CH 31-0: Assault Commanders

The Assault Commanders of the Makaqoves charged forth and joined the ranks of their simian soldiers. The Makaqoves cheered as these commanders arrived and with globs of water formed within their palms, the Makaqove Assault Commanders threw the water blasts at us.

Following suit with a swift flick of their limbs, the other Makaqoves launched their chains arms towards us, their movements synchronized as well making it appear as if a thousands arms were striking from a single entity.

Zest and I weaved through the onslaught, our reflexes pushed to the limit as the Makaqoves fists scraped us. Wincing, and feeling the heat of their blows, I had no choice but to continuously fire [Doom Zaps] back at the Makaqoves to dissuade their armed onslaught from overwhelming me.

It appeared that Zest had the same concerns as an arm lashed them, and the eldritch deer unleashed a blinding arc of electricity from their antlers, illuminating the battlefield in a dazzling display. The crackling bolts collided with the chains, creating explosions of heat and light that temporarily disoriented our adversaries. It was our chance to strike back.

"Here goes," I muttered under my breath as [Lightning] crackled along my crystal-tipped spear, ready to meet the Makaqoves head-on to end their scorching assault once for all.

One of the Assault Commanders of the Makaqoves noticed me, and it sneered as I approached. Yet without faltering, I leaped forward with a burst of agility.

My spear became an extension of my will, as I channeled my lightning-infused strikes towards our foes. In that moment, swirling arcs of electricity clashed against their fluid chains, creating a tempestuous clash of power.

The (Assault Commander) Makaqoves, undeterred by my assault, retaliated with their inferno fists blazing with intense heat as they launched a barrage of scorching punches, each strike leaving a trail of fiery heat hazes.

I took cover, enduring the strikes as my ears and spear was used to shield me, but as I plummeted to the ground, an Assault Commander appeared on my side prepared to knee me on my face.

Swift upon being alerted to the strike, I ducked under the Assault Commander's leg, and jabbed my electrified spear at it.

It flipped backwards, evading the strike, before somersaulting back several more times. The Makaqove proceeded to beckon for me to continue with a gesture of its hand, a grin on its face.

"Oh, so, you’re going to mock me, huh?" I stated as I adjusted my stance, before noticing Zest skidding sideways, a sizzling vapor emanating from their pelt.

"They're… they're a lot better than I expected." Zest proceeded to state.

I glanced at the other two Assault Commander Makaqoves approaching and I recognized that we were going to need to push ourselves harder than ever to take these creatures down.

"We got this, Zest." I glanced at the Doom Deer before scanning our opponents.

The first Assault Commander of the Makaqoves lunged forward with blurring speed, its watery chains lashing out like serpents.

I deftly evaded its strikes, my ears twirling and lashing out as the two of us fought in an evenly matched manner.

Lighting-infused ears collided with heated-fists and feeling pressured, I retaliated with a swift and powerful thrust of my crystal-tipped spear. The weapon sliced through the air, leaving trails of crackling energy in its wake as I pierced the Assault Commander in the arm.

"AAHHH!" It howled, before smacking my ears back with tremendous force.

Zest, busy with its own opponents, unleashed a torrent of electrical energy from their antlers, the bolts arcing through the air towards the second Assault Commander Makaqove. The Makaqove retaliated with a scalding surge of water from its tail, the molten liquid colliding with Zest's electrical onslaught.

The clash of elements created a dazzling display of light and steam, but neither Zest nor the second Makaqove gave an inch.

The third Makaqove, kicked aside the Plelepun as the burrow elephant emerged from the ground. It recognized the threat we posed, and swiftly it circled behind us. In its maneuver, it unleashed a barrage of scalding projectiles. Pellets which burst and sizzled, splashing painfully on my fur.

"Tsk." I called upon my lightning abilities, conjuring a shield of crackling energy to deflect the onslaught. The projectiles sizzled as they met the shield, dissipating harmlessly into steam.

Zest countered the third Makaqove's assault with a focused burst of electricity, striking the creature with pinpoint accuracy. The jolt coursed through its body, momentarily immobilizing it.

Sensing an opportunity, I leaped into action, using my enhanced speed and agility to close the distance. With a slashing spin, I brought my spear crashing down upon the Makaqove's watery chains, severing them with a surge of electrified force. The third Makaqove fell after I dealt the "Assault Commander" several strikes.

I huffed as I glanced at the other two Assault Commanders, their teeth gritted in rage after witnessing their companion shredded into particles.

At first it seemed like the two Assault Commanders were going to return on the offense, but with a gesture of their hands, the Assault Commanders pulled back. The remaining Makaqoves under their command noticed this and regrouped, their eyes burning with renewed ferocity.

The Makaqoves took a new formation around Zest and I, before fighting with unparalleled synergy, their attacks flowing seamlessly from one to another.

Chains lashed, fists ignited, and scalding tails whipped through the air, creating a maelstrom of chaos and danger.

With a swift leap, a Assault Commander Makaqove lunged towards Zest, its flaming fists ready to strike. But before it could land its blow, I intercepted its path, using my agile Merecritt form to my advantage.

My stretchable ears extended to their limits, wrapping around the Makaqove's limbs, restraining its movements. The scalding heat of its watery chains washed over my ears, but I gritted my teeth, refusing to let the pain deter me.

With a burst of energy, I propelled myself upwards, carrying the Makaqove with me. I twisted in mid-air, using my momentum to slam the Makaqove into the ground with a resounding thud. The forest floor trembled beneath the impact, and the Makaqove recoiled, momentarily stunned.

I crouched low, my ears perked, and my eyes fixated on the other Makaqoves as they leaped and bounded through the foliage. Their agile forms darted from tree to tree, closing in on us with calculated precision.

They were cunning adversaries, using their nimble movements to their advantage. With a sudden burst of speed, a couple Makaqoves launched themselves towards Zest, their limbs outstretched to reveal their watery chains.

Zest reacted swiftly, blasting forth a surge of electricity that crackled along their antlers. But just as Zest's lightning-infused attack was about to connect, the Makaqoves twisted mid-air, evading the strike and landing gracefully on a nearby branch.

I gritted my teeth, realizing the Makaqoves' tactics. They now persistently relied on their incredible agility and unpredictable movements, always staying one step ahead of our attacks. It was clear that facing them head-on would be a challenge.

Pain seared through my body as a scalding strike from a Makaqove's tail grazed my arm. The intense heat scorched my flesh, leaving a searing mark in its wake. I snarled, refusing to let the agony consume me. I had to keep fighting!

Zest, too, bore the brunt of the Makaqoves's onslaught. But in defiance, their body crackled with electricity, warding off the watery chains that lashed out relentlessly. But the Makaqoves's agility and coordination were proving to become too much of a challenge, as they managed to land a swift blow to Zest's side, causing them to stagger.

The Barbapt arrived, their wild hollering seizing the air. My anxiety had arisen as I acknowledged they would add another layer of chaos and uncertainty to the battlefield. Their razor-sharp daggers sliced through the air, coming dangerously close to piercing our defenses.

The Plelepun, despite its burrowing skills, could not escape unscathed. Its body grazed by the Barbapts' dagger-like claws leaving shallow wounds.

I fought with all my might, but the Makaqoves and Barbapts were relentless and far too numerous in their assault. Their attacks became more coordinated, their strikes finding their mark with unnerving accuracy. Despite our best efforts, we couldn't evade every blow.

At one point, a Makaqove's watery chain struck Zest's side, leaving a scorching burn in its wake. Zest winced in pain, their antlers flickering with fading electricity.

The Barbapts, with their razor-sharp daggers outstretched, lunged at the Plelepun, their swift movements making it nearly impossible to defend against. The Plelepun cried out as their burly frame was punctured, while cosmic smoke mingled with the scent of earthly particles.

Desperation washed over me as I witnessed my comrades falter under the onslaught. The weight of responsibility settled heavily on my shoulders. I could not let them down. I couldn't let this battle be our end!

Consumed with desperation almost overwhelming me, I summoned all the firepower I could muster to breakthrough and assist my comrades. I refused to yield and I moved with amplified speed and the utmost limitations of my will to overcome the foes around me by piercing and swiping my retractable ears with all my might, but the enemy's blows kept finding their way through.

A Barbapt's dagger sliced across my shoulder, leaving a deep gash that throbbed with searing pain. The Makaqoves' scalding strike grazed my leg, leaving a trail of blistering agony in its wake. Despite our best efforts, their attacks resumed to find their mark, testing our resilience and resolve.

Gritting my teeth against the pain, I pushed forward, unleashing a storm of lightning-infused attacks. I pressed forward through the horde of bodies, my spear slashing and thrusting, aiming to disrupt the enemy's advances. But for every victory, there was another wound inflicted upon me and my allies.

A scalding chain from a Makaqove's elongated limb lashed across my arm, searing my skin with its blistering heat. Pain shot through me, but I refused to let it deter me. I parried the next strike with my crystal-tipped spear, deflecting the scorching blow away from my body.

Zest was doing everything in their power from becoming overwhelmed from the onslaught. Its huge form standing out as a beacon of the hundreds of creatures around us—stomping anything in its vicinity with electrified hooves. I caught sight of a Barbapt lunging forward with its razor-sharp teeth gnashing, sinking into Zest's side.

A cry of pain escaped Zest's mouth, but they continued to fight back, unleashing their electric energy to shock the creatures around them, forcing it to release its grip. Particles dripped from Zest's wound, staining their fur, but they stood tall, refusing to yield.

The Plelepun was not lucky enough to come out unscathed either with its valiant emergence from the ground. A flurry of vine-like arms from the Barbapts whipped through the air, finding their mark upon its sturdy frame.

The Plelepun let out a pained trumpet, staggering under the assault. But it refused to falter as well, using its burrowing abilities to disappear into the ground, seeking temporary sanctuary from the relentless barrage.

The battle raged on, we were pushed to our limits, the weight of fatigue and injuries weighing heavily upon us. The Makaqoves and Barbapts seemed tireless, their numbers and attacks growing more ferocious with every passing moment.
