Song Guanyu had a normal day. So far, he had woken up and trained his body and mind until breakfast. The elders weren't sure if that actually improved cultivation, but Guanyu knew it built muscle and improved his mind, and that has to count for something. After his morning meal he met up with his brother, Song Jun. Song Jun was three years Song Guanyu's senior, but was nowhere near his level of cultivation. That being said, Song Jun was still highly successful in the eyes of their sect and family. The Song family, one of the side families of the Subtle Scroll Sect, had only one cultivator stronger than Song Guanyu. Elder Song Xuefeng, the duo's mother, took claim of that title. She was one of the few core formation elders not from a main family in the entire sect, this would have normally caused some political uproar, but she never took much action as an elder.
The second and third places of their family ranking would be rewarded to Guanyu and Jun, in that order. Their father had not been of the sect, and they hadn't been a side family for nothing. The family and sect would have had problems with welcoming unknown outside blood into the sect, but they would be remiss to let such a powerful cultivator go for such a petty reason. A few preliminary tests proved that there were no curses among their lineage and that they were indeed Xuefeng's children. While they had no bloodlines or constitutions, the Song Family was still excited to have direct descendants from such a talented cultivator in their midst.
"Elder brother, have you managed to make any progress towards foundation establishment?"
"No, esteemed younger brother, I have not been able to understand your teachings, would you mind engaging in another bout with me? I would like to be showed your techniques again."
Song Guanyu and Jun headed to their usual training grounds, a qi-reinforced rectangle of dirt formally used for matches against visitors. Because of the nature of this arena, it was built a good way away from the main sect compound. The quiet helped Guanyu focus, and fewer people would come to challenge him, though he hadn't been challenged once since ascending to foundation establishment. He supposed old habits died hard. While the brothers travel down the main road towards their training grounds, Guanyu thought about his life here, his secret, his efforts, and his aspirations. He wanted to make his sect a much stronger existence, he had tried to tell his family his secret a few times, but something had stopped him every time he tried. The only option he had left was to try to make himself and his brother strong enough to have a serious say around the sect. His secret had made it possible to train every day since his birth, all the while finding better and better cultivation methods.
When they finally arrived at their training grounds, Song Guanyu brought up one of his many secrets, one of the few things allowing him to prosper in this world. While his brother stretched, Guanyu examined their statuses. That's right, Guanyu is a reincarnater, a true reincarnater, not a transmigrator, like a certain recluse scholar. He loved his new family very much, and while he would love to tell his family, he simply couldn't. Instead, this young scholar had jumped on every opportunity he had ever had in his young life.

The duo bowed to each other, and began their bout. They began practicing their martial arts first, circulating their qi throughout their own body was great practice building their dao pillars, as it allowed them to adapt their own body to their dao. The Song Siblings could be seen clashing throughout the rest of the morning. A passerby would be confused upon the sight of the bout. Both combatants were incredibly light on their feet, they danced around another, almost floating on the air. Every time they would clash, the loser would end up sent flying several feet away. Their martial art was great at evasion and surprisingly decent at defense, but their martial art had a glaring flaw in offense. No matter what they tried, it just wasn't as powerful as the other martial arts on the same level. That was why both of them utilized weapons, while simultaneously using their martial art to evade and defend.
After a time, the brothers had moved on from sparing to practicing with their weapons. They had no way to safely spar with their weapons, so they mainly trained as their techniques and mentors had instructed. They had almost exhausted themselves by the time it was time to head home for dinner.
"Little Guanyu, I think I managed to glean more information to the true nature of our dao. I will be catching up to you one of these days, you just have to wait for it, younger brother."
"Haha, I hope for nothing else older brother, that day will bring me great pride. Now lets leave that discussion for later. The head chef should have started dinner by now."
"Ohhhh, Yes! I love Zhenya's cooking, I hope she made her rice balls. You know how good they are, little bro."
"Yes yes, they are splendid. Even if it is untrue, I feel I must say it in this situation. 'Because I am a Japanese, I yearn for ric-"
Song Guanyu did not sense the attack coming until it was too late, before he knew it, a fist smashed into his face and sent him flying.
