the eye can see. It was ancient and made of stone. As Fang Hu got closer he noticed something off about the tower.

"Of course it's a pagoda, I should start getting used to seeing more asian stuff around. I'll be fine if it's traditional asian stuff, but if I ever hear a guy say, "Of course, as a Japanese, I need rice." I'll kick his ass. Never liked that line, for all it's used. Why suddenly start talking about rice in a story about a man fighting the strongest people in the world / saving the world / getting all the girls / being lazy. ..."

...

"Okay, I'll give you that last one, but it always pisses me off to hear it. Like, I know they eat a ton of rice in Japan, but there *have* to be other things, right? Why can't they miss junk food or a home cooked meal? I swear, it has to be some translator just swapping what they actually say, right?"

Our hero left the question unanswered, as he was still alone, and not quite crazy enough to expect an answer yet. As Hu approached the dilapidated pagoda, he felt something off was about the building. When he asked himself what, he was surprised to find out he could somehow tell, not what was wrong, but why it was wrong. It was as if he felt the intent of the people who caused it to happen. All this kinda freaked Fang Hu out, so he checked if anyone was there the best way he knew how.

"BAN SWOLO SHOT FIRST!!!!!"

 ...

"Guess that means no one's here. ... Neat!"

And so, after exploiting a loophole in the system, our hero entered the pagoda.
