I actually thought I was about to die there. But apparently that bitch actually did not lie. As I opened my eyes I saw a lot of people around me wearing the type of clothes you would see peasants wearing in medieval-based games. The first thing that caught my attention was a similar sphere to one I saw before, except it was bigger and was green. But another thing that caught my attention was the fact that within the sphere there were just plains. Outside the sphere I saw a huge forest, another way would lead to mountain and third way would lead to a cave.
"So we're supposed to use those resources to build shelters" a man near me mumbled.
I decided to pay some attention to him and he appeared to be tall, fit, dark-haired man with brown eyes who also wore glasses. I did not really like that about him because he is likely to be that annoying dude who thinks he is a protagonist and act all cool and shit until he gets scared shitless because he got beaten by a fucking slime. I knew he was going to mumble some random more random shit, so I interrupted him:
"You don't say? No fucking shit we are to build shelters."
"Ignorant kid."
"Ironic of you to talk about ignorance."
"Shut the fuck up you both!" this time the voice was different.
I had decided to check who the source of this voice is. It was a brunette girl with blue eyes approximately my age.
"Finally," she added, "now that you have my attention..."
"I sure needn't your attention," responded guy with glasses.
"He really said "needn't"," I cringed, "but anyways," this time I was actually paying my attention to the girl, "what were you gonna say?"
"I need to know how we'll build a shelter."
"Fool," said the glasses dude before leaving the scene.
"He's got an attitude problem," the girl sighed.
"Agreed."
"But back to shelter."
In this case, there were several possibilities. Since there was a crowd of people gathered here I could feel we would all be given tools, would be able to get wood with our bare hands or there were scattered a lot of materials for tools that everyone can craft to get the wood. But first things first, I first decided to open inventory. As my mind was set on it, I saw my avatar, no items and the following stats:
Level: 1
EXP: 0/1000
HP: 100/100
MP: 50/50
Gold: 0
Ah, so your average RPG game. My affinity and other crap must be in my profile, that I also decided to check to see some details about myself. I opened it rather easily too and found some info on the left side:
Name: Kuronto
Level: 1
EXP: 0/1000
HP: 100/100
HP Regen: 1 HP/h
MP: 50/50
MP Regen: 2 MP/s
SP: 25/25
SP Regen: 2 SP/s
Armor: 0
Affinities: Water
Gold: 0
I could easily understand what HP and MP meant, but SP was not so common. Looking at this regeneration I could assume it to be "Stamina Points", which could probably be used for stuff like dashing, running or using special skills. What was also interesting is lack of "gender" info. It is usually present in any proper RPG game and in some games it matters stats wise. For example, men majorly will be stronger physically and have more stamina but will be slower and weaker in magic than women. What also put me off was slow as hell health regeneration, which implied that I had to be careful or use a shit ton of health potions or food. Although my brief thoughts were interrupted:
"So your name is Kuronto."
"You can see my profile tab?" I quickly closed the tab to prevent other information leaking.
"It's pretty transparent but your name was still mirrored."
"Wait, what is your name anyways?"
"Hm... If you can tell me how you opened that "inventory tab", you will get to see my name."
"I don't know honestly. I just put my mind to seeing my inventory like in any other game."
"How do you even do that?"
"Have you played no games in your life?"
"I mean I have but... uh..."
"What?"
"None of them had something like this."
"Have you only played board games before? Like do you even know a computer exists?"
"I do, damn it! It's just that I've never played this exact genre."
I knew it would not be easy to explain the concept of inventory and profile tabs. Therefore, I had decided to break it down for her like it was her backpack, except it was not hanging on her not was visible. She somehow understood the concept and opened inventory. I saw that every space of iventory had a question mark instead of empty space. I could not see more because she closed the tab. I then explained the profile tab being her ID except with more information there. This one took less time and then I managed to see stats that were mirrored but still readable:
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
Name: Luntra
Level: Hidden
EXP: Hidden
HP: Hidden
HP Regen: Hidden
MP: Hidden
MP Regen: Hidden
SP: Hidden
SP Regen: Hidden
Armor: Hidden
Affinities: Hidden
Gold: Hidden
All the stats but name were hidden? Is she the type to pretend to be weak, helpless and shit and after a while she just annihilates you and reveals maxed out stats? I did not want to put up with this bullshit. All I wanted to do was look cool and pretend like I did not fucking see her stats being hidden. But I mean had I not had crush on Mentra I would probably try to hit on her. That would give me some chances of her not beating me up, robbing me and then fucking laughing at me with that annoying cliche antagonist laugh. But sending a friend request at some point was a safe bet. In a lot of games stats are hidden from others unless they are in a friend list.
"Is something off about my profile or is my name so unusual?" my thoughts were once again interrupted by her.
"Your stats are hidden, Luntra," it took me around 5 seconds to understand my retardation.
"I couldn't see yours either."
Apparently she either lied like an antagonist bitch or she was genuine. It would be good if I could test out such theories. But for now I could see people opening and closing certain tabs, all of which had showed the same results, which meant that she did not lie. As for me, I had decided to open my profile tab once again. This time I paid attention to options that were on the right side:
Profile options
Time: 13:34 (24 hours)
Quests
Crafting
Bestiary (Available at Level 2)
Home (Own A House To Unlock)
Map
Stats
Friends (Available at Level 3)
Clan (Available at Level 10)
Inventory
Of all the things I cared about quests the most, so I had chosen Quest option to see the following:
Main Quests (2)
Survive A Night
Reach Level 3
Side Quests (2)
Build A Shelter
Kill A Slime
Hidden Quests (0)
Are you telling me that the nerd with glasses actually guessed one of the side quests? Or was he smarter than me to unlock Quest menu? Luntra saw my actions and repeated after me to see the exact same quests.
"It appears that this green zone will be useless if surviving a night is an achievement."
"I mean, it was likely made as a safe zone so surviving here might not count but the fact that other players can't kill each other here is kinda good too."
"So, shall we go and survive a night?"
"Ah yes, we can really die like fucking idiots."
"You seem to know enough to survive a night though."
"Bitch, are you telling me I'm supposed to know everything about this world when we've just appeared here after our old world was destroyed?!"
"Come to think of it... Yes."
"Sigh... Alright, we will complete that damn side quest and a main quest as well. But if that's enough for us to get to level 3 we will send each other friend requests."
"And why is that?"
"So that we know each other better and don't kill each other, you dumb bitch."
"I'd rather go alone actually."
"Oh, that makes things easier."
"Are you... Wait what?"
"I'd rather actually be alone and care only for myself."
"Wait! I was kidding! Don't leave me alone!"
She then proceeded to cry and cling on me, which did not really bother people around.
"What's with your attitude now?! You said you'd rather be alone!"
"I don't know shit about this place you vulgar retard!"
"Then quit crying and get yourself together!"
Those words seemed to have some calming effect on her. After some time, she asked:
"So, what should we do now, Kuronto?"
"Head out of fucking green zone. We should still have enough time to get some stuff."
"Fine."
And so, we had begun our journey. My initial mission was to find Mentra and confess to her properly. Wait, I totally could not afford to be seen like that by her! She would beat the living shit out of me if she saw me confessing to her patheticly! It was a necessity for me to learn fire magic for some epic fireworks and get a ring so damn good only Mentra could wear it. But maybe I was having high hopes... Well, I guess there is only one way to find out.
