Chapter 9: A New Goal

Chapter 9: A New Goal

Upon waking up from one hell of a weird dream, I saw that Luntra was still sleeping and Meqro was sleeping as well. My initial thoughts were someone getting in and being all ready to ambush us. Upon quickly scanning the room I found no potential threats but I instantly stood up with dagger and infused it with water. Quick scan of the room in defensive stance and no enemies around. Sure a good way to start the day. At least everyone was safe and still somehow sleeping. I used this as an opporunity to check out changes in my profile:

Name: Kuronto

Level: 5

EXP: 820/3000

HP: 130/130

HP Regen: 1.1 HP/h

MP: 65/65

MP Regen: 2.1 MP/s

SP: 26/26

SP Regen: 2.1 SP/s

Armor: 4

Affinities: Water

Gold: 579

So, I've managed to get quite the level up and the zombie grind paid off. I personally counted killing around 30 zombies. And level up meant new some neat power up options, so I did not waste any time and immediatly checked my stats:

Level: 5

EXP: 820/3000

Advanced Stats

This time around I spent 2 points on everything but agility, which only got 1 point. As for spell list, I was surprised as that sign meant something new:

Water Bolt (1-10 MP)

Water Infusion (1 MP/s)

Water Boost (15 MP)

Water boost? I really wanted to know why it cost so much MP, so I clicked to know more info:

Water Boost - gathers water aura around user's fists or feet which can be unleashed and do increased damage and knock the target back. Can also be used for travelling around.

Damage: [25%] of base damage.

So basically it was a one-time boost to my punch or kick which would really be boosted and could be used to knock someone back. So hitting someone with the sexy trajectory kick would bring in the typical overpowered anime kick, which really destroyed the terrain. Besides the cost, I was pretty satisfied with what I had. But at this point I knew that basic elements had similar type of spells - bolt, boost and infusion as hidden. What really interested me is what it was like for dark, light or even the so called balance elements. I guess I will just wait for the two to wake up to know for sure. Maybe I should go out and... Oh. The possibility of ambush would not really go down, would they? I used water boost on my fists and it really looked like some boxing gloves but they felt really epic for no reason. Thinking I am a badass, I slammed the door open and... Saw nobody. And I still had the water boost.

"Got you!" the scream came from the left corner of the shelter.

That really ruined an actually cool stealth attack and I easily dodged the dagger infused with what appeared to be wind. The guy continued doing same fucking slashes that I quickly got used to. What seemed weird is his face that seemed weirdly familiar especially with the glasses on and the fact that the face itself had an unusually calm expression. Having decided that paying attention to my enemy's facial features was not the best idea I instead focused on dodging. It did not take too much time to find a perfect opening and make quite an uppercut to launch the dude in the air. I used the right fist's boost but there was still left some on the left fist so I assumed where he would fall and as he was falling I quickly got to the place and hit him in the abdomen with the other hand when he fell, which also made me somewhat jump up. But overall, this combination left the guy lying down with 44 HP. I quickly approached him while looking around. I saw nobody else but I felt like it was a good idea to shout towards shelter to get Meqro and Luntra to come out and join the interrogation. Feeling no additional threat, I pulled out my own dagger and pointed it at the guy.

"So, you get a simple option: tell me everything and I'll..."

He quickly stood up feeling ready to continue fighting without letting me finish my sentence but his wind infused slashes felt to age like a goddamn milk. Parrying or dodging them was not a problem, but finding a good opening was a problem. I managed to find 2 openings to deal 2 good body slashes to leave the guy with 8 HP. Though not significantly, he increased the distance with some leaps. That made me quit infusing the blade and start charging up just a single water bolt. But he still had infusion, which seemed weird. One of options could be him either being unwise of mana usage or him preparing to greatly shorten his distance with me. Regardless of what option it was, I used the water bolt and water boost on my feet right after. Wherever he was going to dodge, I was going to make a leap there and end his fucking career.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

"You two, stop right now!" the voice that seemed to belong to Luntra managed to break my focus and turn back.

"What the fuck happened, Kuronto?" Meqro seemed quite interested in the whole situation.

"Hey, that dude ambushed me, okay?! That by default gives me a right to take his life!" I screamed while pointing at his approximate location

""Ambushed", you say?" I bet I had heard that voice before. "And that's after you kidnapped Luntra?!"

""Kidnapped" my ass! She tagged along because she has no knowledge of this place whatsoever!" now we were going to have a debate.

I thought we were going to continue fighting, despite the guy knowing Luntra and vice versa. But what stopped me was my suddenly shortened field and range of vision, apparently decreased armor and base damage. It did not require to be a genius to guess that it was Luntra's dark magic. Although the entire thing lasted for approximately 3 seconds. And that was plenty for me to calm down. Apparently the same thing happened to the guy. To show the lack of hostility, I put my knife in the inventory while looking in the guy's eyes. He knew what I wanted from him and he put his dagger in the inventory as well.

"Who is that guy, Luntra?"

"He is... my uh..."

"Brother," responded the guy.

"Ah, you can consider me some sort of escort for her. Name's Kuronto."

"Luntra," he sighed, "I knew you had weird taste for guys, but this one's off many of my charts."

"Now what ideas are running through that damned head of yours, Kenmo?"

Kenmo is quite interesting name indeed. I had no idea about the two were talking though, so I thought it might be a good idea to interrupt the quarrel:

"Anyways, there should be a new main quest by now, so quit fighting and let's see what it is."

"You might be smarter than I had initially anticipated."

It was quite interesting coming from a guy with 8 HP who failed to do any signifcant damage while ambushing me. I thought of letting it slide for now. But I was myself curious of what new quest we got, so I opened the quest menu:

Main Quests (1)

Visit A City Of Magic

Side Quests (1)

Learn More Magic

Hidden Quests (1)

Escort The VIP

I clicked on the quest for more details:

Visit A City Of Magic

Visit any city with a magic university in it

Rewards: +3000 EXP, 100 Gold, x2 Disinfectant, x2 Fried Meat

So we basically get rewards for just arriving to the place which was even marked on the map. Happily checking the map, I saw that it was... 87 kilometers away. Everyone was shocked at that, but we could not help it.

"Ah, while we're at it, Kenmo, right?"

"What business do you have with me?"

"Be extremely careful especially with that 8 HP of yours."

"You don't understand..."

"Alright, alright," I felt like interrupting this was once again a great idea. This guy could really stir up some problems. "We get that you had some good motives but just don't fuck up like that again. We don't even know if you can revive, so it would suck if your sister had to see you dying."

"Fine. I'll be careful from now on. But next time I will be sure to seize a victory."

"Now that's the spirit."

And with those words of mine, a great journey had begun.
