Another year went by and for Thomas that year was both great and bad. Great because his new friend, Latia managed to get him a magical weapon capable of acting as a wand, but at the same time bad because the same devil friend of his accidentally met Irina one time when she visits him. When Irina's and Thomas's parents heard Irina shouting, all four of them rush upstairs only to see Thomas being dragged around by Irina and another new girl they haven't met yet.
For Thomas's parents, this looked funny and adorable, but for Irina's parents, the presence of a devil made everything dangerous, especially with how secretive their daughter's training was, and now a devil had made contact with her. While everyone was trying to figure out what they should do now, the boy who made this situation possible simply sigh before gently taking both of the girls' hands and walking with them into the living room.
Once they reached the living room, Thomas took his hands back before sitting on the sofa, fearing that if he wasn't doing that his mother would ground him, at least that's what her eyes were telling him. As soon as the parents were all in the living room, Thomas look at each other before taking a deep breath.
"It's a nice day isn't it?"
Rather than answering his stupid question the girls and his mother glared at him as if he did something wrong. Seeing that there was no other way he would get away with this, Thomas decided to let his mother question him as she sees fit.
[First things sweetheart, who's this lovely girl? ]
"Everybody, this is my friend Latia Astaroth. We met back in Diagon Alley and since that day, we became friends. She came from time to time and plays with me."
[What about Irina? Isn't she your friend?]
"Of course, she's my friend, but can't I like both of them and be friends with them? What's with this question, mom?"
Kate smiled when she heard her son answer, however, the girls start blushing when they heard Thomas's words.
"I like Tom too." Before Thomas could react, Irina jump over to him and hugged him. Latia on the other hand rolled her eyes at the church girl before approaching Thomas and pinching his hand.
"Thomas is my friend, of course, I like him, too."
Watching Thomas getting all red, especially when Latia and Irina showed their affection for him, made Kate smile brightly, while Myra covered her mouth with the back of her hand and softly giggled, not caring anymore about Latia's origin.

"Would you look at that Kate, your son is really popular, isn't he?"
[He is, considering just how little he cares about making friends at school.]
While this was by no means the first time his mother and Myra teased him, contrary to what his usual response was, Thomas, smiled at them making both women look at him as if he was a ghost.
"Well mom, aunty Myra, while I appreciate that you two love to tease me, I don't have all that many friends mostly because the kids at my school are boring, besides I like to spend my time with Irina and Latia than befriend some random kids that don't know anything like this. Anyways, leaving aside my friendship with Irina and Latia, does anyone want to ask me anything else?"
Just as Touji was about to ask me something, his wife, walked in front of us, looking at Latia.
"Do you know what Latia is, Thomas?"
"Yes, aunty. She's a devil, though a beautiful one. I always thought that they would have horns and wings and be red like in some books and shows."
Latia smile at his answer, but Irina frowned before pinching the boy. Despite the pain, Thomas still looks at Myra, waiting for her to continue her interrogatory.
"Do you know that we and the devils aren't exactly on the best terms right? So what will you do if for some reason you have to choose between my daughter and Latia? Will you be able to choose one of them over the other?"
For the first time in a while, Thomas froze, unable to think of an answer to this question. Yes, Irina was his first human friend as well as the one with who he spent most of his time before Latia, but at the same time, Latia was also his friend. Not only was she the reason he could use magic now, a year earlier than he was supposed to do, but she was also his second friend.
No one said anything for a few minutes when suddenly Thomas let out a sigh. "I can't answer, aunty. Yes, I view both of them as my friends, and because of that, I won't be able to choose one over the other."
Unlike what Thomas thought Myra would do, the woman nodded her head at the boy before taking a seat in the nearest chair, as if what she was about to say was a heavy burden.
"I didn't want to say this now, but Irina would move out of England in a few days, and for quite a while she wouldn't be able to contact or see you."
As soon as Myra dropped the bomb, Irina's eyes went wide open before she buried her head into Thomas's chest, crying. For the second time today, Thomas didn't know what to do or say, and because of that he did the best thing his mind could come up to, gently caressing Irina's back, trying his best to calm his friend. It took her a few minutes before she finally stop crying, but Irina was still holding onto Thomas, fearing that she would never see him again if she gets off him.
Seeing that her daughter had somewhat calmed down, Myra decided to continue. "I know that this is hard for you dear, but you knew that this day would come sooner or later. At least now, we won't leave suddenly as we did back in Japan. If I remember correctly you cried when you found out that you won't be able to play with Issei any longer."
"I don't care about him anymore. He was a pervert, mom! Thomas is better."
Just as everyone thought that Irina would continue saying something bad about that boy, she turns towards Latia, glaring at her as if she was some kind of enemy.
"I might leave soon, but I'll make sure that you won't win!"
"If you want to play like that."
