Finally, a time has come for me. I have been gathering the courage for months. And now, sitting besides me was none other than the angel, Mentra. She was dressed in a beautifully blue dress. Her long blond straight hair seemed to reflect the moon in the night sky as we have been sitting outside a decent restaurant. Her makeup was noticeable, but not too heavy. All of that combined really made me wonder if I could simply confess to her. I barely looked at her face due to shyness but I could see her smile and brown eyes that seemed as if toying with me. Staring at plates with almost finished food and white tablecloth did not really help a lot. I knew I could not keep waiting forever. I took a deep breath and said:
"Mentra, I..."
Before I could finish my confession, I saw a bright flash for some seconds before appearing in a weird place. It was really weird to be honest. It seemed huge but it appeared to have clear borders. It all felt like being inside a big sphere with gray lighting. Standing on the floor in the middle, I caught a glimpse of a what appeared to be a female human being in white robe and with wings almost as tall as her body without taking legs in consideration. I would consider starting a conversation if any of my courage was left after I was about to actually confess, damn it! I then decided to notice her long black hair and glowing yellow eyes.
"Will you just keep silently staring at me?" it spoke with an actual female voice.
"What are you?"
"I am what you people generally call an angel."
"Don't fool me, bitch. You're not Mentra," I said as I fell on my knees with disappointment and raised a fist with an intent to hit this floor.
"Hey! Have some respect for a higher being!"
"Quit acting like an emo damn it! Just because you have those wings you bought in a random market and glowing eyes which is likely a mask..."
"They are not a mask, retard!" the creature's eyes then started glowing brighter and wings seemed to be bigger than before.
"You haven't denied the emo part!"
"I don't even fucking know what "emo" means! I'm an angel!"
"Don't bullshit me! I know angels don't swear!"
After that phrase, the angel took a deep breath. Seconds later, a beam of light pierced the top of the sphere and seemed to have some effect on that angel. Being surprised, I could not help but ask:
"What the fuck was that? Are you in some battle mode?"
"That is just how we angels calm down," she was damn smiling. I was almost sure she was about to scream and swear the living shit out of my soul. It was all too suspicious. But she saw my suspicion and responded gently, "for now I have no evil intention towards you."
"I don't like the damn "for now part". You better..."
"Ok, now back to what I wanted to say. You're confused with a sudden flash and then also sudenly appearing here, am I right?"
My surprised expression gave her the answer she wanted.
"So, you are one of billions people that we have to deal with. A higher being that you refer to as "god" accidentally destroyed the wrong world. It will take a lot of effort and time to restore yours. Therefore, the solution we've come up with is to send you all in a different world. Being male and likely playing those video games, you should be familiar with an RPG system."
An RPG system. It has its own fun by getting your character stronger by increasing its levels, getting new skills and access to stronger equipment. But its biggest drawback is need of grinding. I could not be bothered with it in game, let alone real life. But besides, I needed to know some more things that mattered:
"Does it have a free-to-play system? And does it have level restriction for equipment?"
This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
"As for that system, that world doesn't have it due to it being pointless. As for second question, there are some restrictions for unique equipment but overall no level restriction."
Both were good news. The free-to-play system often implied a need in a lot of grinding in many ways to obtain in-game advantage that can otherwise be obtained by paying real-world money. But it felt as if there was no need to ruin everyone's impression of the world with something so unecessary. Second question was important too because it would suck if getting good equipment early on could not be used due to level restriction. But unique requirements... I guess it is just like having fire resistance to wear lava-based armor or something. But my thoughts were interrupted with similarly looking angel, this time male one and with shorter cut entering the sphere.
"What's with the sad face, my friend?" said the female angel.
"Oh man, I can't handle the retardation in my area," the voice seemed rather stressed.
"What do you mean?" my curiousity was peaking.
"I am to handle type of people you call "weebs" and "karens"."
"The stress must be unimaginable. You truly are an angel," I felt as if almost tearing up.
"Hold on now. How do you not doubt him being an angel even though you said that angels don't swear?"
"You don't get it," I tore up because I knew her brains could not comprehend the weight that the dude angel had to carry on his shoulders.
"Anyways, how often did you use cleansing beams, my friend?"
"One beam every five or three people."
"What? The most I've ever heard of was one beam every twenty people! Just how much did this nation degrade within decades?"
"What do you mean degrade?" my curiousity was as high as ever.
"The last time we did similar stuff was during what you people now call "World War Two"," the male angel responded.
"And they were fine men too. All willing to defend their country and are always ready for a fight. But their strength and overall stats..." that female angel seemed to be acting somewhat weird.
"You can quit spreading your lust," the male angel responded.
"Oh man, she really has a kink for muscles."
"Yeah, she's a bitch for fit men."
"Hey! Don't talk about me like that, especially in my presence!" the female angel's eyes seemed to get brighter.
"She usually gets pumped up over something like that and it's always funny."
"We call those people "tsundere" in our world."
"Hm... I will be sure to note that."
"Whatever that means, quit it! Anyways, this boy is to select his magic affinity at first. I don't care how he'll use it. But you, my friend, should get back to work."
"Back to stressful work now, are we?"
"I will remember your great sacrifice, my greatest friend," I was almost crying as I was saluting the male angel who walked into on of the worst imaginable pits of mental suffering.
The female angel then coughed to get my attention and presented me with a selection of cards, each having a certain element. There basica elements like water, fire, earth, wind to less common like lightning, ice, dark, light and even something called "balance". Apparently something underdogs would choose, I guess. In any case, I would never forget my nerd friend's endless speeches on how water element was actually realistically the best element in all of existance, so I decided to go with water. Picking the card up, I noticed myself suddenly disappear. I knew that it was a progress to transfer me to another world if that angel was not lying. Oh well, I really have hopes that all of that was not just a beautiful bullshit to get rid of all of humanity. But if it is indeed true. I must meet Mentra and then I will gather my courage and confess to her in that new world!
