Chapter 20

Chapter 20

King Garent held the sword World Breaker. He waved it around and made a few lunges. "And this sword, bow, and butchers cleaver was just left for you?" The bow had Fate carved into the handle, and the cleaver had The Meat Cleaver written on its handle. Garent still wasn't sure why a butcher's cleaver had been left for Jet.

"You read the same letter as I did." Jet said.

"Rick, you said that you had met this man Tom?" Garent asked.

"In the town of Apple. I got Jet's original weapons from him, but I didn't meet Tony, or Aaron. Whatever his name is." Rick said.

"Maybe Tom is like me." Jet pondered.

"If Tom is from your world, how does he know you?" Rick asked.

"That is the million-dollar question." Jet leaned back on his chair and closed his eyes, sighing.

"What's a dollar?" They both asked at once.

"It's the currency from my world. We use paper money." Jet answered.

Both of them raised an eyebrow looking at Jet. "Back on topic." Jet said he could talk about Earth's currency later.

"So, there are at least three other people from your world here. Tom, Graham, and Aaron, who all seem to know you." Rick summarized.

"I would say for sure Graham don't know me." Jet added.

"Didn't Graham say you were world famous?" Garent mentioned.

"Yes, but he looked excited to meet me. Which means we never knew each other." Jet continued.

"Well, we could ponder this all day." The King said while sheathing the sword. He then handed it to Jet. "But I have a feeling we would get nowhere."

Rick and Jet watched as the king walked out of the room. "My brother is right. We will get nowhere thinking about them."

"Yeah, just wish I knew what is going on." Jet said with a sigh.

"Well, kid, you best be off. Lot's to do before tonight." Rick got up from his chair.

"What's going on tonight." Jet had a bewildered look on his face.

"The King is giving you a title, or did you forget." Rick grinned.

"I am certain that I lost the fight." Jet had been sure that Garent wouldn't give him a title. Considering the way he won the match.

"Hah, you should see how excited the people are." Rick said, chuckling.

"I doubt the people are that excited." Why would people be excited if he got a title? It just didn't make sense.

"Are you that daft boy? Why wouldn't the people be happy for you? Jet, you will go out of your way to help people. I have heard stories from the guards of your exploits. You even know all the servants in the castle by name." Rick mused and winked at him.

"Fine." Jet moaned, getting up. "I'll go be the servant's doll." He was certain his already fine clothes wouldn't do for this event.

Jet stood there with his hands outstretched, watching servants walk back and forth. Every time his arms started to fall slightly, He would get told to keep them straight out. Standing in place made him more tired than training with Rick and Todly. His arms felt like jello, and his legs felt like thousands of needles were poking him.

Pain shot through Jet's back as someone hit him. "Stand up straight." Came an old gravely voice.

Jet frowned when he saw grandma's face. "What do you want, old lady."

Everyone in the room went dead silent. All eyes were looking between Jet and grandma. Both of them, however, didn't break eye contact. The servants felt chills in their spines from the glares they gave off. It was as if the room had taken a sudden drop in temperature.

"You should respect your elders, boy." Grandma said to Jet, not breaking eye contact.

Jet's frown deepened, and he said. "Respect lost has to be earned back." He retorted.

Even Dolly couldn't believe that her mother hadn't struck Jet yet. She had never seen or heard of her mother letting anyone speak to her like this. Even the King himself had never talked to Grandma like this.

"I see. I apologize for what I said." Grandma dipped her head slightly then walked out of the room.

Dolly quickly got everyone back to work after grandma left the room. Jet could see in all their eyes. They wanted to know what grandma apologized for. No one asked, leaving that subject alone.

Relo came into the room a few minutes later. She held a cape in her hands, blue on the outside and red on the inside. Jet noticed a hole with red lining around it and the usual insignia done with red threads on the back.

"Told you I could finish it on time." Relo quickly went to her mother.

"Well, now you can help us then. Lar put that cape away, and you and Relo work on his buttons." Dolly gave out orders.

At some point during all of this, Jet had lost feeling in his arms and legs. He feared that the next step he took, he would fall flat on his face. Then a man came in holding a pair of boots. The man walked with a slight limp and used a cane. He had brown hair that just reached his shoulders and a kind face with a small smile.

"Ladies, I got the boots you ordered." The man said in a crackly voice. Then Jet realized the man had a scar on his neck. So he thought that maybe why his voice was so weak.

Relo walked over to him and took the boots. "Thanks, dad."

"Dad?" Jet had never met the man.

"Yes, I have a dad, Jet." Relo said.

"Of course, you have a dad. I am just surprised to meet him finally." Jet said.

"I don't get out much. This castle has too many stairs." Relo's dad muttered.

"I am Jetsford, glad to meet you finally." Jet said, then got smacked.

"Hold still." Dolly chided him.

"I am Flewen. It's a pleasure." Flewen said.

"Dad came all the way here just for the ceremony. For the food, not you, of course." Relo said with a wide grin.

Jet's stomach grumbled at the word food. "I'm with Flewen. I am so going for the food." Pain shot through his side, where Relo pinched him.

"This is your title ceremony. You are not only going for food." Relo said, then started working again.

It only took them a few more minutes to get done. When they let him move around, he kept stumbling. Standing there that long made his whole body feel like needles were stabbing him, but he just kept walking, trying to dispel the needles.

When he stopped at the mirror to look at himself, his jaw dropped. "I look."

"Expensive." Flewen finished.

"Dad." Dolly and Relo said at the same time.

"What he does." Flewen defended.

Jet had to agree with him. The clothes were extravagant. He put his hand on one of the buttons that looked like gold. Then he rubbed a fingernail on it. It didn't leave a mark so the buttons couldn't be gold.

Relo sighed when she saw Jet check the buttons to see if they were gold. "They're gold Jet, just infused with magic, so they don't get worn."

Jet just nodded to Relo and kept looking in the mirror. He had a sleeveless black overcoat on with the gold trimming. He had on a blue long sleeve shirt under the coat and pants the same color. His boots were leather and dyed black with red laces. The boots were quite comfortable, but he still wished they had socks in this world.

"Why is there a hole in his cape." Flewen asked.

Before Jet could answer, Relo beat him to it. "He wears his sword on his back."

"Seems like an odd place." Flewen thought out loud.

"I am an odd person." Jet said, grinning.

"Alright, everyone, we need to head out and get ready ourselves. Lots to do and no time." Dolly clapped her hands together, and everyone started to leave. He noticed that Relo stayed behind.

"You're not going to go get ready?" He asked Relo.

She walked to a table with a bag on it and pulled out a dress. "I brought my clothes with me." Relo had a smile on her face.

"In other words, you are here to make sure I don't run off." Jet sighed. He couldn't believe they left him with a babysitter.

Jet walked out of the room and onto the balcony. He was letting Relo get ready with privacy, not that she would care. He leaned on the rail of the balcony allowing the chilly wind to blow on his face.

"Are you nervous?" Relo asked in a low sweet voice.

He opened his eyes and turned around. Relo had on a green dress and gloves. She looked beautiful. "Not with you rooting me on." Jet said with a smile.

Relo

She watched as Jet walked out onto the balcony. His hair and cape fluttering in the wind. 'How does he do it. He acts so cool all the time.' Relo thought to herself.

Relo's life was miserable before she met Jet. Her family had always worked for the royal family. She was taught to serve and fight for the royal family. They never were mean to her, and she was always treated well. The royal family treated all the servants well, but not everyone that visited did. Well, servants were meant not to be seen. To some nobles, she was a toy to be played with. Not that it ever went far. The royal family did not put up with people hurting or forcing themselves on the servants, for good reasons.

Then one night, Rick had run through the castle doors. She hadn't seen him in years, but Rick looked twenty years older. But, what caught her eye was the boy in his arms. There was so much blood covering both of them. After she came to her senses, she got Roan up to help them. Roan tried to check Rick. However, Rick just kept pointing at the boy. She stayed up two days taking care of Jet. Then he had to wake up while she was passed out from sleep deprivation.

Relo took her dress and gloves from her bag and laid them on the bed. Then took off the clothes she had on. She then washed up before putting on her new clothes. When Relo walked to the balcony, she got a good look at Jet.

Jet just stood there leaning on the balcony. 'How could he stand out here so long. The wind is cold.' She thought to herself.

Then another thought occurred to her. "Are you nervous?" She asked. Then wondered why her voice sounded so weak.

He turned around to look at her, and she could feel her heart skip a beat. "Not with you rooting me on." He said with a smile.

She could now feel her heart racing. Jet looked handsome to her. 'Why did I have to fall in love with someone I can't be with.' Relo flinched slightly when she realized Jet walked over to her.

"What's wrong, Relo." Jet put his hands on her shoulders with a worried expression.

Relo cocked her head, wondering what he meant. "Nothings wrong, why?" She asked.

"You’re crying." Jet said.

She reached up with her hand and touched her face. It came back wet with tears. Looking back up into Jet's eyes, she could see Jet's worry for her. So she would do what she always did, put on a smile.

"It's nothing. You just look so nice I teared up. You have come a long way since we met." That's right. Relo would hide her feelings for him.

Jet leaned forward and embraced Relo. Then whispered in her ear. "I have known about your feelings, I'm not blind."

Relo tried to hold back her tears and failed. She leaned into his shoulder to cry. "It's not fair." She sobbed into his shoulder.

"No, it's not. My heart already belongs to another. Amanda stole it long ago. I cannot stop the feelings you and Ileana have for me, nor can I return the same to you guys. To me, you are all my family." Jet said in a somber voice.

It wasn't what she wanted to hear. She could feel her heartbreaking at his words. Jet stood there holding her while she cried. It took some time, but she managed to pull herself together. When Relo pulled away, she realized Jet's clothes were now dirty from her tears.

Jet realized what she looked at and smiled. He lifted his hand and a small water ball formed. Then washed his clothes and her face of the tears and snot. "All better now. We should head to the great hall. Also, I need to speak to you and Ileana sometime."

She wanted to ask why, but he wrapped her arm in his and started walking. As they walked, she glanced over to Jet. When Relo saw his face, she could tell he was deep in thought.

Relo stopped Jet from walking past the great hall. "Well, this is where we part. I need to go to the kitchen. I'll be rooting you on." Relo smiled and winked at Jet, then walked off.
