Chapter 10: Evaluation of Skill

Chapter 10: Evaluation of Skill

Kaan wondered how things would turn out like this as he observed the monster emerging from the side street. It was three meters long and had a large frame, an undead werewolf it was. It was watching them with its lifeless eyes, excited to see more prey. Its mouth was parted lightly to show its sharp teeth; its lower mouth was cut in half and one part of it was dangling slightly lower than the other.

Its black fur looked like it was losing its colour and looked very weak, here and there on its body it was already falling out, revealing the deforming flesh underneath. There was a nasty wound right over its heart but it had already formed a crust before their encounter.

It was dragging a corpse of a woman, she had a deep claw wound reaching from her neck to her nose level, and the blood gushing from the wound was leaving a blood trail on the ground which meant her death date of her was not too far.

The first thing Kaan noticed was as the fight between them began, it was hard to attack one enemy when they were three people. You were not able to focus on your enemy as you should be aware of your allies to not end up hitting any of them. So when the fight carried towards one of the walls of the buildings around from the centre of the street, it was Dean and Thar who were fighting against the undead werewolf.

The fight was fairly stable at the beginning, the werewolf would try to slash their bodies with its claws and they would dodge or parry, then when they attacked it was the same for the werewolf. The fight continued like this for a while, they were able to land a few clean hits on its body but though they were able to, they were not that effective as the werewolf didn’t mind any wound on its body while fighting wildly.

And then it suddenly changed the way it fought, it didn’t dodge any of the incoming attacks and just lunged towards Dean to grapple him. Dean tried to move away quickly as he brought the sword in front of him to guard himself but he was too slow to react. He tried to hold back it with his sword but the werewolf grabbed him on the shoulder area and smashed him to the wall and then opened its mouth wide, targeting his throat.

Dean gasped in pain but he didn’t lose his calm against the situation going in a bad way for him and without wasting time he attacked with a fast thrust towards its neck. His sword delve into the undead werewolf’s flesh, if it wasn’t an undead it could be a fatal strike and could save Dean, but against an undead, it didn’t create a difference for his situation.

Seeing that his attack didn’t do anything, he swore and tried to draw his sword back but the position was not letting him do that, so he let it go and tried to fend off the incoming mouth with his bare hands. He groaned in pain as his hands stuck into the sharp teeth of the werewolf yet still he tried to push off the werewolf.

It only succeeded in delaying his approaching end as his strength was not able to stop it. He felt the disgusting smell hitting him as he realized he was going to die, tears began to appear and he wanted to shout for help but before his voice could reach out, the werewolf tore his throat in half and then threw his corpse away to face Thar.

Thar had already reached the back of the werewolf before the werewolf tore Dean's throat but he was unsure what he could do, should he hit with the club in his hand, how would this help Dean in that situation? Seeing that he was just wasting time, he swore and throw the weapon he was holding to his side, rushing towards the werewolf. Maybe he was more decisive or had been faster to react and move he could save Dean but when he grabbed the werewolf on its throat with both hands from its back, Dean was already dead.

There werewolf tried to shake Thar off of his back and tried to reach him but Thar was not letting him catch into his body as he punched its head again and again. After a few seconds, the werewolf was able to grab him from its arm and tried to throw him away but Thar was able to withstand the strength of the pull and landed one last strike on its head to crack its skull.

The werewolf for the first time howled in pain and then growled angrily as it hold Thar with both hands and threw him off of his body. Before Thar was sent flying off he grasped the dangling part of the mouth with one hand, he gritted his teeth and endured the pain of teeth delving into his flesh and held it tightly to not lose his grasp.

When he was thrown off he tried to punch the werewolf once again but he missed it as he was not able to aim accurately in the air, at least he was able to tear apart the dangling half of its mouth along with him.

Werewolf looked around with eyes filled with rage and pain, looking for more easy prey as the prey in front of him was dangerous. When he spotted Emily who was standing as if she was frozen right in the place before the fight started with a blanched face and a shocked expression of the things happening in front of her.

The werewolf howled as if he was in joy finding the weak of the group of humans he was fighting and began to rush towards her side. Thar quickly got up and began to shout to the monster and ran behind him as fast as he could, sensing him targeting Emily.

Kaan dashed towards the werewolf and it quickly changed his focus on him. Kaan welcomed the incoming left claw with his sword and then slashed it and sidestepped to dodge its right claw which directly aimed at his heart. Kaan raised his sword and try to slash its chest but he was not able to cut it as the werewolf blocked it with his left claw.

Kaan quickly withdraw the sword while aiming towards its fingers and claimed its three fingers. Still, he was not able to dodge the incoming attack fully this time and the werewolf’s claw delve into his chest but not too far into it and then kicked him.

He moved slightly away with the impact but quickly got ready for the next exchange of attacks but the werewolf using this opening left him behind and continued to run towards Emily’s side once again. Kaan began to follow him quickly but even though he was not much slower than it, the werewolf was able to put a little distance between them.

Emily first tried to run away but seeing that it was just putting her in a more vulnerable state, considering she didn’t have much strength on her body to run fast to begin with, she just turned around to face the undead werewolf. As it got closer to her, her body began to shake as the feelings projecting from it intensified, her face blanched as if all the blood left her body and her eyes looked frail and unsteady; it was clear that she was not ready to face the monster getting closer to her but there was no other way.

The werewolf was growling in joy at seeing the broken woman in front of him and quickly wanted to play with his new toy until it got cold like the others. When the werewolf come near to her and towered over her, Emily quickly slashed towards its chest with both of the swords.

The werewolf stepped back to get out of the range then lunged forwards with his right claw. Emily quickly changed the direction of one of the swords she was holding to parry the attack, she was barely able to withstand its power and then attacked with the other sword in a thrusting motion but when the tip of the sword met with the werewolf’s chest it was only able to delve into its skin lightly.

She was weak, and she was vulnerable to the monster from the beginning, she just had to defend herself until others reached to help her but her mind was hazy as she tried to block the emotions that tried to infiltrate her mind. The werewolf quickly held the sword which only draw a little bit of blood and pulled it out of Emily’s hand without facing much resistance and threw it away.

The werewolf once again attack her abdomen area which she deflected, now with one sword in her hand her grip was stronger yet considering her state it didn’t make much difference, and when the other hand werewolf reach her to grab her by her neck and this time she was not able to react in time and got caught by it.

For a moment she thought about resisting this wretched monster towering over her body with eyes filled with hunger for flesh but her mind was already worn off by this pure hatred and evil projecting off its body which tried to inflict into her soul enough and she just wanted it to end.

The werewolf held her by her neck and raised her into the air. Thar shouted in rage and he just hoped Emily to hold on a little longer, just a little longer so he could save her but Emily dropped the sword from her hand indicating she had already lost her will to survive. Seeing that there was no way out, desperation filled her eyes as she looked at the two trying to reach her side in a rush to help her. Seeing her lover running towards her side with wild abandon caused tears to appear in her eyes.

She looked for the strength to hold on to the life but her resolve was already gone so she shouted with all of the strength left in her body. They still had a chance to survive and live for the good, for the thing she was not able to do, Dean was already gone because of her weakness but at least, they could still live, she hoped.

“RUN AWAY! LEAVE! PLEASE! AUERGHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

And then her voice suddenly cut and the only thing left was the sound of broken bones and the tearing of the flesh. She was split in half from her waist.

When Kaan reached Emily’s side, the werewolf was holding two parts of Emily’s torn body with a mixed expression of eeriness and happiness. The werewolf raised her upper towards its head like admiring a trophy as her organs and blood showered its body. Kaan shouted and swung the sword he held towards the arm which held Emily’s lifeless upper body, he faced resistance, its skin was thick and fur was also helping in protecting it, but the damage caused by Thar and Dean’s attack was enough for him to tear its arm from its chest.

The beast turned around and growled loudly at him as he throw the lower half of Emily to him. Kaan felt himself freeze for a second but then quickly dodged it and looked at the lower half of Emily that hit the ground and then at the undead werewolf. He grabbed the sword he held tightly.

Kaan was going to continue his assault but before him, Thar rushed like a wild animal towards the werewolf. Thar had already lost it when he saw her lover’s body split in half in front of his eyes. He was unaware of the existence of Kaan as he was only focused on his enemy with eyes that were hungry for revenge and death.

The werewolf had a sinister expression on its face as its lips curled upwards slowly. It was as if he was mocking Thar as if he knew he had hurt him dearly and was happy with the expression he created on Thar's face. It was happy with seeing the broken man in front of him, attacking him without holding anything back.

Thar thrust the bat in his hand towards the mouth of the werewolf, the werewolf raised its remaining arm and caught the bat. Thar quickly let go of the bat and jumped towards its body to tackle him to the ground. They fell to the ground together and Thar quickly got over its large body and grasped its remaining arm.

He shouted loudly as he tried to tear it off. The werewolf bit him on the arm and tore a big chunk of flesh but Thar didn’t give a mind as he continue to shout, he was grasped by the madness and nothing was more important than killing this damned creature writhed under him.

Before the werewolf can bite his arm again, Thar tore the arm off and threw it away without wasting any time and lunged his arms towards the incoming mouth. As his hands went into the mouth the monster tried to bite them off but he was not able to close his mouth against the sheer amount of power Thar displayed.

Thar’s hands were covered in blood now but he didn’t mind it, he didn’t mind anything as he went insane because of pain and agony, he was just in rage now and didn’t think of anything else than killing. When he looked at the eyes of the monster, for the first time, he saw the fear of death as he was the prey now and it just made Thar angrier as killing him would change nothing, but he still wanted to tear him apart, every part of him. Thar held what remained from its lower mouth with his left hand with his right hand held. The werewolf tried to shake him off of his body and but it was futile, Thar tore its head in half and killed it right there.

After killing he continued to maul the body of the dead werewolf as his anger was not fulfilled, it was never going to be fulfilled. He didn’t want to return to normal and face the reality of his lover was gone, split in half in front of his eyes while he couldn’t do anything other than shout and hope.

Tears swell up as he didn’t want to continue anymore, the blood sprayed everywhere and he felt that his body was burning up. He wanted to get rid of his flesh and end everything as he couldn’t bear the oppression and loss. He shouted for his loss as long as he could, he damned everything as mindlessly he beat up the dead body of the fucking monster which took everything from him.

Kaan watched the scene in front of him with a complex expression. What could he do now, he wondered? Should he go next to him and try to help him, but what could he possibly say to him, as he was not good with words, maybe silence would do the work. Maybe he should just leave as the team was obviously gone now but he didn’t want to leave him like this. Well, lucky for him that he didn’t need to know, at least for now, as all of this was just foresight.

It seemed that it was also the same with the [I See The Worst]. Even though he was watching from his own body, even though everything seemed so real, he felt like just a shell which followed a certain path without his control. Although the experience felt similar to his phantom form as he perceived visions in the place of the darkness of his mind, it was very different.

He could feel the presence of the environment but he couldn’t feel his own emotions and his thoughts felt.. restricted? Even though he perceived things from his own body it also didn’t feel like him, it was kind of weird. Another difference was when he was having foresight it was like watching the frames of a video rather than experiencing it as if he was right there like how visions felt to him.

He didn’t know why but this one was the most detailed of the foresight he ever had coming from the [I See The Worst]. As the information of a nonexistent reality appeared in his mind, he knew it had come to an end with the death of a werewolf and he waited to open his eyes in reality but where he found himself was once again the pitch darkness.

‘What is it now?”

He sighed as he looked around to see if there was anything. Then he felt a piercing cold spreading on his body from his chest. He felt his breathing get slower as a strange feeling of fear filled him, after a long time he wanted to run away because of the unknown, it was like a primal instinct of his trying to take over his mind because of…. Under these effects, he raised his head and looked somewhere precise in the pitch darkness which stretched to the unseen lengths and felt something looking at him back.

In the place where he was looking, there was nothing he could see but he could sense that there was something, someone was examining him, he strangely felt exposed as the feeling of something trying to pry into his mind sharpened every passing second.

Kaan felt himself getting angrier, as the thing persistently tried to reach into his mind. He got angry cause there was nothing he could do, he got angrier cause he didn’t want anyone to look into his mind. He didn’t even understand what exactly was happening, to be fair.

As the force increased over his mind, he shouted as he wanted to stop this stifling feeling and then suddenly the darkness began to shake excessively. The force which tried to pry into his mind disappeared in an instant as darkness bend to create a wall in front of him at his will and then created two spears from darkness and they moved towards the

In the darkness, a shade began to appear. It was wearing an elegant black cloak which connected with a white gem on its neck area and from its look, Kaan could see at least the being was humanoid in its appearance. It didn’t seem that fall and seemed to have a white mask or maybe it was its face, but Kaan was not sure. Everything he perceived could be different as the distance and darkness were not helping him in the process of evaluation.

It raised its head towards the spears made of darkness and they crashed into a wall of force in front of it. They began to delve into it but then lost their power end crumbled into the darkness where they were created.

“It is indeed a strange power you have, sorry for my behaviour the shard bearer of the old one but I had to be sure about it. You could relax, I will not try to do it again, not that it would in the first place.”

The figure said as it looked around as if it were seeing more than what Kaan could perceive in this darkness and then its eyes once again stopped on Kaan. It had a fairly normal voice but each of its words carried a strange weight on them. Kaan could mistake it as a human if it weren’t for the cold and deadly aura which, strangely, pulled you towards itself. Kaan took deep breaths as the anger faded away from his mind and the darkness began to calm down.

“What are you?”

“Does it matter if you know or if you do not, right now, the bearer? I came here because of the strangeness I sensed as I thought something was meddling with my work but it seems the system once again decided to bestow you the ability which intervened with death. Though I haven’t seen one which worked like yours before, it is even trying to deceive us now.”

It chuckled lightly but Kaan felt the anger in its tone, it was not directed at him though.

“Tell me the shard bearer, isn’t this system so strange and unfair? To know there are those who adore, idolize and even worship it while it contributed to countless deaths really makes me smile at the stupidity of them.”

“I don’t know. Why are you calling a shard bearer of… old one?”

Kaan quickly answered as he didn’t assign system attributes like good or bad and asked the question on his mind.

The figure sighed against his answer as it didn’t get to hear what it desired.

“You have much to see and I know that you have questions, but it wouldn’t be right for me to answer them, maybe in our second meeting we could talk more freely.”

As they were talking Kaan felt something else walk into the darkness and the darkness once again begin to stir. The being was a human woman who had long beautiful red hair that shined otherworldly. She had a golden crown on top of her head and didn’t cover her beautiful body with clothes.

When it turned and opened her eyes Kaan only saw emptiness where her eyes should be located in. Kaan felt eeriness as those empty eye sockets on her beautiful, emotionless face looked at him inquiringly, he felt like he sensed something… similar from her but it was so faint he couldn't understand what it was.

The darkness gathered around his body to defend him against the new intruder, even if it was just for a few seconds of looking Kaan felt brutal power which assessed him and affirmed that she was not here for him. She quickly turned her eyes towards the cloaked figure. In the darkness, at first hundreds, then thousands arrows of light appeared and aimed towards the cloaked figure moving so fast that was hard to see. But the cloaked being didn’t seem to be affected as the force wall defend him against the incoming attack which crushed the arrows.

“It looks like my little interference is already found out, it’s time for me to go now then. It was nice to see a shard bearer after a long time so let me tell you this before I go.”

The moment the cloaked figure said it the woman raised her hand and a colossal sword made of light which had golden symbols engraved on it, reaching from its hilt to the blade’s tip, appeared floating over her head. It illuminated the endless darkness; it was so pure and strong, yet it felt so empty.

She thrust it to the cloaked figure without wasting any time, considering its size it moved fast. The cloaked figure didn’t seem moved by strength radiating from the swords of light and raised its hand. When the blade fell into his figure, he grasped it with its bare hand and light began to diminish from the area he held the blade.

“You have The Mind of the four and none of the others in your world, stay alive Kaan. I would like to see what your shard will turn out to be as the others accomplished unseen things.”

When the cloaked figure finished its sentence, the arrows and sword continued to suppress him. It raised its other hand and suddenly bluish shadows covered nearly all of the darkness. In seconds both of them were engulfed by the shadows and disappeared from the darkness with their absence Kaan was sucked into the darkness and opened her eyes in the street.

When he blinked, he was once again street, looking at the undead werewolf which was emerging from the side street that was nearly thirty metres away from them.

Kaan felt that he lost the strength of his body as the cold followed him through the darkness and was nearly falling, Dean quickly reacted and supported him.

“Are you alright?”

“Yeah, thank you.”

He quickly straightened himself as the strength returned to his limbs. For now, he left thinking about this encounter he had in his mind for later and focused on the thing he got at hand. He patted the arm of Dean two times and turned his eyes towards Emily and Thar. Emily’s eyes were also on him while Thar eyed the monster after a quick glance to his side if he was okay. Like in his foresight, Emily looked a little blanched, but her eyes didn’t have any hesitation in them, they were sharp like a wicked knife.

Kaan wondered how this skill was really working as he thought the things it showed were a very, hmm, unreasonable reality. Emily’s situation was already getting better and Dean’s death in his vision was so unrealistic as Kaan thought Dean would be able to hold against the monster without much problem.

As it was said maybe it was the ‘worst’ where everything went wrong and they acted stupid, or maybe it downgraded them? Many questions and not any precise answers. Kaan sighed and looked at the monster walking towards them and quickly made his decision.

“Everyone follow me, we need to leave here, quickly. Emily, you can run, right?”

He said to the group and after Emily nodded in affirmation, he turned to the part of the street they left behind them and started to evaluate each building in his field of vision, looking for the one that they could use. After he choose one of them, he quickly began to move towards it and Dean followed him right next to him.

Thar looked at Emily if she was agreeing with Kaan and saw that she did. She was happy that someone step in to lead them as she was still trying to get used to the drawback of her skill which she was not even aware of. And Thar was okay with following Kaan from the beginning as he was the one who helped him to get them out of the mess in the cafeteria of the dormitory.

“Would you want me to carry you?”

Thar asked anxious about the state she was in.

“No, no, I’m okay Thar, don’t worry. Just need to catch my breath for a few seconds.”

She said and together they followed Kaan.

“Guys, what exactly is happening, why are we running away now, not that I’m eager to fight with that but Kaan, haven’t you dealt with the guy who had transformation ability? Wouldn’t its zombie version be easier as we only had to deal with it? Is it something more dangerous, something we can’t deal with?”

Dean asked them as they ran towards the building because everyone seemed like they had an idea about this monster appearing in front of them and he felt like he was not able to comprehend the situation fully.

“We are not running away, we are looking for a more suitable place to fight against it and we need a little time so it is better than confronting it directly. And It’s not the same with that idiot in the supermarket, it’s stronger than that guy, more deadly so be careful, one mistake can mean your life.”

Kaan answered his question calmly.

“So are we avoiding it right now?”

Dean asked even though he thought they wouldn’t leave that monster behind.

“No, we need to take out this thing… it shouldn’t continue to exist.”

Emily said with a grim face showing that death of it was a very serious matter for her.

“Also, it wouldn’t be nice if it tracked us back and attacked us when were not ready for it. It doesn’t look like it will let us go in the first place. So, it’s better that we get rid of it.”

Kaan added as they reached one of the four floors apartments in the street.

“Let me handle it.”

Thar said looking at the electric lock on the door. He raised the club in his hand and broke the lock with one hit. They walked inside and closed the door. Kaan gave one last look at the undead werewolf before closing the door. It was not following them behind, it was currently ‘playing’ with the corpse of a woman it captured yet its face covered in blood was looking at their side.

Kaan led them to the second floor quickly and stood next to the stairs to watch if there was any movement. The left side of the stairs was the wall that the stairs were connected and the right side of it was a long corridor on each floor where rooms were located. Emily and Thar leaned against the wall behind them in the corridor and Dean sat down the stairs next to Kaan.

“So, what are we doing now?”

Dean asked the group as everyone catch their breath.

“Wait a second, Dean. Before that, will you tell me what is going on with the two of you? Kaan suddenly acts he knows exactly what the situation is, you know, you seem so sure of everything and Emily, you acted strange from the moment we walked into the street.”

He added after a while as if he thought the way he asked might be too imposing.

“You don’t have to of course but it would be better for us to move according to you. You know we could if you need, I don’t know, like, anything.”

Thar was not sure what exactly their situation was, so he was not sure how to end his sentence as Kaan didn’t seem like he needed any help as for Emily, he knew she was not someone to yield too quickly and worked under hardship but seeing her suddenly got weaker out of nowhere. He wanted to know more about their situation rather than speculating in his mind.

Though the question was also directed at Kaan, Thar's eyes were focused on Emily. Kaan smiled hearing him saying those things, he wondered if he could, would help if what he needed was something dangerous. Maybe he would cause, you know, Thar looked like a straight forwards guy, true to his words. Whatever, he also wanted to know what put Emily in this state.

“It’s just a skill but I’m not hundred per cent sure with the data it gives me but it’s helpful, it lets me know certain things about the monster I’m facing with.”

Kaan answered briefly while obscuring the real nature of his skill.

“Man, you got a good skill Kaan.”

Dean commented quietly with a smile on his face, he would like to have a skill like this but it was also good to have someone who had it on the team, especially if it was Kaan.

“Mine is also a skill, it lets me… see the nature of creatures. It’s not very helpful right now.”

Emily would rather not talk about this skill but after Kaan revealed his skill without waiting, she thought it would be strange not to say anything and parry Thar’s question. There was not a big reason that she didn’t want to reveal anything but seeing the questioning look on Thar, she sighed. She knew that it would cause him to ask more as she didn’t say this to Thar. It looked like she was not going to be able to delay the much-needed talk between the two of them.

“Okay, Kaan can you tell us what you know about this monster? Let’s not waste any more time.”

She quickly changed the subject and averted her eyes from Thar’s which wanted to know more obviously.

“It’s not much faster than an average human, it’s strong but I think Thar would be able to fight with it in the strength department. It’s very deadly, it aims towards your vitals whenever it sees an opening and it doesn’t hold back and give time for you to breathe so never let your guard down until it is dead. Also, it’s already dead if you haven’t noticed so it doesn’t really care about the damage you inflict on its body as long it is fatal so be careful, it can suddenly rush towards you without caring about getting harmed, especially you, Dean.”

Kaan quickly told them what he knew, and Dean looked surprised by the sudden warning to him but nodded while noting it on his mind nevertheless as it was coming from Kaan.

“I think its vital point is its brain, so as long as we can decapitate or cause serious damage to its head, we could kill it. That’s all I have.”

“How sure you are that its head is its weak point?”

Thar asked what was on his mind.

“Kaan is right, it’s a weak point or at least the only still functioning part of it is located in its brain.“

Emily answered on behalf of Kaan.

The corridor was silent for a few seconds as everyone consumed the knowledge.

“You have a plan on your mind right, Kaan?”

Emily asked knowing that the answer would be positive as she saw him evaluating the buildings, there had to be a reason.

Kaan lightly nodded as he moved towards to centre of the corridor after telling Dean to watch the stairs on his behalf.

“You better be quick, Kaan, it started to move towards us.”

Kaan once again nodded and after giving a look at the long corridor once again turned to Emily.

“Do you have a plan in your mind captain, if you do we can follow it otherwise I’ll tell you what I’ve got.”

Kaan asked her as he wanted to hear what was going on in her mind.

“No, I don’t have one that’d make a big difference rather than facing it directly, tell us what you got on your mind.”

“Okay then, I was thinking about trapping it into the floor. Thar had to weaken one part of the floor and you had to make it fall into it by collapsing the floor, his weight combined with your power and weakened floor had to be enough. If everything goes well it would be stuck in there while Thar kept it busy Dean can cut his head off by coming behind. Dean will wait on the stairs heading to the third floor while you and Thar near the end of this floor and I will lure it closely so it would not head towards Dean.”

“What if it does not stick and falls to the first floor?”

Emily asked him, she thought the plan was good, that was if they could manage it, but it didn’t seem too hard to accomplish either.

“Its frame is large so there shouldn’t be a problem on that part and even though it falls to the first floor, it is much easier to fight with it where its movements are restricted by walls. Thar can you damage the floor?”

“I must be able to.”

He said after swinging the club on his hand towards the floor a few times to try if he was inflicting any damage.

“Okay then, let’s be quick and got ready, it’s very close to the building now.”

Emily and Dean quickly went to their position as Thar followed Kaan, Kaan chose the position but a little closer to the end of the corridor, near to Emily.

“Thar, hit the floor end don’t stop until I say you to stop, okay?”

Kaan said after they came to the position he chose and Thar nodded without saying anything. He began to hit the ground with the club in his hand. Kaan stand right next to the place he was hitting and felt the power of the impact reaching his body, Thar was really strong, more than Kaan thought he was at first.

Thar hit again and again until cracks appeared on the floor where he was hitting, he was feeling it was getting weaker and weaker with each hit. He thought that they might collapse to the ground as cracks reached his legs and he felt it was getting weaker. He looked at Kaan as he thought it was enough but he was not able to read anything from those slightly closed, hollow eyes so he averted his gaze and just followed the order he received and continued to hit.

Kaan watched as Thar hit the floor repeatedly, at the same point with precise aim. He already opened the [I See The Worst] once again and focused on the floor waiting for the signal. With every hit, the skill warned him to get away, and when the sound of the last impact resonated in his ear, the images of the ground cracking and him falling to the ground quickly filled his mind as if it had already happened. The moment the foresight played on his mind quickly informed Thar.

“Stop, it’s enough Thar, well done.”

Again, Kaan felt it was nearly impossible for him to get caught in collapse as he was aware of each crack which appeared on the floor right at the moment of the impact of Thar’s club. He was aware of the amount of power each hit contained approximately as the skill had more data about Thar, so it was able to calculate the damage on the floor. He also had instincts that came along with the skill which acted as a danger detector at close range. Considering all of this, it was very unlikely that he wouldn’t be able to react and get away before the floor collapsed, so what was this foresight showing him falling to the first floor?

Kaan was aware that the floor was not in the state to bear one or two hits from Thar now so the vision of collapsing and the timing of it was right, so rather than the environment was it changing the capability of the people? He thought it must be like that and now what was on his mind was the question of if the pieces of information he got from his skill were reliable or not. They were ‘real’ to some degree but how much fake information they contained?

“Kaan?”

Thar called out to Kaan but he didn’t say anything after they finished the job and continued to look at the floor. Kaan quickly left his thoughts and turned his eyes to Thar.

“Let’s go into our places. You be careful, okay? That werewolf is really strong and tough?”

“Don’t worry about me, you be careful there.”

Kaan gave him a smile as Thar moved to his place by moving beside the weakened part of the floor.

Kaan quickly took his place too as he waited for the monster to emerge on the stairs.
