Chapter 2

"This is so cool! Oh my god, I’m so excited!"

"It's just a rock, you know? It's not that impressive."

Kakeru admonished me as he stared at the Devil's Stone.

"Awww, don't be like that, Kakeru! You're so mean!"

"...I think I'm going to throw up."

Luna had a sick expression as she covered her mouth with her hand. She crouched down on the Devil's Stone. Her face looked paler than usual.

"What's wrong, Luna? Are you feeling unwell?"

"No, no, nothing Yuu. I'm okay, really. I'm just a little tired."

"It's okay, you'll be fine." Kakeru started massaging Luna's back. "Come on, just stay still for a while. It'll pass."

"Kakeru, you're so sweet. I feel a bit better now. Thank you~."

Luna took a deep breath and regained her composure. She then looked around, observing her surroundings.

"So, this is where it is... I wonder if the chort is really here?"

She whispered to herself.

"You are so weak Luna, you should exercise more. Your body isn't in top shape."

I advised Luna. Seriously, she was a standard example of a weak schoolgirl, who never participated in a PE classes. I started to question her membership in our Supernatural Research Club. Well, there was no one else who wanted to join the club, so I will just let it slide. Sigh.

"Yuu, you're right ...I'm sorry. I will do my best. I need to do some exercises to get stronger."

"Haha, that's a great idea. You should do that. I'm sure that you'll become a lot healthier if you do."

"Yeah, I will. Thanks for your advice, Yuu."

Luna smiled brightly as she replied to me.

"Don't listen to her, Luna. Sis is just screwing around with us here, making us do all those things, like climbing some random rocks. She's just messing with us."

"Huh? What do you mean, Kakeru? She's just being curious and energetic. And she is really nice to us."

"Are you kidding me? She's just teasing us. She is always like this."

"I don't think that's true. I don't think that she's trying to tease us. It's not like that at all."

"That's right, Luna. You know me well. It's just Kakeru that is grumpy all the time. Anyway, let's go ahead and search for the chort."

I didn't want to waste any more time. I ignored both of them and looked around, searching for some clues. The surface was covered with moss, and the stone itself wasn't that big.

"Hey, sis. Do you see anything?"

Kakeru asked me as he also looked around.

"No, I don't see anything. That's weird."

I shook my head in disappointment. Then I finally noticed something.

Stolen story; please report.

"Ahh! I found something!"

"Is it a clue?"

Kakeru asked me again as he looked at me with expectation.

"I don't know yet. This looks like some kind of mark? Hmm? No! It's writing!" I pointed with excitement to the both of them. "There! There is something written here. Can you read it, Kakeru?"

Kakeru looked at me with exasperation.

"What are you talking about, sis? I don't see anything. It's just a scratch mark. If you are going to make up stories, then at least try to make it believable."

"Shut up, Kakeru! This is not a story! I'm telling you, this is definitely a message left by the chort! See? It says... Ugh! I don't know what it says, that's why I have you here!"

I was excited as I showed them the scratched message.

"Writing? On the rock? What's that even supposed to mean?"

Kakeru questioned me.

"Yes, there are words carved into the rock. Read them quickly! It might be a chort summoning spell. Or maybe it's a warning or something. Whatever it is, we need to find out!"

"Umm... Oh, I see it too. I wonder what it means. How mysterious...~" Luna said with an innocent expression.

"Hmm... I think it might be something like: I am thou... Thou art I... From the sea of thy soul, I come... Persona!"

I made a guess as I looked at the message.

"Isn't that from that game series? And II think you skipped a line or two. Besides ...I don't get it. Why would anyone write a spell on the rock?"

"Hey, Kakeru. You can't expect to understand everything about the universe, just because your grades are somewhat good. Ugh, seriously, just read it already!"

"Alright, alright. I'll read it. Sigh. I just have to read it, right? Let me see. Isn't it Japanese?"

"Oh, so they were those Japanese moon runes. That's why I couldn't read them. But, wait, how come you can?"

"Well, I've been studying Japanese for a long time. Mother forced me to learn it. You know how much she loves all that stuff about Japan."

"Wow, you are really smart, Kakeru. I guess I should learn some Japanese as well."

Luna was looking at Kakeru with admiration.

"Well, whatever. So, what does it say?"

Kakeru read the words on the rock.

"I think it's something like: 'ユナとミクが来ました!' or in in other words: 'Yuna to Miku ga kimashita!'"

"Ooh. It sounds so cool when you pronounce it in Japanese. What does it mean, though, Kakeru? Is it a chort summoning spell as I though? Is he going to show up now? My heart is not ready for this...~ No, I’m ready. Come forth, Chort! Devil! You demonic spawn, I summon thee! Come! Come, come, come! I can’t wait!"

I felt all tingly from excitement. I couldn't wait for the chort to appear. I looked around with excitement and anticipation. I wondered how the chort would appear. Would he show up in a magic circle or some strange grey mist would show up suddenly? I just couldn't wait.

"Somehow, I feel scared. Like something bad is going to happen..."

Luna was staring at the rock with fear in her eyes.

"Don't be silly, Luna. It's going to be amazing."

"Maybe. But still, I'm scared."

Luna grabbed Kakeru's arm with both her hands in fear.

"..." Kakeru looked at Luna with concern. "Sis, you are being ridiculous. I told you before, we are not going to see the chort or anything like that. It's just a story. Besides, if I'm not wrong, what the words mean is this: 'Yuna and Miku were here!'."

"What? That doesn't make any sense at all. Don't joke around, Kakeru!"

I was slowly getting upset with Kakeru. He could at least be more serious. And try to believe me for once.

"It's true. It's what the words said. I'm not lying. Yuna and Miku. Weren't they those twins? You know, those girls you said were 'clones'? I think they just came here some time ago and scribble it here."

"But...but...but... ...Kakeru, you... big idiot! I told you, I don't know anything about this!"

I yelled angrily at Kakeru.

"... Yuu? Why are you yelling? Calm down, I'm sure Kakeru didn't want to hurt your feelings."

Somehow, I felt furious and started to punch Kakeru.

"What are you doing, sis?! Stop that! I didn't mean anything by it!"

Kakeru tried to stop me, but I punched him again and again. I was so angry that I didn't even care about the pain I was causing him.

"Kakeru, you stupid jerk! You are such an idiot! You are so annoying!"

"Please stop. It's dangerous to hit him like that here."

"I don't care! Making me so excited for nothing! You idiot Kakeru!

I continued to punch Kakeru as he covered his face with his hands.

"Aaah! Sis, you're hurting me! I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Even though it's not my fault in the first place!"

"Stop it, Yuu. It's okay. Just calm down. We shouldn't be fighting here."

Luna stopped me as she pulled me away from Kakeru.

"What are you doing, Luna? Let go of me!"

Luna looked at me with worry in her eyes.

"Luna! Don't defend him! He's just trying to make fun of me! I'm sure of it! Just like everyone else! *Sniff*"

I quickly got down from the stupid rock and run away from the two, feeling some tears starting to spill from my eyes. I didn't want them to see me crying.

I ran off towards the forest, trying to hide myself from the two. I didn't want them to see me cry. I didn't want them to see me like that. I was so ashamed of myself. I felt so pathetic.
