Chapter 3: The First Quest

Chapter 3: The First Quest

As me and Luntra were heading out of what was likely a safe zone, I saw some people just trying to beat the living shit out of a tree. It appeared to do nothing, which supported the idea that we need tools to chop down wood. So, we needed to collect some sticks, rocks and use oonga boonga technologies to make a simple axe or something. Before leaving the area, I told Luntra to open crafting menu and I myself opened it to see some things that I wanted:

Crafting

Tools

Weapons (Available at Level 2)

Artifacts (Available at Level 15)

Potions (Available at Level 5)

Armor (Available at Level 4)

Food

Buildings

So, apparently almost every category had simple crafts that could be done without anything special and complex crafts that required special crafting station or something. But honestly... Level restriction to make fucking potions? They really should be making some broken stuff like vodka there to restrict it to that level. And artifacts at level 15? Fucking level 15? Honestly, I had no fucking idea how quickly it would take to increase level to 15. But for now I only need to see what tools I can craft:

Stone Working Blade

Stone Axe

To say that my disappointment hit rock bottom within that instance is to say fucking nothing. I anticipated there being at least a goddamn pickaxe. I could not even care about metal-based tools or anything. But just 1 tool? Was I that retarded?

"So, 2 sticks, stone working blade and 3 web," Luntra's speech interrupted my utter disappointment.

"Kuronto, are you even listening?"

"I am, damn it. Stone working blade will require us 2 slime, 3 small stones and uh... A sturdy stone as a crafting station. Really?"

"Apparently to sharpen them into working blade."

"Well, no fucking shit. I am more curious about what is classified as a sturdy stone, you dumb bitch."

"If you weren't my only hope for survival, I'd be with someone else."

"Like a true whore you are."

"Excuse me?!"

"Bitch, we still need to kill spiders and slime to get web and slime. And I fucking dare you to say you're afraid of spiders."

"Where did that assumption come from?"

"Oh, that's a cute spider behind you", I said looking a little above her to give a hint of unexistent spider behind her.

Never before had I thought girl's screaming could be so fucking loud. The goddamn bitch almost made me deaf here. After realizing how I toyed with her, she tried to kick me in my weakest spot but the leg went through. Seeing that, I was really glad that it just went through. But her frustrated face with tears suggested me to not pull a prank like this.

"What was that for?" I could not tell if she was screaming or crying or both.

"Well, we're likely to encounter spiders like that in the wild and I thought of testing you."

"That was a bad test!"

"You were scared shitless of something this obvious. If you don't overcome your fear of spiders you're fucked."

"Y-you don't get it! If it was a real spider I'd react differently!"

"You would invent ultrasonic scream spell?"

"Wait it exists?"

"It doesn't, dumb bitch!"

"I have a name, retard!"

"And so do I."

"Ugh. Let's just get it over with."

"We should've been out of this zone 10 minutes ago."

"Let's not stretch it further."

"Ironic coming from you but ok."

We then went out of safe zone and I saw the following words above my head "Leaving Safe Zone". The instance Luntra read those words she turned to me and... Tried to kick me in my weakest spot again. We settled the matter quickly and went deeper in the forest. I noticed that there were several bars, each indicating my health, mana and stamina levels. However, there was no mini-map to at least have an idea of where we are. There were also hunger and thirst bars I was curious about and... They were present. That will be too damn annoying. But as we both were walking around we managed to get some sticks and stones on our way.

"I have 7 sticks and 5 small stones," Luntra was looking at me hoping my progress was any better.

"3 sticks and 6 small stones."

"But where do we find slimes and spiders?"

"Better question is how we beat them. Health regeneration is not really the fastest thing in the world, so we should be careful."

"We both should have some magic. I saw that there was a spell list in "Stats" tab.

That was weird but I opened my Stats tab to find a spell list. Mine consisted of only 1 spell:

Water Bolt (1-10 MP)

I then decided to click on it and saw more information about the spell:

Water Bolt - focuses water at one point near caster's index finger, increasing it's size, damage and MP consumption. Can be shot from said index finger at any time.

Full Charging Time: [7.5] seconds

Damage: [2-20]

That was definately an interesting spell for a beginner. Apparently I could reduce charging time and increase damage but there must be some other epic spells out there. Luntra repeated after me and found her own spell, which she tried casting right away but could not.

"How does it even work?"

"Have you even read the description of that spell?"

"I mean I uh... I read something but I can't even cast it."

"There are several options. Firstly, you don't have enough mana for it. Secondly, that spell needs a target. And finally, you're just one hell of a dumb bitch who can't do something that simple."

"You never miss a damn chance to roast me like that. But fine, I'll check the second..."

"Don't. Not on me at least. There should some plains and that means slimes."

"Fine."

I used Map to find out where exactly plains are. And it appeared to show more as we progressed further. According even to that slight piece of information we had, plains were nearby. Arriving at the place, I saw a lot of slimes that were all on my knee level height wise and similar height spiders. I immediatly looked at Luntra, who seemed a bit scared, but not shitless this time.

"Making progress, aren't we?"

"Shut up and let's get it over with."

"Fairs."

I then proceeded to charge water bolt on both my index fingers, which surely doubled my mana consumption but also doubled my potential damage. Luntra, on the other hand, seemed to still be focused on certain spiders and slimes. At that point I was about to find out what magic affinity she had.
