Ch194: Shock Analysis

RYUKYUS ISLANDS SEA, OKINAWA, JAPAN

JULY 29TH

5:00 PM

We had been flying aimlessly for a while looking for the aircraft carrier USS Essex when we finally managed to see it, since the situation was extremely bad the whole fleet was in all hands on deck mode and using stealth to the max, so the twins couldn't find the coordinates where they were. When we were finally getting close Kasumi alerted us that a patrol of planes was following us from behind, probably wondering what the fuck a fucking dragon is doing in real life. Due to the fear of fire, I started to fly faster to get to a ship quickly, but the situation came to a head when Charlotte managed to establish communication and get my mother on the phone to give them the order not to shoot at me.

When I arrived at the carrier the deck was too busy for me to land on it, two planes waiting on the launchers had to hurry and take off early to make room for me. I also had to fly slowly and flap my wings a lot to confuse the automatic system of the Phalanx CIWS and not be taken for "a strange aircraft that although it is not an enemy better shoot it down just in case it was". Seeing the big white bone-like dragon approaching, the crew started to run from the runway to the lower platforms looking for shelter. I stopped right where the shuttles and the bubble shooter were, from where I could hear a couple of people screaming. My landing was so conspicuous that no one noticed the two droids, the demon, and the angel landing right next to the superstructure.

A couple of soldiers came up the stairs with guns, scared to see me, they were pointing their guns at me, scared to death. But just then Admiral Mark showed up personally to stop them. My mother shook out her clothes and combed her hair, beauty first, as she walked towards him to try to find an escape from the enormous craziness that was going on non-stop. She said it was a super classified situation and all that stuff like no one can report it and it will all come out in one of those Top Secret documents full of black tarps. When the situation calmed down a bit more I changed to my usual form, only to realize that I was now tied to my sister with the metal tape and couldn't move, so I fell down along with her.

The Admiral was full of questions and with an incredulous face, but the situation was serious and serious enough to afford to waste his time. He recovered his furious face and shouted to the entire crew to get back to work, and in a minute the aircraft carrier was back to normal operation. We did not stop either and Tamamo came to cut the ribbon to enter the ship. All the others followed her, although the twins had to continue carrying the poor Levia, as these ships are not known for their comfort or their accessibility to people with disabilities. Although some of the soldiers saw her and tried to help her to move her, what a surprise they got when they saw their weight, but they didn't say anything and went on.

Thanks to my mother's position the whole group got security access to enter the CVIC, the intelligence and threat center room, or better known as the map where the shit gets real, from where the decisions are made. From where the big battles are really won. This same table has been largely responsible for the fall of the Empire in Europe, and where we would try to go for another victory. Two extraordinary players were in our star formation, Admiral Mark and my mother joined forces once again.

A few other officers joined in as well so the room was pretty tight by the time the meeting started.

"Okay, these last few hours have been a real tragedy, but we don't have time to mourn the losses"

"The empire gave us a surprise beating and we have had to do some emergency digging"

"We don't know what is really going on"

"We have to put things in order and fast!"

"Little girls, you know what to do, the same as always"

"Make a summary of the status report, use any method to gather all available information"

"Status report for July 29th, 5:11 PM, from Joint Operation Kami No Tasuke"

"Right now Carrier Strike Group 5 is heading east trying to gain space in the area of operations to maneuver"

"Unlikely position of the fleet compromised"

"The empire does not know our exact position, but only a rough estimate"

"A confrontation between enemy forces Unavoidable"

"Simulation set up with confirmed allied and enemy units"

"Simulation completed"

"Destruction of Carrier Strike Group 5: 85%."

"Destruction or withdrawal of hostile force: 10%"

"Probability of successful escape: 5%"

"Current fleet status: Imminent Total Defeat"

"Immediate action is required to ensure the survival of personnel"

Nobody said anything, nobody reacted, the news was not good at all, but we all knew it, we were really fucked up at this point.

"All right, let's stay calm"

"We've been in similar situations before"

"It's nothing we haven't done before"

"Little robot girl, please establishes the main factors of the high probability of defeat."

"Break them down into percentages as well" Said Admiral Mark Halsey.

Both twins were a little startled to hear that he was talking to them, then they looked at my mother and seemed to be looking for help on what to do, she just waved her hand indicating that they should continue.

"There is a large concentration of enemy units"

"The enemy is currently far outstripping the Alliance's defense capabilities"

"Contributing factors to Allied defeat"

"Insurgent faction on Izema Island 5%"

"Unlikely to have many troops or medion available to deal with a standard military offensive"

"Imperial Wunderland Fleet 30%"

"Has a number of ships comparable to the Carrier Strike Group 5"

"However, Enemy Fleet has 4 operational carriers and according to reconnaissance and time elapsed it is estimated that they should be ready to attack"

"You found the 2 carriers present in our fleet"

"Major cause of possible defeat"

"Airborne Fortress 65%"

"Large airborne vehicle detected late in the vicinity of the main island, Okinawa"

"Unknown offensive capabilities"

"Defensive capability unknown"

"Maneuverability unknown"

"Action range unknown"

"Speed of displacement unknown"

"So we must decide whether to die fighting the enemy fleet"

"Or die at the hands of the huge spaceship" Said a terrified officer, his clean new uniform revealing that he was new to the carrier.

"No, it means that if we destroy the huge plane we win"

"But we need to find a way to kill it without putting our ships at risk, we have to reserve them for later use against the Wunderland fleet"

"We have to use only our planes to destroy this thing"

Said the admiral, confident and determined. As if the goddess of victory whispered the key to victory in his ear. It was daring and courageous actions like this that led him to become a hero, and the Empire's bane.

"Can you make a deeper analysis of this giant ship?" asked my mother.

"Personal notes taken by IDOL during visual contact"

"Possible speed recorded during attack 40 knots"

"Impossible physics detected, Airborne Fortress should not be able to sustain flight at such low speed and its wing surface"

"It seems to have a huge energy shield comparable to an Arksuit, AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles are not able to overcome the barrier"

"SWBM weapon usage record used once"

"SWBM weapon?"

"How do you know it was that?"

"What does it mean?"

"Concept design subtracted from Base of Operations Interstellar Mansion in Aria"

"The day dad rescued us"

"Some new notes were being entered into the database"

"One of them was an image of a notebook smudged in human handwriting, almost impossible to decipher"

"Analysis revealed it to be a type of shorthand coupled with poor handwriting by the researcher and periods of poor mental clarity"

"The few parts deciphered showed the wave frequency when traveling and the classification of Shock Wave Ballistic Missile"

"Can I see the image?" Momo asked.

"Negative, I do not have the image data stored"

"High security in the databases made it impossible to make copies of the file"

"Adding that the main priority in recording time was self-preservation"

"So the android computer doesn't know something for sure?"

"Is that possible" asked the admiral in surprise,

"So you're saying this is your first time doing a "Believe me though I don't know how to explain it" moment"

"It's called a hunch, and I like that you have one"

"It makes you look a little more human"

"I like to see that you're still making progress" I said, comforting her.

"Wait a minute!"

"You acknowledged what meant an SWBM!"

"You asked them to tell the pilots to lower altitude!"

"Some of them survived because they listened to you!"

"How did you know the weapon was ineffective at low altitude!?"

"Well that's because I knew it was a Shock Wave weapon"

"But only a small part of it"

"That's important!"

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

"Tell us what you know!"

"Tell us everything!"

"Well, I know a little bit about the weapon because Rose worked on it"

"She was imagining and creating many different weapons"

"One of them was the Shock Wave missile"

"But it never got past the conceptual stage"

"The construction of the weapon was not feasible during the war against the dragons"

"The main materials for its construction are very scarce and rare"

"So it was left behind in exchange for other more viable things"

"Do you know how it works?"

"Whatever you remember!"

"Well, I remember Rose complaining and drinking in her messy table."

"...."

"What else...."

"...."

"It would use some kind of fuel that she would spread in the air before exploding"

"And then with some kind of lighter will would blow it all together"

"Like some kind of gas volley"

"But it exploded quite sideways and wide, so it would be good against air units"

"......"

"And there was some kind of something I don't remember that didn't work with the air pressure."

"And that made it relatively safer to stay well below the blast zone"

"So it was good for allied troops in the area"

"As a kind of aerial hard reset"

"If a fuel is needed to produces an explosion it means that its radius is limited"

"So it will be preferable to use it in areas with a high density of enemy aircraft" Added Momo

"As when we were launching the attack against the fleet"

"Just at our most vulnerable moment" the admiral also said.

"Do you remember what fuel is needed?" asked the angel.

"Red mercury and a little bit of meson energy"

"Only found in the floating continent so far"

"Ummm"

"It is difficult to get the mercury to a critical mass point on its own"

"And the energy would make it reach it, maybe even surpass it"

"But its frequency would interfere with its ratio, making it consume itself extremely fast"

"Basically the explosion would contain itself because of how strong it would be"

"The critical mass is inversely proportional to the square of the density, if for the density is increased by 1 % the critical mass will be reduced by 2 %, then the volume will be reduced by 3 % and the diameter will be reduced by 1 %."

"The probability that a neutron per cm traveled collides with a nucleus is proportional to the density, it would increase in by 1%, which compensates for the fact that the distance traveled before the neutron leaves the system is 1% smaller."

"Yes for sure"

"I didn't understand anything but sure, yeah"

"I'm not a scientist okay, I can barely remember it"

"I don't know what's behind it, I don't know the numbers"

"For me, it could work with magic and birthday wishes, I don't care"

"The important thing is that it's real and it does damage"

"Basically, even if it doesn't make an atomic explosion"

"IT IS AN ATOMIC WEAPON"

"At least by definition by using Meson particle energy."

"Even if it does not produce any radiation"

"It is a complex weapon that is difficult to create and use"

"They don't want to use it much"

"So, according to the nun, what we have to do is to fly the planes at low altitude to avoid being hit by the SWBM" Said the admiral trying to understand something.

"No, but similar"

"You have to be at a certain height different from the explosion"

"If the Shock Wave weapon detonates close to the surface"

"Well, it doesn't matter if it was atomic or not, the damage will be the same"

"So why not use it against the ground base?"

"If the objective was to defeat us, it was enough to fire a second missile"

"I have no idea either"

"Any ideas Elise?"

"I don't know either"

"But in Rose's design the weapon was created exclusively as an anti-aircraft weapon"

"She didn't want the ground to be destroyed so the design included a lot of built-in safety sockets to prevent an accidental detonation on the ground"

"Even so, at least we know what special attack it is capable of doing"

"It will certainly have more traditional defensive and offensive measures"

"But there is a more important question than the Shock Wave weapon now"

"How to damage it"

"The Air Fortress seems to indicate that it has an energy shield field surrounding it"

"It makes sense, after all it's huge, it's easy to hit."

"It also appeared out of nowhere in the sky, so it must have an optical cloaking field around it"

"And if the radar didn't detect anything either, it sure has an incredible stealth mode"

"That shit is broken as Fuck" said someone else.

"There is no way you can see it, it simply requires too much energy"

"So much to use his main weapon, secondary weapons, defensive measures, shield, his optical camouflage, stealth mode, anything extra he has."

"And that's not counting whatever it is that keeps him in the air"

"Do you know of anything that makes this possible Momo?"

"Yes, of course, thousands of things"

"Now, "Humanly" possible?"

"That's very different."

"The energy fields of an Arksuit are terribly inefficient with their energy"

"Making one for that whole huge ship is a whole different thing, its own world of difficulties"

"The air fortress should not be able to produce the power it needs"

"Never mind its energy source, if it is human-produced"

"But it does not necessarily have to be the big aircraft the whole army"

"The cornerstone of an army is the collaboration between its different parts"

"Is there a supply ship that is following them everywhere?" Remark Mark.

"If so, it needs a constant flow or transmission of energy between the source and the aircraft"

"Maybe something like an energy transfer beam at best"

"It should be in a direct line, be in a straight line next to it"

"Or underneath it"

"What do you suggest Admiral?"

"The best options are the simplest ones"

"This energy source would be the Achilles heel of the ship"

"Its weakest point"

"Putting it close to him would make him an obvious target"

"You have to somehow hide it in plain sight near it"

"The airship is so damn huge and in the sky, it is impossible not to draw everyone's attention"

"But what if a ship is right below it, in the water, sending out the energy?"

"It would be a very low-priority target"

"Which would also explain why the Airborne Fortress is moving so slowly!"

"But how to destroy it?"

"We're talking about one ship under a whole army of planes!"

"If we send planes, it will use the Shock Wave weapon"

"If we send ships, the planes will sink them"

"What about submarines?"

"Does this fleet have submarines?"

"Every aircraft carrier strike group is always accompanied by submarines"

"It is a military secret"

"They accompany us secretly everywhere"

"But their action is individual, they do not answer to me"

"They must be at this moment assessing their situation too"

"They have no way of knowing of this weakness"

"Most likely they will not act because of the high risk of being sunk"

"They are not going to risk their nuclear warheads to destroy a single ship" Explained the Admiral.

"A special operations group on a fishing boat?"

"A suicide squad, you mean"

"I can do it!"

Everyone in the room saw again, it was the girl sitting in one of the chairs, the girl who could not walk, Levia had volunteered.

"You're crazy!"

"We won't send a handicapped person for something like that!" Said another officer

"No, on the contrary, it's a good idea!"

"She can swim quickly, she is relatively small"

"She could impersonate a shark swimming close to the ship and plant explosives in the very bottom of the hull"

"It would be sunk in a single stroke!" I was voting for her.

"Levia, do you really see yourself capable of doing it?" asked my mother.

"I have already swum near boats before"

"If you explain to me how to use these explosives I could do it easily"

"Once the ship is destroyed, some of its functions should be deactivated"

"The first would be the one that consumes the most energy, in this case the shield"

"And the planes would be able to attack finally" Said the angel.

"Even so, the competition will be fierce"

"We will need all the pilots we can get for the operation"

"One will be able to count on support as we will have to save our strength for the fight that will come after that" Mark stressed that it would not be an easy mission even with the lost shield.

"Then the plan would be to first sink the possible energy ship"

"After that engage the Airborne Fortress in combat and destroy it"

"And only until then fight the Wunderland Fleet"

"Finally try to hunt down the insurgents"

"Dammit, I'm supposed to be on vacation!"

"Charlotte can you create a more detailed plan with the new inputs please?"

"Order accepted"

"Processing"

"Process complete"

"Newly identified Airborne Fortress is the third Airborne Fortress type-class ship identified to the Alliance"

"Exact class unknown, creating new identification"

"Temporary name to new super aircraft class"

"Airborne Fortress Dandelion"

"Possible goal of Dandelion: Total destruction of Carrier Strike Group 5"

"Possible mission completion time: 19 hours based on estimated rate of travel, including diversion around Okinawa Island"

"Ground reports indicate that the Marine base at Futenma is under attack by a separate air force at Dandelion"

"Possibility of Wunderland Fleet Air Wing: 90%."

"Reported sighting of insurgent ships north of Okinawa Island"

"Possible attempt to distract Kadena Air Base with a ground attack"

"Simulating combat with new updated parameters"

"Simulation Completed"

"Chance of victory: 45%"

"I don't like to see a lot of red on maps"

"At least the percentage went up something"

"We're going all in on this play, guys"

"The people on the Islands are waiting for our help, we must rescue them"

"Even if the odds are low, we have to do it, it's our duty"

"According to the robot girl, we have 19 hours before they reach us"

"We must make the most of them and use them wisely"

"We will attack at dawn!"

"So we have 11 hours."

"Prepare your planes thoroughly, and make sure all your equipment is in good condition"

"Rest and eat well"

"Also make peace or whatever you think is necessary to complete before the deadline"

"This is war! Remember that!"

Admiral Mark Halsey said in a powerful voice, projecting bravery and leadership, the crew in the room responded with a loud "Yes sir" that was heard throughout the ship, and everyone ran to different parts of the ship to get ready. Adelis and the other girls were taken to a part of the ship to rest a little. But I couldn't sit and watch others do all the work, not with my family at stake, so I had to do something, something really stupid as usual.
