Chapter 9: Confusing Battlefield

"Abyss Heart, force them?"

Those sinuous black and red tentacles slithered back into the Abyss Codex after Caelan completed the transfer, as if reluctant to part with the outside world.

And a faint, mysterious special symbol appeared on the back of Caelan's hand.

It was a symbol of a black sun, its edges blurring into the surrounding black and red swirl, and in the center an inscription so indistinct that it defied decipherment.

"I finally understand why the previous demons always had their own 'small actions' when carrying out my orders.

"Back then, even though I had the status of a Lord, I was not considered a member of the Dark Abyss in their eyes, and they would naturally refuse orders from the outside world."

Caelan gazed intently at the Black Sun symbol on the back of his hand, a smile playing at the corners of his lips."But now everything is different..."

After his transformation into the Abyss Sovereign, Caelan felt an overwhelming surge of power coursing through his veins. His very being seemed to resonate with the dark, primal forces of the Abyss.

"I have truly become the absolute ruler of the Dark Abyss!"

A feeling of ecstasy and conquest filled his heart. "This is truly the most precious and coveted treasure for me!"

It was only after this intoxicating thought that Caelan remembered to look at the Abyss Codex in his hand.

It appeared to be a relic from a bygone age. Its cover was frayed at the edges, the once vibrant colors faded and dulled, as if it had seen countless battles and the ravages of time.

The spine of the book was cracked, just as the message had suggested, and the codex was mutilated, with only one page left. Along the sides of this page were strange, dark stains that might have been the remnants of ancient spells or the blood of forgotten heroes.

When Caelan opened the page, a musty odor wafted up, and he leaned in closer, his eyes narrowing to make out the words inscribed.

It is a bizarre verse in Abyss tongue.

Abyss Codex

Chapter 1

Praise be to you, Eternal Black Sun.

Praise be to you, Great Abyss Sovereign, you are the robber of the world, you are the end of all things

......

"Eternal Black Sun..."

"Does that mean the view from the Dark Abyss in the past?"

Caelan's voice quivered with a mixture of confusion and curiosity as he raised his head, his gaze piercing the expanse above.

At this moment, this once mighty Dark Abyss, long since withered and decayed, bore no trace of a Black Sun, amidst the howling winds and oppressive darkness that shrouded the desolate landscape of the withered Dark Abyss.

The gloomy sky, streaked with dark clouds, offered no glimmer of hope or light. The only sight was the unchanging black and red vortex, swirling ominously like a never-ending maelstrom of chaos.

As Caelan searched for the Black Sun, he finally noticed the anomaly.

"What's going on? Who's attacking my demon soldiers?"

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

His voice roared with anger and confusion, echoing through the eerie silence of the deserted abyss.

"Is it those fierce monsters with a strong sense of territory? No..."

Caelan's eyes narrowed considerably, a glimmer of suspicion flickering in them. The shadows around him seemed to deepen.

"It's a hostile force!"

The air grew colder, carrying an ominous chill. In an instant, he pieced together the result of the disappearance of each demon soldier's signal. Through the Lord's Eye, he was able to track and sense the exact location and status of the soldiers under his command with astonishing accuracy.

"The enemy is deliberately eliminating my advance teams."

"And it's not just one team of demon soldiers; all the demon soldiers I sent out to scout are under attack!"

"The enemies are actually trying to eliminate all my soldiers by breaking through one by one?"

Caelan's brow furrowed deeply, a note of disbelief coloring his words.

"This is really..."

He sighed in resignation, and then his lips suddenly curled upwards in a mocking laugh.

"Hah...fantastic!"

"I've been bored for far, far too long!"

There was a manic gleam in his eyes as if he welcomed the chaos that was about to unfold.

"They had a reaction!"

Evelyn had just turned her gaze back to the grey-winged creatures when she noticed that the demon soldiers being chased by the centaur warriors had finally made a strange movement.

From her careful observation, the unknown lord seemed to be... a rookie?

At that moment, Evelyn was standing on the branches of a giant tree in the middle of the forest.

At such a height, she could take full advantage of the Druid's ability to monitor the movements of a large area of the forest.

From her perspective, the demon soldiers were making fatal mistakes under the stupid command of their lord.

This "stupid lord", knowing that the demon soldiers' agility was not as good as that of the centaur warriors, still didn't choose to retreat as a group, but instead split into nearly seventeen teams!

With such a large difference in fighting strength between the two sides, Evelyn thought that Caelan's best strategy would be to concentrate their superior force and gather all their soldiers into a "great regiment" to resist the Centaur warriors' invasion while retreating to the portal as quickly as possible.

This is because the Centaur Warriors are better at using their mobility to sneak up, roam around, and shoot the soldiers who are alone. If they were to rush into the large numbers of the Demon Corps, the Centaur Warriors, who have no armor protection, would suffer equally heavy casualties.

In Evelyn's estimation, even if these demon soldiers were to form a "great army", they would still have to suffer nearly half the casualties before they managed to escape from this dangerous forest. Absurdly, the 'Stupid Lord' failed to do so, and this was not the most disastrous mistake he made.

The seventeen teams of demons were moving in a state of extreme and utter chaos! The disorder was so profound that Evelyn couldn't even bring herself to look at them.

There were teams rushing toward the portal.

And there were teams plunging into the depths of the forest.

And there were other teams heading for unknown destinations, changing course three times a minute, sometimes even blocking the escape routes of other teams.

All around them, the dreaded centaur warriors lurked in every nook and cranny! With curved swords in their hands and bows and arrows slung from their backs, they lurked in wait, thirsty for the blood of their enemies.

These teams of demons, fighting individually and in disarray, were no match for these cunning and fierce centaur warriors.

All in all, the three hundred or so demon soldiers seemed doomed!

"Hahahaha, I really didn't expect a rookie who doesn't even have the most rudimentary knowledge of military tactics to be the one who happened to be the first to come to the Eternal Continent to gather resources!"

"If I had known that, I wouldn't have worried so much. Anyway, such a witless one would have been eliminated by the other masters sooner or later."

The grey-winged creature in Evelyn's incarnation stood precariously on a branch and jumped up in wild excitement.

"Now I can finally calm my heart and build my territory. Such a long period of double line operation is almost overwhelming even for a brilliant mind like mine~"

Evelyn ended her possession with a fleeting sense of peace and tranquillity and returned to her territory to await Archeron's shortcut.

But the perceptive Archeron sensed that something was wrong.

But he soon brushed it aside; after all, the Centaur warriors seemed to have the absolute advantage at the moment!

"Whoosh!"

In the shadowy forest, where rays of sunlight struggled to penetrate the dense canopy, Archeron, a figure of immense strength, gently took up his bow and arrow. His muscles tensed, and with a sharp exhalation, he released the arrow with a force that tore through the still air. It flew towards a Lesser Demon lurking at the back of the group.

Caught off guard, the Lesser Demon had no time to react. The arrow found its mark, piercing flesh and bone with a sickening thud. The demon collapsed, its life instantly extinguished, sprawling lifelessly on the forest floor.

The rest of the lesser demons, eyes wide with terror, cunningly changed direction and scampered off into the depths of the forest. The undergrowth rustled and snapped beneath their frantic feet. Though Archeron could have easily given chase to the panicked fleeing lesser demons, he held back. The terrain through which they were running was a tangled web of thicket and fallen tree trunks, not at all conducive to pursuit.

At that moment, the ground shook as the 6 centaur warriors galloped towards Archeron. Their hooves thundered, sending tremors through the forest floor.
