VERSE NINE: MY NEW TEACHER
I am currently sitting opposite Jaunava, silently sipping my warm tea. It’s been a long silence since my classmates exits the room and she’s observing me intently since then. I am honestly nervous in what we will talk about. My instinct gives me this unexplainable feelings…
Jaunava: There’s no need to be nervous about. I just want to talk about your how your studies going on. And according to your report card, you’ve been doing well in your academics thought you rarely volunteer on recitations or even sleep in your class…
Oops… hehe, I’ve been caught?
Jaunava: but all in all, the result is very excellent… ONLY in academics. When in come’s to sport and physical training… you actually fail miserably. Don’t worry! You’re not the worst in our records. You’re second next to your father, Kresla. (Daina: that doesn’t really makes me feel any better.) And such, I decided to give you an alternative lesson for this. How does being a songstress sound to you?
Daina: … Sounds interesting. But head Priestess, I think, Alchemy is better than learning how to sing considering my father is a healer. If you’re worried about my future then I think I can bear being my father’s assistant. *mutters* and I think it’s a LOT interesting especially I am a researcher in my past.
Jaunava: … You have a point. But there is something your father have that you don’t. He has Force. A light attribute one that allows him to do his job. Learning how to concoct a medicine doesn’t give you the title of a healer. You are smart yet still not enough.
I just hung my head in the bitter truth she said. She is right. This is a fantasy world. Force is something you essentially need. Though I have no plan to back out just because of that, I have no choice but to accept it. It’s what I’ve been experiencing after all. And I’ve been restricted not being able to. Still, I definitely won’t give up. I live in a world where force is nonexistent. And as long you have the brain, the will and perseverance, day will come I will overcome my weaknesses. If I am not gifted with innate force, then I just have to ‘force’ my way through. Haah… Now, that’s thrilling. My mood immediately light up when I think about this. I immediately recover myself and grin at Jaunava and talk in a milder manner.

Daina: I know. But I can’t help but to try and try again… is there anything wrong with this?
Jaunava: … I am glad that you’re such a hard working girl Daina. But I also have reason why I give you this offer. If you are thinking being a songstress is just about singing, you are absolutely wrong. Let me tell you this. Songstress is a noble job given only to women who have particular traits. First, one must have pure body. This isn’t about chastity but rather about innate force. One must be empty as much as possible. Commonly, those who have lower force aptitude were given this opportunity and since you totally don’t have it, you fit perfectly.
Secondly, one must have a certain type voice. You probably don’t notice since you rarely talk but you have a captivating voice. It attracts others to listen to you. And there more to this, in fact, a lot. I won’t tell anymore, discover it yourself.
I kept pondering about her words for a moment. It is suspicious but I can tell she’s stating the truth, not all of the truth though. And her voice…
Daina: Why is the requirements for being a songstress need force inability? And not a lot seems to know about this though? I can also see you have a certain force in you. Are you trying to fool me?
Jaunava: *chuckle* You are certainly correct. It is because a songstress needs proper selection and consideration before picking a candidate. And not a lot of people is a songstress… at present there is only 8 songstresses. Well, I’ll tell you more about it if you decide to be one. I’m telling you, there is a LOT of benefits. Who knows… some of your questions may found their answers here.
Suspicious, suspicious, suspicious! No matter how I look into it, it’s just too suspicious! Even though her voice is as sweet as honey I will never be affected to it! Argh! But my curiosity is getting ahead of me!
I unknowingly nod my head to her. Jaunava smiles sweetly at my respond and heaves a sigh of relief.
Jaunava: Finally, a descent successor! From today on, you will be my disciple and I your master.
