Chapter - 5 : The Invaders

---

As the school bell approached, Alex found his way to his designated classroom, labeled "Mana: Class A." He purposefully chose the last seat in the final row, seeking to blend into the background and avoid unnecessary attention. His past experiences had led him to develop a preference for solitude, as he believed it would allow him to focus on his studies and sword training without distractions.

The class sections were organized based on the students' aptitude for sensing mana using the "Basic Mana Method." Those who were able to sense mana within the first ten days were placed in Class A, while those who took between eleven and twenty days were assigned to Class B. Finally, those who took longer than twenty days, up to a maximum of three months, were placed in Class C. It was widely accepted that sensing mana beyond the three-month mark was deemed impossible, as no such cases had ever been documented.

Although Alex had always preferred to keep a low profile and avoid unnecessary attention, the realization of the benefits associated with being placed in Class A rather than Class B or C made him reconsider. With firm determination, he made the resolute decision to inform the school authorities that he had sensed mana on the tenth day, even though in truth he had sensed it within just one day.

This remarkable feat was unprecedented, as the shortest time recorded for anyone to sense mana was two days. However, Alex's extraordinary aptitude surpassed all expectations, placing him in a league of his own. Today, in the middle of this world, stood Jack Rover, a revered Middle Holy Weapon Master known for wielding an "SS level Divine Spear Weapon named Angel's Cry". Jack's awe-inspiring talent and the power of his divine spear had propelled him to reach the Holy level in a mere 300 years.

As Alex slowly regained his focus, he found himself confronted by James Weber, a sickly-looking individual who seemed to be in a daze. James, seemingly oblivious to Alex's lack of response, proceeded to engage him in conversation.

"Hey, are you excited for the awakening tomorrow?" James asked eagerly, his voice filled with anticipation.

Although Alex acknowledged James' presence, he remained silent, not offering a direct response. He observed James closely, noting his pale and slender physique, along with the prominent dark circles under his eyes. It was apparent that James's physical appearance was not a result of malnutrition but rather a curse that plagued his family. This curse had been passed down since the time his grandfather awakened the "C level Cursed Hammer: Stone Hammer." The curse caused their bodies to gradually lose blood, necessitating the regular injection of at least 25 blood bags per day to sustain themselves.

Surprisingly, James voluntarily shared this information with Alex, despite not being prompted to do so. He appeared to be a talkative individual, willing to openly discuss personal matters even with relative strangers. Although Alex's initial response remained unchanged, he couldn't help but be intrigued by the peculiar circumstances that surrounded James and his family.

As the middle-aged man approached the podium, James's attention was diverted, and he turned his focus toward the front of the classroom. It was their class teacher, Mr. Jerry Mags, a level 7 Intermediate Weapon Master who specialized in wielding an E level Knife Weapon. The students respectfully greeted him and settled into their seats, ready to begin the class.

Mr. Mags initiated the session by discussing the day's schedule, ensuring that everyone was aware of the topics to be covered. Soon, the conversation shifted toward a more serious matter—the Invaders. These mysterious entities posed a constant threat to their world, requiring the utmost vigilance and preparation from all awakened individuals.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

Mr. Mags scanned the classroom, seeking a student willing to answer his question about the origins of the Invaders. The room fell silent for a moment as the students contemplated the question. Finally, a student named Emily Rain who is their class monitor raised her hand, indicating her readiness to respond.

Mr. Mags acknowledged Emily and motioned for her to speak. She stood up and spoke with confidence, her voice clear and concise.

"The Invaders are beings from other dimensions or realms that have somehow found a way to enter our world," Emily explained. "They possess powerful supernatural abilities and often seek to dominate or destroy our society. The exact reason for their arrival is still unknown, but some theories suggest that they are drawn to the immense mana concentration present on our planet. It is believed that they view our world as a valuable resource for their own purposes."

Mr. Mags nodded approvingly at Emily's response. "Very well explained, Emily," he commended.

"Indeed, the Invaders possess an elusive and formless nature that makes them difficult to combat using conventional means. Their existence challenges the very fabric of our reality, and as such, conventional weapons are largely ineffective against them."

He walked closer to the edge of the podium, his gaze sweeping across the classroom. "Awakeners, on the other hand, possess a unique ability to tap into the wellspring of mana that flows through our world. By awakening their natal weapons and channeling their mana through them, they can imbue their weapons with a power that can harm the Invaders."

Mr. Mags raised his hand, his own weapon, the E level Knife, glinting in the light. "These natal weapons become a conduit for the awakeners' mana, transforming them into formidable tools capable of combating the Invaders. The combination of skill, technique, and mana-infused weaponry is what allows awakeners to stand a chance against these formless creatures."

He emphasized the importance of awakeners in the ongoing battle against the Invaders. "Awakening is not merely a gift or an ability; it is a responsibility. As awakeners, you possess the potential to protect our world and its inhabitants from the encroaching darkness. Through rigorous training, honing your skills, and mastering the mana within you, you can become the frontline defenders that our world needs."

Mr. Mags concluded his explanation, leaving the students with a sense of purpose and understanding.

As the bell resounded throughout the classroom, signaling the end of the day, students swiftly gathered their belongings and prepared to leave. Knowing that tomorrow marked the highly anticipated awakening, there were no further physical classes scheduled. Mr. Mags, their teacher, offered his heartfelt wishes of good luck to all the students, knowing the significance of the upcoming event.

Alex, like the rest of his classmates, exited the classroom and embarked on his journey homeward. Unbeknownst to him, James observed his departure with a wistful sigh. However, their paths diverged as a sleek car suddenly pulled up before James. A well-dressed butler emerged from the vehicle and, upon lowering the car window, beckoned to James, addressing him as "Young master". With a nod of acknowledgment, James climbed into the car, leaving the school grounds behind.
