Chapter 8.1: A Dream

Chapter 8.1: A Dream

It did not feel as if I was asleep for too long. It felt as if I woke up less than an hour later but I woke up in a familar place. It was the place where I was before going to this world! Everything seemed familiar, including the female angel.

"Ah, so you've woken up, Kuronto."

"What the fuck am I doing here?"

"You were given the task to escort a certain person, right?"

"How do you know of it?"

"We have our own means. But there is something I wanted to tell you."

"Well then, go ahead."

"The girl you are escorting must be killed."

"Hey, what now?"

"She's one of many demons' weapons."

"In what fucking way?"

"Due to a mistake in our world she and some other dark magic users can unlock a spell that we wanted to remove as of whole."

"What about the damn demon who wants to hunt me down?"

"We can handle it to a degree. What matters is that we don't want to start a war."

I instantly remembered the demon's phrase: "she's a key to ending the war". That means either side lying, so I had come up with response I thought was the best:

"I'll take it in consideration."

"This isn't supposed to be taken under consideration but executed as an order," her eyes were getting brighter and she seemed to give off a different aura.

"Stop this now, my friend," a very familiar voice was heard a similar angel also entered the room.

"What now?"

"He's got a point. As much as that demon was our enemy, he actually helped Kuronto and you can't deny that."

"Well that was a part of a..."

"Initially he was to save the girl. But he put it as if he saved the entire group."

"But come to think of it," I could not hold my thoughts within me, "you guys are kind of weird angels."

"We used to be human beings like you. For whatever reason, selected few are ascended and handle this place," the male angel responded.

"Ah, that explains why she's a bitch for muscles."

"I still question why she was ascended."

"Hey, quit talking like that about me already!"

"Anyways, Kuronto," said the male angel, "you are the one to make your choice. But I pity that right now you're between rock and a hard place right now."

"As much as I hate you, I have to admit that you're right, my friend."

"I have a proposal," I hope that they will buy it.

"Now that's interesting. Go ahead."

"What if I don't kill Luntra but instead turn her against the demons?"

"You wish it was this simple. She's gone through times of being poor, times of injustice, times of murder and so on. If you really want her to work for humans that she deeply hates, go ahead."

"How about cooperation then?"

"Huh?"

"If you help me against demons, I will make Luntra a weapon of yours."

"Now that's an intriguing deal. But what kind of help are you talking about?"

"While you can't help me directly, what about adding the demons to my bestiary? I can study them and come up with my own ways of killing them."

"You're a funny guy indeed. Well, for now we'll consider the deal but we can't promise anything. Remember, if that girl becomes demons' weapon, you will become our enemy as well, which won't bring a lot of benefits. Our conversation ends here."
