It was an hour and three minutes since they’d gotten the call from Voltage. Yui and Eraser were positioned behind the plain concrete building that had once been used as a factory but had long been abandoned.
“We’re ready.” Dabi’s voice droned in her ear.
“Us too!” Himiko chirped.
“So are we, let’s move.” Yui commanded, before she aimed the grappling brace and swung down, her steel enforced boots making the front door crumple as it swung open. She straightened from her crouched position, Eraser at her back as she walked inside. Several thugs froze what they were doing as they looked at them.
“Where is Voltage?” Yui growled, pulling two knives from their sheaths, “If you bring him to me, I’ll be merciful.”
Their answer was pulling out weapons or activating their Quirks. She felt her lips curl up in a grimace, before she pounced on the closest one and plunged the knife into the man’s thigh and twisted as he fell back, howling as his hands went to the wound. A quick kick to the head silenced him before she was flipping out of reach of another enemy.
She didn’t focus on faces or Quirks, just on the spots she needed to do enough damage to make them stay down so they wouldn’t be getting up anytime soon. Knives into thighs, or upper arms, ankles, but not throats or chests or stomachs like she really wanted to. The little voice in her head telling her that they couldn’t hurt Izuku anymore if they were dead. But no, she couldn’t go that far, Izuku wouldn’t want that and Eraser wouldn’t either for that matter.
Her fingers tangled in hair as she pulled a face into her knee, finding a sick jolt of satisfaction at the crunch of their nose breaking. Her eyes narrowed on a scrawny man turned to run before a gray loop slammed him into the wall. She spared a glance behind them; bodies littered the floor as they advanced deeper into the factory, most bleeding and groaning or unconscious.
They moved to a large room with conveyer belts that looked too worn down to move. The sound of one person clapping echoed throughout the room. They looked up to see Voltage grinning down at them, the white button down shirt was sprayed with bright red that had started to turn brown.
“You finally arrived, ControlFreak! I’d be impressed if I hadn’t used Caustic’s old hideout. I did want you to find me, after all. I didn’t expect you to bring a friend.” Purple sparks lit up along his arms.
“Eraser, find Null and get him out. I’ll handle Voltage.” Yui stepped forward, eyes not leaving the man that had Izuku’s blood on him. Her kind, selfless little sunshine of a brother was bleeding somewhere. She pulled the taser staff from its holster and tossed it to the hero, it wouldn’t do much against him anyway.
“Control, you can’t-“
“Null is priority, I’m keeping this one off your back so you can extract him and get him medical attention.” She droned out before she blinked as the comms in their ears came alive. Voltage wanted her, as long as she stayed, hopefully Eraser would be free to get Izuku out of here and to granny.
“Dabi and Midnight here. We took out some thugs but no Null. Police are taking the villains here.”
“Samesies over here with Himi and Mikey!” Himiko’s voice chirped in their ears.
“We found Voltage, converge on our location. Bring RG.” Yui commanded, “Go Eraser.” The hero growled as he ran toward the door as Voltage dropped down.
“Making plans in front of me, you sure are confident for a little mouse.” He grinned as he cracked his knuckles.
She tilted her head as she watched him, adjusting her grip on the knife as she rolled her shoulders. She couldn’t really blame him for being overconfident. He was a large, muscular grown man and she was a teenaged girl.
“I hope you scream as nicely as your little brother,” He grinned before he came at her, swinging a wide right hook as sparks erupted on his skin. She rolled under the swing, her knife slashing against his leg before he jumped away. For a big guy he’s light on his feet.
“Not bad, little mouse. Or are you a kitten with those claws?” Voltage licked his lips, his vermillion eyes lighting up. “I love a challenge. It’s too bad Null was so boring. He barely put up a fight.”
She bared her teeth at him before she launched herself at him, throwing the knife at his chest. He grabbed the handle before it could hit but she already had a microchip held between her fingers. She flicked it, her eyes tracking as it went right for his forehead.
The villain’s eyes narrowed before there was a crackle of electricity and the air around him sparked. She growled as she twisted back from the burning sparks on her skin. Her microchip sparked and smoked, falling harmlessly to the ground.
“Was that your Quirk?” His laughter echoed in the room, “You’re a bad match up for me, kitty. I control electricity, no matter what those little chips do, I’ll just fry ‘em!” He flipped her knife through his fingers, grinning.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Yui pulled another knife from its sheath, “You’re cocky for someone who hasn’t landed a hit on me. Is that an American thing, or are you just that dense? I haven’t used my Quirk once during my time as a vigilante. I don’t need it to cut you up.”
“Hah! You sound like a villain there, kitty. Sure, you don’t want to cross the line? Maybe I’ll keep you, you’d make a nice little trophy!” He ran at her again, sending rapid jabs at her with both fists. She weaved through them, electricity dancing along her skin before a knife was embedded in the villain’s left arm. Her body jolted as the electricity traveled from the knife into her arm and she jumped back.
Her right arm was twitching out of her control, she couldn’t even make her fingers clench into a fist. He laughed as he pulled the knife out. “Electrical burns are a bitch, aren’t they? You’ll have a matching scar with your little brother now!”
She grit her teeth as she spun the knife in her left hand, readjusting so her left side was more out. Don’t react, he’s just trying to piss you off so you do something stupid. Eraser will get Izu out, you just have to give him time.
Voltage rushed her again, and she didn’t have time to think as she dodged, backing up as she tried to avoid his fists and barely being quick enough to stay ahead. She ducked through his legs, plunging a knife in the back of his thigh and leaving it behind as she leapt away from him.
“Trying to slow me down? Kitty, I’ve been groomed by my father to take over Ultraviolet since my Quirk came in. He put me through torture so I wouldn’t cave. Good try though.” He grinned before he pointed at her correcting his initial stumble as he continued after her, “My Quirk allows me to control the electricity in the air and generate it along my arms. I can also sense sources of electricity and control those if they’re close enough. You know what that means Kitty?” The air around her began to spark and she threw the goggles off her head.
She almost had her fingers on the comm in her right ear before it started to shriek and static and pop and then her ear was on fire and all she could hear out of it was a high pitched ringing and her vision had little black spots. She ripped it from her ear and saw the villain advance but she could only get her left arm up to try and block the punch.
Yui grunted as pain radiated up her arm, the force would have knocked her back if he didn’t grab her wrist and yank her forward. His free fist slammed against her cheek, her head snapping back as the taste of iron flooded her mouth.
He lifted her in the air, her feet dangling as she tried to fight the darkness that encroached her vision, to get her limp body to move. Voltage was laughing, his free hand clenching around her jaw as he jerked her head up so she could focus on those glowing red eyes.
“That was fun, Kitty. Even if the hobo takes the kid, I’ll still have you.” That was fine for her, as long as Izu got out, she didn’t care what happened to herself. Color started to bleed out as unconsciousness crept closer when he spoke again.
“I mean, the kid will never be able to use his right hand again, so it’s game over for this little vigilante game, isn’t it?”
It was like time stopped as she focused on those words. His hand? What did he do to Izu’s hand? Why wouldn’t he be able to use it again? He wouldn’t use it to write his notes again? To eat katsudon or mint chip ice cream? To hold Bean when the little devil tried to launch himself at his face? He wouldn’t be able to use it to cook with Yamada or spar against Eraser? She wouldn’t feel that hand in hers as he pulled her along the street?
Time came back with a snap and Yui could see color again, the pain in her body fading to the back of her mind and all she could see was red. Her teeth were suddenly embedded in the flesh of the hand holding her face and blood flooded her mouth as the villain yelped, throwing her away from him. She landed on her feet and narrowed her eyes at him, spitting out blood and the chunk of flesh she’d torn away.
Yui bared her teeth in a bloody snarl before she was leaping at him, moving faster than she had before as she ignored her body protesting the movement because it didn’t matter what her body wanted when all she wanted was to bite and tear and rip apart the monster that had dared to put his hands on the only thing in her life that made her want to be better, to be good.
And right now that part was nowhere to be seen as a serrated knife was in her hands and plunging and twisting in flesh even as she ignored the burn of sparks or the blunt force of his fists as the man looked at her with wide eyes and she saw fear and she couldn’t even take satisfaction from it as her knife went for his throat to finally end this nightmare.
She snarled as fabric wrapped around her arms and chest, and she was pulled away from the bastard. She thrashed and kicked, trying to yank herself free, managing to get her right arm out. It was shaking and giving the occasional twitch but she aimed the grappling brace at Voltage’s eye and hit the trigger, the barb shooting out of the compartment.
“YEEAAAHHH!” The Quirked shout sent the man flying away and her attack off kilter. She growled as she hit the trigger to reel it back in to try again.
“Control! Control!! Yui!” She growled as she turned to Eraser, baring her teeth.
“Let me go! He doesn’t deserve to live!” She snapped, pulling against the loops of fabric but more were wrapping around her. She saw a flash of white and Midnight was tearing her suit right in front of the villain’s face, the pink-purple gas hitting his face and he was down.
“You can’t kill him, Yui.” Damn that calm tone!
“I was about to but you stopped me!” She growled out, from her neck down she was wrapped in the damned scarf.
“He isn’t worth it. His life isn’t worth you being tried for murder.”
“Yeah, kiddo. Green bean wouldn’t want you to throw your life away by killing this guy.” Mic walked over, his hands raised with his palms out.
She blinked, before she grit her teeth, how could she forget about Izu? “Where is he? Did you find him?!”
“Yes, Recovery Girl, Dabi and Himiko are with him. Null asked us to go back after you. The police are on the way. You need to get out of here.” Eraser said, his tone soft as the capture weapon started to fall away.
“Mic and I will stay here to report. Eraser will drive you guys. We won’t let him escape, sweetie.” Midnight promised, already securing the man in Quirk suppressant cuffs and heavy-duty hand cuffs.
Her head nodded as she stumbled to the exit, “Mic, make sure you get anything of hers. We don’t need any more evidence for the cops.” Eraser said before he walked by her side. “How badly are you hurt?”
“I’ll be fine, just…let’s just get him somewhere safe.” She mumbled, “Where are we taking him?”
“Well, Recovery Girl needs tools and a clean environment. We’re taking him to U.A.”
