Bloom 843 - World Flower preservation Facility
"So in all actuality it's a tree not a flower even though it blooms like one. Okay class pop quiz, how long is a bloom?” Nannette asked her class. “Three hundred days!” The class answered in unison. “Very good and it is that consistency that allows us to use the World Flower as an annual clock. Alright everyone, if you come this way you can get an up close look at the World Flower." Nanette directed the crowd of students to the observation deck of the facility. Tai ignored his sister's directions. He didn't care about her teaching debut nor did he know why he was dragged along. It was a miracle in and of itself that their mother even allowed Nannette to take a group of students on her airship. He stood staring at the huge tree until his attention was grabbed by a strange little girl with dark black hair in a white frilled dress pulling vigorously on a locked door. "Hey" Tai called out, but the girl just ignored him and kept pulling. Tai walked up to her and put his hand on her shoulder. "Hey" he said again. Startled, the child let out a timid yelp and shied back. "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you." He assured. The girl stared at him for a second. "Ar- are you talking to me?" She asked shyly. Confused Tai scanned his surroundings. "Um, yeah there's no one else around. Um I'm Tai." He offered his hand in greeting. Slowly she reached out and took it. " I'm Ninti." When the child spoke her name Tai could feel a Surge of energy pulse throughout the room. It was then he noticed the child didn't have a pull like other people. He was so used to feeling it he disregarded the sensation so he didn't notice that she didn't have one. "It's nice to meet you Ni..Nin..." the word was hard to get out. It felt like there was a lump in his throat like when air gets stuck when you drink too fast. It was a feeling like something telling him the name shouldn't be spoken out loud. So he gave up "Nice to meet you." She smiled shyly. "So what are you doing?" Tai asked, gesturing at the door. She looked at Tai with another confused expression like she was trying to figure out what he was talking about. When she noticed that he was pointing at the door it jogged her memory. "Oh" she started in an urgent tone. " I have to touch the tree but this wall won't open. I can usually get through but I can't this time. Tai chuckled. "It's a door silly and it's locked. They don't want people to go near it. Why do you need to touch it?" Ninti, frantically pushing against the door with all of her might answered. "Mother planted it for father. And she told me that every 150 days after my sister touches it I'm supposed to touch it. But I can't get through this wall." Tai chuckled again. "Okay... like I said it's locked." She stops and stares at him for a while. "Hold your breath." She demanded. "What?" "Hold your breath for five seconds." Humoring her, Tai took a deep breath and held it. "I knew it." She exclaimed. She curtsied and walked through the wall. Bewildered, Tai watched through the window as the little girl floated up to the top of the world flower tapped the stem and vanished.
