27. Vanish

Izuku was on patrol by himself and Yui-nee was at home working on a case for Uncle Tsuki, a hacker had made themselves known in Musutafu. His name was Circuit and he’d message the victim first, asking for a large sum of money and if he was ignored, he’d take everything. He’d taken millions of yen already from several people. Tsukauchi was hoping Yui-nee would be able to track him.

Eraser had told them that Mic was dragging him to a restaurant and making him dress up. He’d keep his comm on him if he ran into trouble and for him to call in every so often. Izuku wasn’t that worried, crime had been pretty tame lately, and it wouldn’t be the first time he or Yui-nee had gone out on their own. Most of the crime they dealt with were muggers luckily, and help was just a comm call away.

Patrol had been pretty uneventful, two muggers and that was it. Yui-nee had been talking to him as the sounds of her keyboard click-clacking carried on in the background.

“There you are, you slimy bastard. Null, I found Circuit, the little shit is an eleven-year-old from a private school. I’m going to let Tsuki know, so I’ll be away for a little bit, kay?”

“No problem, Nee-chan! It’s been pretty boring tonight!” He smiled, a boring night was better than an eventful one, at least no one got hurt on a boring night.

“Good, just don’t race into trouble.” The line went dead. He rolled his eyes, he wasn’t that bad!

“Finally, thought the bitch would never disconnect.” A deep voice growled behind him, then something slammed into his head, fireworks exploding behind his eyelids as his legs gave out. He struggled to push back the darkness, looking up at a large, muscular man with spiky white hair. How had he not heard him? The blackness overcame his vision as the man reached for him.

The sound of dripping water was the first thing that Izuku noticed, the smell of rust and the acrid stench of sweat was next. He opened his eyes, a spike of pain going through his head as light seared his retinas. He squinted around, the room he was in was small, no windows, just bright lights on the ceiling and plain concrete walls and floor…except those reddish-brown stains and the drain in the middle of the room.

The only way out was a steel door that didn’t have a handle. He forced his body to sit up, a metallic clink drawing his attention to the shackle around his right wrist and the chain connecting it to the wall. His heart was suddenly in his throat as he shot to his feet, gritting his teeth as the knife-like pain in his skull flared up. His goggles, mask and comm were gone, so was his utility belt, grappling brace and taser staff. And his feet were bare, he didn’t even have his socks.

The suit he wore was still on, and his leggings and hoodie, and whoever had taken him had left his gloves on. What happened? Where was he? What about Yui-nee? What about Eraser? What if they were here too? What if they were-

He forced himself to take a deep breath, holding it before blowing it out through his nose, repeating it for a couple moments as he tried to calm his racing heart. You can’t panic right now. Panicking won’t help anyone.

Izuku frowned as he rubbed the tender spot on his head, hoping the blow hadn’t cracked his skull. Granny Chiyo would be mad enough.

“Well, look who’s finally awake.”

He jumped at the deep voice, looking at the door. Two vermillion eyes glared down at him from an opening in the door, which slowly opened. The man that had knocked him out walked into the room.

“I have to say I’m surprised that my people have had so much trouble with a middle school brat. I was expecting an adult not a baby-faced punk.” He raised an eyebrow at him.

“W-who are you?” he winced at the stutter, wasn’t he passed that? The man grinned, his eyes starting to glow as purple sparks of electricity ran up his arms.

“I’m Voltage, the boss of Ultraviolet.”

Where was he?! She was gone for ten minutes and Izuku’s comm was dead! The tracker in his staff wasn’t responding or the one in the utility belt or even the one hidden in his suit was silent! Yui was searching street cameras for him, but of course he’d been patrolling in an area that had half of its cameras out of commission.

She never should have let him go out alone. The Commission could have put a hit out on them or he could have run across Endeavor-no there wasn’t anything on the news about a large-scale fire…why couldn’t she find anything?!

The comm in her ear beeped and her head snapped up, already trying to trace it. “Null? Null, are you okay?”

“Oh, you sound so worried.” Her blood turned to ice at the deep voice that was definitely not her brother’s. “Null must be pretty important to you, ControlFreak. Did you like the little distraction I set up for you? It didn’t take you long to find Circuit but it was long enough for me to take your partner.” He chuckled! The bastard fucking chuckled after admitting that he took Izuku!

“Whoever you are, I’m going to find you.” She growled, feeling her eyes start to glow.

“Oh sweetheart, I’m hoping you do. But I’m going to have fun with our little friend. Let’s see what breaks first: my security defenses or Null’s spirit.” The line went dead as she slammed her hands down on the coffee table.

Her fists shook as he pulled in a shaky breath, she was going to find that bastard and rip his tongue from his head. She pulled out her phone.

“Himiko, you and Dabi need to get here. Izu’s been taken. I’m going to need help,”

----------------------------------------

When Himi and Dabi ran into the apartment, it was hours later, and Yui only had one blurry recording of a muscular man appearing through a purple mist before he swung a bat at Izuku’s head and took him away through the portal? Who the fuck had a warping Quirk?

“Yui-chan! Where’s Izu-chan? Who do I need to stab?!” Himiko had a bright pink switchblade in her hand, waving it around.

“I don’t know where he is! They either have blockers or they destroyed his gear…all I know is the guy is tall, muscular, white, with white spiky hair and red eyes. And probably from America with his terrible accent.” She growled, “I’m trying to find people fitting the description but I didn’t find him in the Japanese civilian or villain databases and the American system is being fucking stubborn!”

“We’ll get him back, Yui.” Dabi promised, putting his hand on her shoulder.

“Yeah! And we’ll stab them and make them pay!” Himiko leaned against her other side, wrapping her arms around her waist.

She blinked back tears, almost collapsing against them before she finally got through, “Fucking finally! Let’s start with major villains….fuck…” Her skin broke out in goosebumps as she looked at the picture. Voltage, leader of Ultraviolet matched the fuzzy image, and it was too much of a coincidence for the leader of the crime syndicate that the vigilantes had encountered.

“Is that the guy? Yui you look pale…is this him?” Himiko asked, looking between the screen and Yui.

“Voltage, his Quirk controls electricity in the air, he can focus it on his body but he can also interfere with electronics…I did some digging with Caustic. I’ll have to check again but I think they have three bases…we need more people.” She growled.

Her plan was to go to one location with Himiko and Dabi, their morals were flexible and they loved the green bean almost as much as she did. They’d look away from her doing unheroic things, maybe even join her. But three locations meant three spots where there could be large groups of people. She couldn’t send Himiko or Dabi to locations alone, and they couldn’t attack one place at a time without risking them warning Voltage.

She connected to Eraser’s comm, “Eraser, can you hear me?”

“Control? I’m here.”

“I need you to come to the apartment, bring Mic and one other pro hero you trust with Null’s life. He’s been taken, and we’re getting him back.”
