Chapter 14 - A deal with the devil

The trip back was quiet to say the least, mostly because Thomas was in no mood of talking after he found out that someone as young as him would not be able to get a wand until he enrolls at Hogwarts, two years from now. While he still got some things to preoccupy his free time, Thomas was not happy about that, at least not now.

As soon as they arrived home, Thomas kissed his parents before going back to his room, ready to sleep his disappointed mood away, when he felt his friend, making his way toward his chest. Looking at his blanket, Thomas saw Mars.

"What do you want Mars?"

"Can't I check on you?"

"Mars, we both know that you'd rather sleep or whatever you do rather than check up on me, especially when I'm like this. So what's up?"

"Fair point, smart ass. I'm smiling something foul on your body, and let me tell you something other than devil magic, nothing stinks like that. So my brother in suffering, where in the seven hells have you met a devil?"

"I didn't meet any devils. I've been with mom and dad, as well as Aunty Myra and Irina most of the day."

"Are you sure, because there's no way I would mistake that foul magic for anything in this world?"

When he thought about it for a second, Thomas remembered when he got lost and met that beautiful-looking woman wearing some sort of maid clothes. Maybe she was the devil?

"I got lost while walking back with my parents, and after I found out that I can't get a wand, my mind kind of wandered off, that's when a woman in some maid outfit stopped me and asked me if I need help. Maybe that's why you feel magic on me?"

"That's quite possible, so check your pockets or your body for any items or markings. We have to get rid of the markings as soon as possible."

A few minutes later, Thomas found a small piece of paper in his pocket, with a ritual written on it as well as a name.

"The Astaroth services for needy humans? Those devils did become dumb after the last war for god's sake."

"Astaroth?"

"One of the 72 devil houses. Basically the royalty of the underworld. My suggestion is to never interact with those things since most of them are backstabbing liars that would rather kill you than actually honor a contract. At least that's how it was when I wasn't a snake."

"Can I ask you a question related to those devils?"

"Aren't we pals? Of course, you can ask me anything about them."

"You say that Astaroth is part of the royalty, right? So is there a chance that they could get me a wand?"

"I doubt they would be able to get a wand, considering that all of the wands have to be made by someone related to the Ministry of Magic and shit of the UK, but there are many things that could be used as a medium to use magic. However, as I said before, if I were you I wouldn't put my trust in them. "

"Sorry Mars, but I'm desperate to get my magical training started. I'm sick of reading books and not being able to do anything."

"Whatever you want, kiddo, but remember if it's too good to be true, then it's clearly a trap."

Thomas nodded at his friend before he get off his bed and walked to the middle of his room, before drawing a circle with some chalk. Once the circle was done he ripped the paper before throwing it into the circle. A second later, a small blonde girl, the same age as he, appeared where the paper dropped. Just as the magical circle disappeared, the little girl look around the room, wondering who contacted her when she notice Thomas looking at her with his eyes wide open. A small smile ghosted over her lips just as he walked towards the boy.

"How do you do? My name is Latia Astaroth, a devil. What can I do for you today?"

For a few seconds, Thomas didn't know what to do or how to respond, but once he calmed his excitement down, he straighten his back and look into the girl's eyes.

"Hey, sorry for this sudden call? Anyways, I was wondering if you could help me with something, not so easily getable for a nine-year-old boy. Also, it's nice to meet you, my name's Thomas Grayson."

"Hmm, I will be direct with you Thomas, so that we won't beat around the bush any longer. I can feel that you are quite strong of a human boy and I can more or less think about what someone from England could want, but please do tell me what can I do. Then we would discuss the price."

"Well, I have been today to Diagon Alley, a place where wizards and witches buy various stuff that a normal human can't get their hands on, and I wanted to get a wand for myself, but apparently one can't get one before they are eleven years old… So I was wondering if there's any chance you could help me out with this problem."

"I hate to disappoint, but no one other than a proper, registered wand maker could give you one, however, most of them are part of the Ministry of Magic if I remember correctly, but do you really need a wand? Won't another medium work just as fine as a wand?"

"I don't really know. It might work or it might not work, I haven't tested that yet."

"If that's the case, can you tell me what are you good at? Like a sport, hobby, or something along that line, so that I could think about that would be perfect for you."

"I like reading, training with the sword, and spending time with my friends. That's kind of all of the things I do… "

"Hmm, a sword or grimoire might work for you, though I fear that using a grimoire might get you straight to prison since it's kind of illegal to have one nowadays from what I've read. A magical sword could do the trick I think. "

"Do you have one lying around?"

"No, why would I have one? I'm going to get one for you, but what would I get in return?"

Latia looked Thomas up and down, thinking about something, making the boy sweat in fear of what she might ask when he suddenly saw her smile at him.

"Let's be friends, Thomas. That would be my price."
