Bloom 828 Territory of Lucach
The sound of hooves clapping and wheels scraping across stone in the early morning hours alerted Nanette to jump out of bed. Her mother having yelled at her before abruptly leaving last night during dinner, then being away the entire night left her curiosity overpowering her tiredness. She rushed down the palace stairs and out the front door. "Mother!" She called out as the carriage came to a halt. The driver opened the door to the cabin and out stepped a very intense looking woman with jet black hair pinned up in a bun by a red and black feather. The woman was holding a bundle stained with blood in her arms. When Nannette noticed the bundle a growing sense of concern halted her approach. "What happened?" She asked her mother. Xtabay, The Serpent Queen, World King of Monsters, stepped down from the carriage. Her stern expression lightened when her eyes met her daughter's. "This child was orphaned last night. The blood that stains his wrap belonged to his parents who were torn apart by a pair of Zennrettes. I arrived just before they turned their wretched fangs on the boy." Nanette's genuine expression of sorrow for the child melted Xtabay's cold heart. Her daughter was the only one who could soften that which was hardened through years of war and loss. But she suspected that the boy she held in her arms will have a similar effect on her. She handed the baby to Nanette who carefully took him and held him close to her like he was her own child. "He will from this point on be your brother Nanette, so make sure you always look out for him." Nanette kissed the boy on his head. "What's his name?" She asked, still smiling at the child. Xtabay thought for a second. "Taivero. Named after your grandfather, the man who sacrificed himself for his people." "That's perfect." Nanette replied before she began to head back inside the palace with Taivero. Xtabay beckoned to one of her assistants. "Send word to King Lukohé, this baby needs to be examined. Also get in touch with King Lucian and after I've consulted with them call for a summit, I have a feeling the other Kings need to be aware of what went on."
