Nick went into the spacecraft and found an air quality detection device. He held it up and the device immediately went to work. After some weird beeping noises and some machine sounds. It showed that there were some strange particles that it couldn’t identify. This confirmed Nick’s suspicions. Nick looked into the air carefully. He identified some purple dust particles floating in the air. Walking around the base camp, there wasn’t any trace of plants or animals that produce this kind of particles.
“Was it placed here purposely?” Nick wondered.
Nick was thinking hard, but a voice sucked him out of his thoughts.
“Nick, stop daydreaming and come help us set up camp”, Adam commanded.
Nick took out a glass vial. He waved it around and collected some in the vial. Ryan walked up to him, and told him to carry the communication device out. Nick did not tell Ryan or Adam about his findings. Nick entered the spacecraft and carried the communication device out. It felt quite effortless when carrying it because of the low gravitational force by the planet. Nick was still thinking about the suspicious particles.
“You should tell Adam and Ryan about it”
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
“Who are you?” Nick panicked.
A few minutes passed, and there were no responses.
“Hello?!” Nick yelled.
“My identity does not matter” said a rather high pitched voice.
The voice echoed around him even though he was standing in the middle of the plain. The voice reminded of his youngest son. The voice was so squeaky and yet familiar.
“What do you want?” Nick questioned the voice.
“Something detrimental is going to happen soon… ” the mysterious voice said.
Nick looked in his surroundings, but he could not detect the source of the voice. It seemed like the voice was produced inside of his mind. His face was full of emotions: fear, terror and dread. His concentration was lost and dropped the glass vial. The vial slowly dropped to the ground, it shattered into a million pieces. The tiny shards of glass flew everywhere, it flew in front of Nick’s eyes. He could see the reflection of himself for a brief moment. The fragments quickly dropped to the ground and soon vanished under the shallow grass.
A few minutes had passed, and Nick was still contemplating that moment. He didn’t want anything bad to happen once more. He wasn’t sure what to do, since Adam and Ryan were still setting up the camp. A war between doing nothing or something had begun in his mind. After a while, the results were clear. He was going to do something about it.
“Hey!”
“Come out and face me like a man!” yelled Nick.
“Just because you have an advantage against us, you can’t hide from us”
“Who are you talking to?” Ryan was puzzled.
“Nothing… I was just talking to myself”, Nick murmured.
About 30 seconds had gone by, but there wasn’t a response. Nick looked all around again. He began walking around and searching for the source of the voice. He noticed the woods beside the base camp. He turned around and looked at Ryan and Adam. They were busy setting up camp. He decided to enter the forest to explore.
