I was sitting on my throne while enjoying that wonderful feeling. In the meantime, the whole room filled with orange light coming through the massive window behind the throne. There was nothing to do as I waited until the rest of my unit finished search of the castle, so I started to think, 'I know next to nothing about governing and these first days under a new regime will be hard, So it would be better if I let others manage that... This is not some stupid kingdom management novel where some random dude solves all problems in the kingdom almost instantly. Yes, I will go into a Bif's dungeon and evolve. ' I kept waiting for half an hour, but none came, but I wasn't afraid as I could see their auras moving normally. Bored, I played with my hands, making random weird gestures with them, slapping them against each other and so on. Finally, someone walked into the room. It was a masked figure of the dark.
"What took you so long? I have been waiting here for ages." I glared at a newcomer.
He hesitated for a few moments before answering, "Ehmm, you forget to tell us where should we meet up."
It struck me like a bullet, making me feel embarrassed and stupid. "Ehmm, you are right, my mistake. Find everyone else and tell them that we will meet up here and make sure that you find a treasury."
He nodded before dashing away. I stood up out of the throne, wanting to search more of the castle. There were a few important rooms that I wanted to find. First was a treasury. Then there was a dungeon and finally my bedroom. At first, I decided to explore all rooms attached to the main hallway. I walked through that hallway, opening door after door. Most of them were luxurious bedrooms. There was also a meeting room with a massive table, a dining room also with a massive table in it. All of the rooms were furnished luxuriously and were perfectly clean without a speck of dust.
I opened the last doors that were located at the end of the hallway. I immediately started to smile when I spotted a massive bedroom with a king-size bed and massive windows. It was the most luxurious and spacious bedroom that I found out.
'Probably a room of a former lord. But now it is my.' I looked at the bed again, 'I will rather burn all sheets as I do not even want to think about what was happening on them.'
I walked back to the throne room because I spotted auras of darks grouping in a throne room. When I reached it, one of the darks started giving me a report as I sat on the throne, "We found a treasury, but doors are massive and enhanced with protective magic, so we didn't manage to open them. " he paused to breathe out before continuing, "We found several maids and manservants. We locked them in one of the rooms. Also, there is a couple of prisoners in a dungeon under the castle."
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Suddenly my attention changed towards a massive and powerful aura that was quickly approaching. I immediately summoned my staff and aimed it towards an aura. Darks in the room were perplexed about what I was doing as they looked at me as if I was mad. A man's silhouette in a robe with a weird tall collar and hood appeared in a window made of stained glass behind the throne. Darks spotted him too and brandished their weapons. Silhouette glowed and phased through the window without breaking it. That calmed me down a little as it was improbable that someone hostile would make an extra effort not to break a window. I finally could see him clearly as he pulled down his hood, revealing an old wrinkled face with a white beard. His hairs were also white and long. Dense magical energy was emitting out of him. I immediately used [Analyze] on him, but it was blocked.
"Do not worry, young one. I just came here with a mutually beneficial proposal." He said with a voice of an old and kind grandpa.
I still kept my staff aimed at him, "Who are you?".
He smiled kindly on me, but it felt disturbing as if a pedophile smiled on a child, "Such a rude behaviour from me to forget to introduce myself. I am Aliford, an Archmage of Silver Order.".
'Of course, he is mage when he looks like a stereotypical mage... He even has a name like a stereotypical mage.'
He moved his hand, and a scroll appeared in it accompanied by a flash of light, "Today I received excellent news from my contact in a local magical guild that a city fell under a dark cult."
I started getting confused, 'Why is he calling it good news? This feels sketchy as hell'.
"You see, even I, a great Archmage, dislikes a church. They are fools slowing down progress. What could I do if I could work without the annoying supervision of a church... " then he smiled, even more, giving me the creeps on my back, "I would like to rent one of the towers in this castle. Also, a privilege for members of a Silver Order to conduct any experiments is also required. In exchange, I can teach you a few tricks on top of the monetary rewards. "
I found something weird about it, "How did you even get here so fast? Is this some kind of ploy where you waited hidden in this city the whole time?"
"I am an Archmage. I can teleport".
"Ohh, so you are a space attribute mage. In that case, teach me a teleportation spell, and we have a deal."
Teleportation was the ultimate failsafe measure that could save my life at any time. Also, it was very convenient for everyday life. But levelling out [Chorosmancy] was tedious, and I had no idea about on what level I would even unlock it. So that deal was worth it, just for that one thing. And there was a very small chance of it being some kind of ploy as he definitely had enough power for him to not need such ploys.
He looked at me with a puzzled expression before he started to laugh, "Hahaha, these self-schooled mages never stop to surprise me. You know that you can bypass attribute requirements through the usage of general Arcane Magic at the great cost of mana and complexity of a spell and its effect, right? But we have a deal now. I will teach you the basics of arcane magic and teleportation spell in exchange for the stuff I mentioned before.", then he brought a pen out of thin air and started to write something on a parchment he held.
After a while, he brought that sheet to me and said, "Hehee, here is the contract. Read it and sign it".
