Jet was already regretting his decision. Davis told him if his heart rate jumped up past a point, the cops would show up to his door. So he was warned to send a text to a number if he was working out or doing other activities. The other activities came with a wink from Davis. Now he was lying down listening to the hums of the cat scan machine. As for Alex, she kept running off with Davis, leaving him alone with the doctors. Jet felt the table he lay on leave the machine.
"Alright, Jet, you're all done." Marcy's voice crackled over the intercom.
He leaped off the uncomfortable table and headed to the door. The blue cracks in his skin had slowly started to disappear, and his magic had begun to flow more easily through his right hand. 'Well, guess I'll go do some magic tricks for the kids again.' Jet had been getting bored waiting for Davis to finish everything, so he could meet back up with his family. Opening the door to leave, he froze in place.
"Is it really you, Ford?" Asked his Aunt Jean with tear-filled eyes.
"Nope, I'm Jet." He pointed his thumb towards himself, holding back his tears.
She jumped forward, grabbing Jet in a death grip hug. He hugged her right back and immediately noticed she was skinnier now. Jet could feel the outline of her bones as he held her. Jean just cried into his shoulder, not letting Jet go.
"I'm sorry, I was gone so long." Jet comforted his aunt.
"I thought you were dead. We even had your funeral." Jean sobbed into Jet's shoulder.
"Really, Did you tape it?" Jet asked curiously. Then regretted it immediately and concluded. He had hung out with a certain princess too long.
Jean broke away from him and stared. "Yes, It was taped, and no, you can't watch." She said while smiling.
"So." Jet was at a loss for words. What did you talk about after being gone for a year or almost a year?
"Not sure what to talk about either?" Jean asked him, still smiling.
"I got a lot to talk about, just not sure where to start." Jet was sure the beginning would be the best place. However, he would make sure to leave a few details out. "How's Amanda?"
"I'm not sure. She quit coming around after the funeral." She frowned at the question.
Well, after that awkward conversation, they went home. On the way, Jet started talking about what happened, leaving a few things out of the story. When they finally got home, someone was sitting on their front porch. When his aunt Jean got out of the pickup, the young lady got up and went to hug her. When Jet got a look at her face, his heart skipped a beat or two, his bracelet buzzed.
"Auntie Jean, it's been a while. What was with that cryptic text?" Amanda let Jean go, then looked at the strange-looking boy that was staring at her. "You look familiar." Something clicked in her mind, and tears started to roll down her cheeks.
Jet walked around the pickup and gave Amanda a wave. "Long time no see." Then got tackled to the ground in a death grip. He was almost sure he heard a few of his bones pop from the hug. She then looked right into his eyes, tears falling on Jet's face. She leaned down, and French kissed him. Jet almost threw her off. She knew how much he hated it when she did this. But, since he had been gone so long, he decided to let her be this time.
Amanda pulled away and stared at Jet. "Are you really Jet? He would have never let me French kiss him that long."
"I figure I owed you." Jet gave a goofy grin. Amanda leaned down again, but Jet blocked her. "Sorry, times up." Then he kissed her and rolled her off him, and helped her up.
"That's not fair. You should give me another chance." She looked at him with pouting puppy eyes.
Jet poked her on the nose then wrapped an arm around her. "Let's go in, and I'll tell you about my adventure."
Jet had talked late into the night. His aunt looked sleepy, and Amanda was already asleep, her head on his lap. "I think it would be best if we pick this up in the morning."
"Ford, it is the morning. Three in the morning, and you don't look tired at all." Jean said between yawns.
"I can use magic to keep me going. So I got an unfair advantage." Jet combed his hand through Amanda's hair. She looked so beautiful in her blue dress. Then he realized the dress looked a little worn.
"I'll go get some blankets for Amanda." Jean got up to leave.
Jet stopped his aunt. "Is there a bed in my room?"

"I haven't touched your room. I just couldn't." She stopped mid-sentence.
"Then I'll let Amanda sleep in there. I can just stay up and think. Maybe go for a walk." He hadn't been around for a while. So he thought maybe something had changed. Not that he wanted to sleep, not with the nightmares that plagued him. He hadn't slept for over two weeks now.
"Please don't leave." His aunt had tears rolling down her face.
"Ok, I won't go for a walk. I'll take my laptop out of my room and read up on events." Jet lied. He had already read up on events while at the hospital. But he decided he wouldn't go on the walk.
"Ok, well, good night." Jean walked off to her room.
"Good morning," Jet smiled as she walked off. After she was gone, he got up, picking up Amanda at the same time in a princess carry. 'Was she always this light?' He wondered.
'Yo Jet, when you going to bring me up?' Alex asked.
'You know I will tomorrow.' Jet answered while walking to his room.
'I know, but I'm bored. So I'm going to go on the walk you can't.' Alex appeared and walked away.
Jet ignored Alex and walked over to his old bed. Looking around the room, everything had been left in the same spot. He stood Amanda up and helped her out of her dress. There were bruises on her body, but he looked away. Amanda's mother is a mean drunk, and he knew. However, she had asked him long ago to look away. Then almost took off her underwear, then remembered he was back on Earth, and stopped. After getting her into bed, he kissed her forehead and started to walk away.
Amanda grabbed his hand. "Don't go." She begged him.
"Ok." Jet grabbed a chair and sat by the bed holding Amanda's hand.
Jet woke up to a noise coming from the kitchen. He couldn't believe he had fallen asleep, then looked down to find himself in bed with Amanda. She had her head on his shoulder, drooling. All he could do was smile, then freak out. When had he gotten into bed with her, he couldn't remember. Then he freaked out even more, when he saw his clothes on the floor along with Amanda's bra. Quickly looking under the cover, they both still had their underwear on, and he sighed with relief. But noticed Amanda had lost enough weight. Her bones were showing. 'I must have been tired if I hadn't noticed last night.'
'If you're going to have your mind in the gutter, at least have the decency to block your thoughts from me.' Alex taunted Jet.
"You don't even know what a gutter is." Jet said aloud without thinking and woke Amanda up.
Amanda just groaned. "Five more minutes." Then went right back to sleep.
Jet eased his way out of bed and got dressed. Looking down at Amanda, he smiled and kissed her on the cheek before leaving the room. He had to admit he hadn't felt this rested in quite some time. Then when he got to the kitchen, he found his aunt's arms crossed with a raised eyebrow.
"You have a good sleep?" Jean asked with a half-smile.
"Get your mind out of the gutter. Nothing happened." He repeated what Alex told him earlier.
"Oh Right, I'm sure." She winked at him.
Jet chose to ignore his aunt and helped her prepare lunch. "So I got to ask, why did you get a job?"
"How did you know I have a job?" Jean asked.
"Please, the truck has a spare uniform for Atwood's." Jet wondered why, she should have plenty of money. His parents were loaded Like almost millionaire loaded. "So, is money tight right now?" Jet asked quizzically.
"No, I just needed something to take my mind off things," Jean said quietly.
Jet walked over and hugged his aunt. "I'm back, and I promise I'll come back next time."
"So you're going to disappear again?" She clung to him tightly.
"Well, I don't know how to control my jumps. But at the least, I can warn you before I disappear again." Jet let her go and walked over to the cabinet to chop up the vegetables she set out for the sandwiches.
"Oh, I've moved the knives." Jean started then froze when a giant cleaver appeared in Jet's hand. Then stepped back when it changed shapes to a longer blade. "What," she started.
Jet smiled at his aunt and explained that the Meat Cleaver could change its shapes. Then with a thought, he grabbed World Breaker and Fate.
'Jet, you should tell Detective Davis that you have your weapons.' Alex said.
'Oh right, yeah, I better give him a call.' Jet pulled out a cellphone, courtesy of the government. Most likely, another way to track and eavesdrop on him. So he did what any teenager would do, and sent Davis a text.
Amanda walked in, only wearing one of Jet's old t-shirts and underwear. Considering she had grown again while Jet was gone, the shirt was tight around her chest. "Good morning."
Jean looked at Amanda, then back at Jet, then raised an eyebrow. "Had a good night Dear?"
Amanda stretched and yawned. "I had an excellent night." She smiled and blushed.
Jet just started banging his head on an upper cabinet door. "Nothing happened." He groaned out.
She walked over to Jet and hugged his back. "Auntie Jean knows I'm teasing." Amanda let him go. "My clothes need to be washed. Do you need anything washed?" She looked at Jean.
The two of them left the room, and Jet decided he would finish the sandwiches. But when he opened the fridge, there was no lunch meat for them. After some looking around the fridge, he found some chicken. So he found a pan and started grilling.
"Wow, we get chicken sandwiches for breakfast?" Amanda comes back into the kitchen.
Jet turned to find Amanda wearing a long sleeve sweater and sweat pants. "You know, this is the first time I've seen you in pants."
Amanda got herself a cup of coffee and looked at Jet. "It's your fault. Ever since you said I look pretty in a dress, I just started wearing them all the time."
"Wait, just because I said that. Now I feel guilty for all the winters I've known you." Jet cut up the chicken and mixed in some onions.
Amanda walked over to a sliding glass door to the backyard. She stood there a while sipping her coffee. "What a strange-looking cat."
"A cat?" Jet finished up the chicken, then walked over to Amanda. Then looked out the sliding glass door and saw Alex chasing a butterfly. "Would you like to pet her?" When Jet asked this, Alex stopped and looked right at them and waved.
"Did the cat just wave at us?" Amanda looked at Jet.
"It's not a cat. That's Alex, who is seeking attention." Then he thought maybe she was part cat. She is chasing a butterfly.
'Hey, I am not a cat. I was just bored.' He could hear Alex blushing while talking.
Jet gave a quick explanation about Alex, his aunt walking in and listening. They took to Alex well, and Jet decided she was definitely a cat. She was enjoying the attention from the girls far too much.
Jet's cellphone rang, and he picked it up. "Hello."
"Hey Jet, this is detective Davis. We have a situation that we could use your help with."
