Now he checked everyone and had a careful look around the supermarket and saw there was nothing out of the ordinary, Kaan stopped his ability.
The moment his ability was off he felt like his brain collapsed for a second. He quickly pressed the tip of the sword to the ground and lightly bent over it as a support.
‘I’ve waited for it to be bad but it’s more painful and disadvantageous than I’ve expected.’
He gritted his teeth because of pain radiating from his brain, though the pain was excessive it was bearable and the problem came with the condition it put his body in. He was not able to think freely under pain, his body was not listening to his commands rightfully as if a current went over his body and closed all of his systems. Thankfully he was able to recover the control of his body rather quickly and the only thing left was pain.
Kaan came next to the abomination and after stabbing the sword to the ground with an eerie screeching noise, he slightly bent and looked at him in the face.
“Roy, isn’t it?”
Roy quickly nodded to answer Kaan, it was easy to see his fear, to see that his brain trying to look for a way out as the blade stopped near his throat. Kaan saw him flinch when their eyes met.
“I know you heard that we have some questions for you. I want you to be truthful towards us Roy, because if I sense you’re lying or giving us incomplete information, I’ll make you unable to move and then throw you into the zombies to be eaten alive, got it?”
Kaan waited for a while for him to grasp the situation he was in and for words to sink into his brain. There was no malice in his words he was just stating things thoroughly. The guy checked Kaan with an aghast-filled expression on his face, to see if he was bluffing but the only thing he saw was the calm demeanour of Kaan with an indifferent look on his face.
This quickly reminded Roy the leader of the Crimson Blood when he butchered two lives as if it was nothing. Seeing this similarity made him quickly believe the reality of Kaan’s words as he felt terrorized by the idea of being eaten alive.
“But if we deem that you’ve cooperated well enough, we’ll let you go, as we are not murderers like you. I’d say it’s a pretty good deal, don’t you think?”
The guy once again nodded, this time putting in a little bit more effort. He didn’t seem to fully believe what Kaan had said but still, it was a hope to hold on it this situation, just like Kaan wanted.
“Good, then I’m starting first.”
Kaan raised his head to check if others had something to say but Emily and Dean were watching him with kind of odd looks, he was not sure what they had in their mind, well at least Thar did have a plain straightforward expression.
“Let’s begin with who this ‘Crimson Sword’ group is.”
Kaan asked the question and Roy quickly thought about the information he had about them.
“I don’t know much about them, we just met with their leader in here. He was… so strong and ruthless, he killed two people who tried to attack him as if it was nothing. He was wearing a red mask. He had a shirt fully red with blood and a black jean on him and, umm, he was tall, maybe two meters, and agile so he had to be young.
He told us to guard this place after that shirtless guy helped him. He took the shirtless guy to the Crimson Sword but not us. We don’t know much about the leader, we just followed what he told us as he was strong and scared we’ll face the same end if we don’t as he told us he was going to come back…”
Roy quickly began to spill everything he know everything about in anxiety, without even taking a breath. He stopped a moment and inhaled deeply to continue from where he left off.
“He also collects women but I really don’t know why. That’s why the two guys attacked him as he wanted to hand them the women they were travelling with. What I know is he is looking for the women to be strong because he killed one of the women too, deeming that she was not worthy.”
“Strong in which way?”
Thar asked very displeased by things he heard about.
“I don’t know. I just saw these things, I didn’t even want to join them!”
“Are you really don’t know?”
Kaan said as he brought the sword near to his throat, even lightly delving into his skin to draw blood.
“R-Really, please, I-I’m telling everything!”
“Alright, Roy. Don’t worry, I believe in you.”
Kaan looked at the guy in front of his legs with a smile on his face, but Roy saw that this fucker’s smile didn’t reach his hollow, cold eyes which pierced and inspected him closely, as he was seeing everything he was about to do. He gulped in fear and averted his eyes quickly, he fucking hated this guy, where the hell did they come from while everything was going so well?
“Was there anyone else notable than the leader?”
“T-T-There was another man, he was wearing a blue r-r-robe and another guy w-w-who was wearing full body armour. They didn’t s-s-say or d-d-did anything so I don’t know if they w-w-were important but they looked s-s-strong too.”
Roy couldn’t stop his stuttering as his body surrendered to his fear. He cursed to himself thinking how he must be looking like a wimp but there was nothing he could do as the coldness of the sword standing next to his throat reminded him he was at their mercy. But at least they didn’t look like that monster with the red sword, yes, there was a chance that he could survive, he just needed to be useful.
“Do you have any questions?”
Kaan looked at the three once again as he thought there was nothing else this guy could give him that he needed.
“Do you where have they gone or have they talked about what they were actually trying to do? Maybe that shirtless guy might have told you something?”
Emily asked the guy shaking in fear on the ground.
“I d-d-don’t know, t-t-that guy d-d-did not talk with us m-m-much but I saw them heading t-t-towards the city c-c-centre after getting the w-w-women.”
After his answer Emily was in a thoughtful state and Kaan looked at the other two if they got any questions but they did not so he turned his looks now shaking and even crying lightly from the fear.
“C-Can I go now, please, please I will not say anything and j-j-just be on my way, I told you everything I-I know! You said ”
Roy began to plea as he felt suppressed by the silence and the hostile looks on him.
Kaan looked at this idiot under him with empty eyes. How funny that he really thought there was a way out for him. There was no way Kaan was going to let him go after he saw what happened in this place and also he didn’t deserve to live in Kaan’s eyes.
Now his arguable usefulness was also out of the window Kaan decided to kill him but when he was going to finish the job he felt that his hand holding to sword began to shake lightly, stopping him from delving further into the guy looked around in terror. Kaan felt amusement towards his mind for still being ‘pacifist’ as he had been for a long time, though his thoughts changed for a long time, it seemed that the idea still lingered in his mind, ‘violence is unnecessary’.
“Kaan…”
Emilly tried to call out to Kaan to help him as she thought he was having a hard time but Kaan just started talking again, a little loudly to suppress her and stop her from continuing her sentence.
“Ah, I remembered that I had a last question. Tell me, Roy, did he plead?”
“Who…?”
He looked at Kaan's eyes with a confounded look in them.
“The boy that you tore the arm off and then broke the leg to die in blood loss, did you enjoy as he crawled away from your sight in pain? Did you have fun with your idiot friend knowing that you could help him but decided to let him die as he was not worthy of sharing some canned foods, as he was weak?”
Kaan saw the guy freeze a second and then tried to reach him. When Kaan looked into his eyes he saw the guy finally grasp the realisation that there was no way out for him and suddenly he shouted with the anger of being and the fear and tried to reach Kaan. The moment he moved his arm Kaan cut his throat without any second of hesitation, Kaan thought that he talked a little too much.
Even in the times when he valued being a ‘pacifist’, he, sometimes, felt hungry for violence and right now killing this guy was just a need. You could solve many things without violence but sometimes there was no other. Violence was unnecessary until it worked for the good of people. He didn’t have a grain of mercy towards this guy, to begin with, he was just a tool that he needed to use.
“You know, you’re just a fool like your friend.”
Kaan said bending over Roy with an uncontrollable smile taking a place on his face. He felt nothing as he watched him dying under him, maybe just a little bit of accomplishment, as he saw this man under him was just another ‘bad guy’ from his vision, he held no value and quality to be left alive.
Roy began to gurgle as the blood blocked his windpipe and tried to stop blood loss, a futile attempt. He looked around for someone to help him but all he saw was the faces of his friend's killers. Then he one last time looked at his killer who watched him with those still indifferent eyes and the same light smile on his face, he understood what a lunatic really was as death claimed his life.
A few seconds after Roy’s death, Emily walked next to Kaan and lightly pat his shoulder two times.
“You’ve done well.”
She said with heavy eyes. Kaan turned behind with a smile.
“You too.”
***
After the interrogation and killing of Roy, Thar helped Kaan to bandage his wound as he had a first-aid certificate. Now there was nothing standing between the team and the rayon so they had gathered every ration they could take. It was not that much but enough for many.
Kaan watched the group for a while and thought about the things they got at hand. For now, Kaan didn’t give much thought to this Crimson Sword group as they could perish in one day as they were founded. It was expected people to group with the same mindset or same goal yet it was harder to organize and manage a group. Also, the information they gained from Roy was not very grounded or critical. He’d think about them if they succeeded in surviving.
The group was doing okay, everyone was doing what they needed to do, and everyone was capable in different ways in his eyes. He was not someone who felt bad about listening to orders, he would be glad to follow a good leader. Though he couldn't say Emily was good or bad in leading with her, at least she did follow what she thought was good or necessary even if it meant getting their hands dirty and didn't hesitate when she saw hardship.
As for her mindset, Kaan couldn't say his thoughts were the same as hers but it seemed that they were close, so it was good. He also knew she was checking how they were doing from time to time, judging if they were able to follow the way she chose for them without much problem and it was a big plus.
When Thar was over with his hand they joined Emily and Dean who were next to the shelf. As they took canned food from the rayons, Emily thought if it would do good to leave a little bit behind for anyone who might need it but seeing that the others didn’t share the same mindset with her and it was an illusionary thought so she dismissed it and took everything, it would be better if she gave it to the ones in need if she desires rather than something like this happening again.
After everyone had a fair share they gathered the remaining in one bag and Thar offered to carry it for them as he was capable of carrying it without a problem and everyone agreed. After collecting the ration from the shelf it was time to share the weapons amongst them.
Holding the sword in his hands Kaan thought how bad he was at using it. Especially after seeing how Dean and the shirtless guy handled their swords made him aware he wouldn’t last long against them without his skill, knowing where to strike, knowing when to use which technique and knowing how to move your body alongside your sword made a big difference. Although he had information it was no good as he was not experienced with a sword, but still, he decided to change his bat with one of the swords as it was easier to inflect lethal damage.
He would prefer if he had a chance to get a ranged weapon but he also didn’t have any experience using any ranged weapon still he thought it would be safer than fighting at a close range with a sword but for now, he had to with what he got at hand. Dean didn’t want to as he didn’t have experience dual wielding and Thar felt better with a blunt weapon so he got Kaan's bat. Now there were two swords left in hand and Emily offer she carry them and no one objected. Now that their job was over with the ration and weapons, Kaan reached next to Emily and quietly talked to her.
“We need to burn the bodies.”
He thought it was better to talk to her about it first as Kaan hoped they would be in the same mindset about it and it would be easy for her to convey it Thar.
“What?”
She responded in the same quiet manner with surprise in her words.
“I do not want to leave anything that could be used to track us back, we cannot know what kind of skills the group that will come back could have, it's better to get rid away from their bodies.”
Kaan’s first thought was throwing them to zombies; they would eat them whole without leaving much behind or just lure the zombies towards here to make them feed on dead bodies. He thought it would be more effective to get rid of them without a shred of evidence but he didn’t want the group to carry dead bodies around or put effort to lure zombies for them to eat dead bodies as the group looked already taken aback from the killing and he didn’t want to push them more or do it alone as they watch him carry dead bodies to zombies, would they even accept it?
“Hmm… you are right.”
Emily was surprised that there would be a day that she would be agreeing to burn the bodies of people they killed but his way of thinking sounded very right to her. She was thinking of dealing with this ‘Crimson Sword’ cult or whatever they wanted to call themselves, but she didn’t want anyone to know what happened here.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
She was also surprised that Kaan was so unaffected by the thing that happened, she wondered if it was an act or his normal self or maybe some kind of skill, it was kind of strange but without judging if it was good or bad, she admired his clear-mindedness as she should be the one who thought about doing something with the corpses. It was her job, or at least she thought it was her job as they followed her lead.
“Let me tell them about it.”
“Okey, then I’ll gather the bodies together.”
Emily walked towards the two to inform what they were going to do and Kaan headed toward the bodies. After Emily told the other two about what they were going to do, they left together to gather materials for the fire. Thar stayed behind to ask if Kaan needed help with carrying bodies but Kaan said he was okay as it was a very easy job so Thar joined the two.
It didn’t take long for him to gather the bodies, Roy’s body was in the messiest state so he piled the other two over his to not have blood too much blood on him. They returned back after a few minutes and placed the things they collected from rayons on the dead bodies and then Emily stopped in front of them with a match in her hand.
She eyed the match in her hand and then the three piled bodies in front of her with a weary look on her face. Though it was a very easy thing to do, just lighting the match and throwing it on the corpses, it was just a weird thing.
She saw Thar was ready to help and do this task for her if she ever asked and the same for the Kaan as he wanted to be done with this quickly and continue their path. As for Dean, he looked like he was not very in the moment, strangely she thought that he would be more affected by it but he just had a blank face. But she didn’t want to give this to anyone, as this was her job as the leader so she lighted the match with a sigh and then gave the three bodies into flames.
Watching the fire engulfing dead bodies Kaan thought it could be degrading the mental of the group but he was not sure about it, maybe he was thinking that they were too fragile. He saw Thar and Emily were focused on the fire as if they were captivated weirdness and unfamiliarity of the situation. Dean just grabbed his sword and walked next to Kaan.
“Will this be enough for us to be not followed by them?”
He asked as he didn’t think that burning these bodies was the most effective way of getting rid of them.
“Probably, I don’t think they cared much about them to begin with so why would they waste time and resources to find their killers?”
As Kaan watched the flames, he thought it would be better to throw them into zombies, as now it was messy and hard to know how long it would take the bodies to burn into ashes. But it felt more suitable for now and it must be enough, even if it were not and they came after them, he didn’t though it would be much of a problem.
Dean nodded and then called out the two next to them.
“Guys let’s move on. They began to smell and I don’t want to watch three bodies cremate in front of my eyes.”
His word put them out from the captivating effect of flames. The group one last time checked if there was anything more to do there and then move towards the entrance to leave the supermarket for good.
The group was quiet, what was there to say actually? ‘Yey! We killed three people and then set them on fire and left them to burn to ashes, how awesome it was, right, right?’ yeah, that was not happening and Kaan really appreciated the quiet after everything happened as his mind continued to throb in slight pain.
Like how they left, the entrance was mostly empty, yet there were new zombies gathered under the ill-fated young man. Thar once again killed the zombies, knowing that it was not going to change anything and zombies once again were going to gather under the dead body, but he just wanted to do it.
After that, they continued on their way. It was getting closer to dark, so it was better that they reached their destination before the evening. As they got the streets got tighter and the building got smaller and shorter. There were not many humans around too, streets were possessed by the silence of ghosts.
When they were half an hour on the road, they suddenly hear a roar which echoed over the city. Everyone raised their head to see a large dragon in the air, flopping its wide wings on the air as it looked down to the city centre and its long tail filled with curved spikes swung right to left in a threatening manner. The being had a majestic look to itself as it hung in the air, its scales were deep blue and looked enticing and sturdy. Every movement of its body looked elegant and in tranquillity yet you could feel the fierce power it contained.
“Is, is that a dragon!?”
Dean literary shouted in excitement and Emily seemed the share the same bewilderment while Thar looked more cautious towards the monster he was seeing and got closer to Emily.
The dragon opened its mouth and then it breathed lighting out of its mouth. The lightning quickly bifurcated in the air and in seconds hit its target. The strong sound caused by the lighting quickly reached their ears much stronger than its roar, enough to cause vibration in their bodies.
After breathing lightning out of his mouth and roaring once again, it flew higher into the sky and began to fly towards the mountainside.
“Yes, yes it is and… is it coming to our side?”
Emily squinted her eyes and saw a dragon begin to fly over their side.
“Everyone take cower, now!”
Thar shouted and everyone found something to hide partially, even though it was a funny thing to do against a dragon, there was no way they could hide their presence from it, Kaan followed this motion.
Kaan quickly reached and put Dean out of his awed state and pulled him over to the near building where a car smashed into the wall and cowered next to it.
The dragon didn’t even look into their side but Kaan felt its presence. Even though it just hovered over them the air got heavier making it harder to breathe and the gravity got stronger as only worthy could stand on their feet in its presence.
Kaan also felt its power trying to reach into his mind, yet this power trying to creep into his mind was stopped by a violent and devouring force in his mind.
Suddenly the dragon turned its head to see what kind of being was opposing his might and focused on the four human beings on the ground.
The moment the dragon turned its head, Dean and Thar was not able to withstand its presence and fell to their knees quickly. It was like the dragon was right in front of them, its were judging their worth with its sharp eyes. They could not even meet their eyes with the mighty being let alone move their body with their will, they were just able to bow in front of the immense power. They felt how mighty the being was in front of them and how insignificant their mortal lives meant for it.
As for the Kaan and Emily. Kaan was just judged by the physical side of things as his mind just devoured every attempt the power of the dragon tried to as if there was a wall made of void in his mind. Emily was not immune to the mental effects of the dragon as Kaan but a light surrounded her body, which Kaan could call radiant, and she was able to withstand its mighty presence yet she also couldn’t meet with the dragon's eyes and grew pale with each passing second.
When Kaan looked up to the air, for a second he felt their eyes with the dragon locked into each other even though he was not able to see them. Kaan felt the dragon’s aura was nearly at the same level as The God Of Infernal Gate yet it was not the same, it didn’t contain any malice or aggression towards them, it was just come naturally along with the dragon’s existence and the core of dragon’s aura just felt different.
As they looked at each other, Kaan felt an unseen force which pierced through his body and carried the words of the dragon.
‘Nlihliz...? Hmm, then you might carry one task for the good of your world. Near the centre lies the seed of corruption, shatter it before it grows as you have what it takes to suppress it. Heed my words or not as you mortals have always followed your own paths, and everything is already over for me.‘
After these words, the dragon withdrew his eyes over them and without elaborating anything, continue its way.
With its aura finally gone away, Dean collapsed to the ground and Emily fell to her knees with a very pale complex. Thar quickly got up and rushed towards Emily, he was the one who got least affected by the dragon. Kaan felt his legs were very weak right now but he felt he was gradually getting better after the dragon left. He walked next to Dean to check if he was alright and saw a still very awed look on his face.
“I cannot believe we just fucking faced a dragon a few seconds ago!”
Dean exclaimed in bewilderment while watching the path the dragon flew and got up from the ground.
“It’s just another monster, Dean.”
Thar responded with a tone trying to inflict his idea as he did not share the same mentality with Dean. Yet Dean was grounded in his thoughts and wasn’t swayed by a simple sentence.
“It’s no monster Thar, isn’t it easy to see that it could not be a monster?”
“Well, I didn’t feel anything else when it made me fall to my knees but a monster’s power.”
“Oh come on! What did you expect when you met with a fucking dragon? It didn’t even try to hurt us while it could have with just one flick of its finger, nearly anything else tried to kill us here after that voice told us to survive as they are monsters. Dragons are not monsters, or at least not just monsters, you know, also in many stories they are the protector of their worlds.”
Dean, it was the first time Kaan saw him engaged in conversation with this much enthusiasm, but he was not sure why it was for dragons.
“Also, the harbingers of the end of times. We’ll see if it's friendly or not if we face him, but I have to say I also believe that it might be on our side.”
Emily added as she also watched the way where the dragon headed with a melancholic expression appearing on her face.
“You also think like that?”
Thar asked, surprised by her claim.
“Yeah, it would be just foolish to call a being like that a monster, Thar. I think we just don’t know what exactly our world is becoming, on the other hand, it… whatever, let’s just get going. I want to reach there before the sunset.”
Emily gave one last look towards the dragon’s body which began to leave their field of vision. How could she call a being like Achkeresh, the guide of living, a mere monster when she knew when the time came she would sacrifice her life for them? She very much wanted to share what she had seen, what she had known with the group but her lips were sealed by the oath she swore and it made her feel bad not being able to tell about the sacrifices of many like Achkeresh, but it was what she agreed for a chance to change everything.
With the dragon out of their sight, the group once again started walking to their destination. Now finally things got quiet Kaan wondered what exactly was happening around the city centre. A dragon, people running away from the city centre, zombies getting fewer as you got away…
He felt he was missing out on something by avoiding it. He wanted to see how things would get in a few days and wanted to have more information before going to see it himself but what if he would be late for things? Well, the things were not uneventful even on this side and he thought he was just being too sceptical but still the feeling of missing out was persistent in his mind.
For a few minutes, they continued the way by the lead of Emily on the street, killing a few zombies when they were on their path. But then Kaan felt the ground begin to shake lightly, at first he didn’t mind but then he felt it was getting stronger and stronger.
“Hey, do you feel it too?”
Dean asked as the vibrations got stronger.
“Yeah is it an ea….”
Before Thar could finish his sentence to answer Dean, the level of the strength of the vibrations on the ground increased significantly. Kaan felt like he was falling for a second but he quickly got used to the shaking and found a balance. After a few seconds, the sound of collapsing buildings came to his ear, but it was far, near the centre.
Kaan used [I See The Worst] to examine what was happening and after seconds of observation, he understood that the strength of the shaking gradually lessened towards the outer parts of the city by the increasing numbers of collapsing buildings and the strength of the vibrations they withstand.
As the vibration of the ground continued Kaan, he quickly looked at the four-story apartment next to them to see the cracks and falling parts and warned the group.
“Leave the street, now! The building is coming down!”
He quickly rushed out of the street and the group followed him behind. He quickly checked around if any of the buildings were but they seemed to persist without a problem, it looked like it was the only defective one to be able to collapse with this much of a strain on it, so he closed his skill to not face a backslash again. Not long after they left the street the building collapsed into itself covering the street with its broken and shattered remains and dust.
“Damn it, a few minutes ago it was a dragon and now a fucking earthquake, what is happening?”
Thar exclaimed in exasperation of things not taking a stabile turn already, new things were constantly happening because of that they were not even able to catch their breath.
“And who makes a building that collapses against only this much power?!”
Thar said in anger as some idiot's mistake put them in unneeded danger and began to rant about them without holding back and Dean happily joined him in this.
“It is not an earthquake, something is happening in the centre.”
Kaan’s voice didn’t reach the two and was just caught by Emily.
Thank god they were relatively out of the city so there were not many tall buildings. Even if the house they were next to right now collapsed, they would probably continue living with injuries but that did not happen. The earthquake finally came to an end and then all of the group saw the real destruction. Nearly half of the building near the centre was gone, it was just covered in dust, silence taking over the city on its grasp. Kaan thought about just how many people must have died in this unexpected situation.
“Do you know what’s happening in there?”
Emily asked Kaan, seeing him observing the city for a while.
“No, I just see the velocity of the vibrations is different, higher, and so is the size of the destruction.”
“I wanted to know your take on the things happening for a while but I wasn’t sure to ask it as I wasn’t sure we would continue together and then, you know, everything happened so quickly. What do you think, Kaan, about everything that is happening? You seemed collected against whatever we faced until now and so sure about what to do, at least that’s how I felt, so I really want to know.”
Kaan waited for a second and looked at Emily’s face.
“I wanted to observe what’s going to happen as we said in the dormitory, I thought zombies were going to get stronger in time but maybe I was wrong, it looks like the city is separated into stages, the centre is the most dangerous part where things are more deadly and the number of monsters is higher and I think there are more than zombies in there considering dragon’s appearance."
Kaan checked their surrounding once more before he continued.
"Right now, it seems that we are in the safest stage as we are nearly out of the city, but it is just a theory. Everything aside, there is one pressing matter and it is that we need to get skills. What if we caught up on the earthquake in the centre and one of the buildings crashed upon us? If we had some sort of barrier skill, we might be relatively safe against it, but we don’t. We need to overcome our weaknesses quickly as things are not waiting for us to catch up with them.”
“Then isn’t it wrong for us to be moving out? We need to get stronger quickly and monsters are fewer here.”
“Indeed it seems like it, but as I said it’s just a theory. We are following you, captain, have your thoughts changed?”
Kaan said with a smile, even with a slightly playful tone and Emily got silent for a second. She turned her eyes towards the city to view the damage once again. Once a lively city fell into the silence of destruction and death. She wondered how many people died in the building they sheltered collapsing over them, or if they survived, waiting with the hope someone will come to save them.
No, who would wait in the hope of someone to come and save them in this situation? This goddamn madness even took their ability to hope for a saviour. It was overwhelming, yes, but she felt like she became a little numb to everything with the things they went through in this little time frame.
“No, it’s not like I was thinking of staying city permanently but at least for this day, I think it’s best to be out of the city. There are things I needed to do and I hope you’ll follow me at that time too. I think we made a great team.”
Kaan nodded and their conversation came to an end, he wondered what these things might be she needed to do but as she didn’t elaborate on them, he didn’t ask for more. Kaan continued to observe the broken city and Emily returned towards the two’s side. Their frustration was already dimmed and they were talking about how this building was the only one that had collapsed and how undutiful, sordid without giving a damn about human life was the fucker who give permission for this building.
Emily was the one who broke this meaningless talk with a smile on her face from seeing them talking about something… so normal. Now they were out of the conversation they both looked at the ruin the city became. Thar didn’t give much thought about it as there was nothing he could do, he only needed to do as best he can in this madness as for Dean, he just sighed.
The group was once again on their way to the forest and there was not much way left for them to reach, that is if there was not something waiting for them ahead. After moving two streets, they came across yet again a bloody scene, there were human bodies scattered around, some lay on the ground with the absence of one of their limbs and some were cut in half. It was easy to see that something wasn’t right, until they came here they hadn’t seen many people and from the trails on the ground their bodies were dragged.
Emily sighed as she observed the brutal scenery. With every passing moment, she thought she was getting used to this madness but this world was proving otherwise. Whatever caused this didn’t just kill them, someone, something played with their bodies and tortured them to death by dismembering their body parts.
Not long after she felt something, something was getting closer to their side on one of the side streets. [Insight of Righteous Path] made her aware of the incoming enemy. She felt the evil and violent being coming closer to their side and was going to warn the others but then the feeling got higher and higher.
It was pure evil and hatred, the violent attitude she felt quickly turned into something more specific, hunger towards blood and death. She felt herself getting weak from the sheer amount of emotions and couldn’t stop herself from perceiving these emotions.
“Emily, is everything alright?”
Thar asked her seeing her
“Thar… we need to go, no we should escape right now.”
She felt the words stuck in her throat, she tried to gather herself, she needed to be to lead the group, to lead them to safety but the fear inflicted into her heart and constant exposure to vile emotions made it harder.
“Just tell me where, are you able to walk?”
Thar had other questions in his mind but seeing the fear and urgency in her eyes and her getting visibly weaker made him focus only on her words, ready to listen to her orders.
She was not even able to his question as she looked at the side street where these vile emotions radiated from. She wasn’t sure what it was or if it was strong enough to beat them but what she felt was death coming closer and it was hungry for their beating hearts. And then she felt it, it was aware of their presence as she was of it. Seeing that there was no more time, words quickly poured out of her mind weakly.
“Anywhere but forward, we need to run, Thar… it’s coming for us.”
