Chapter 168: The End of the World (3)

Chapter 168: The End of the World (3)

Contemplating his solo victory against two 4th Steps, Chino’s confidence swelled.

This overconfidence led to his underestimation of Zero and others, resulting in his defeat.

Having learned his lesson, Chino wouldn't underestimate any opponent, even past adversaries.

Chino anticipated Ye Long’s considerable strength; he couldn't completely overpower him.

Thus, the petrification tactic was the most reliable.

After all, he’d traded souls for The Book of Death; he needed to maximize its value.

The book was rented; he had to return it eventually.

Ye Long was indeed stronger, but not beyond Chino’s expectations.

With Ye Long petrified, Chino clenched his fist, focusing his power using the Tiger and Ox stones, reducing the statue to dust!

He dispersed the dust with a flick of his wrist.

“Lord Aurora, I’ve killed a fellow 4th Step Dragon. Have I met the evolution criteria?”

Chino’s voice echoed; there was no reply.

Chino turned and found himself in a dark rift.

Countless threads converged, forming a thick web.

A nearly perfectly white humanoid figure, devoid of clothing, lay upon the web.

She lazily regarded Chino; with a gesture, a massive hand emerged from the darkness.

Chino knelt, “Lord Aurora, meeting you again fills me with awe!”

“Oh.”

Mei’s casual reply made Chino swallow nervously.

What was her plan this time?

Unpredictable.

Mei always appeared differently.

But Chino had never seen Mei so apathetic; she seemed unconcerned by Chino’s victory.

“Because I saw it.”

Mei seemed to read Chino’s mind; she answered his unspoken question.

Yes, Mei had foreseen Chino’s victory.

She’d seen countless futures; Chino always won.

In seventeen thousand futures, Ye Long never won.

No variables; boring.

This was the drawback of foresight; Mei anticipated every outcome.

Experiencing one future firsthand revealed its monotony.

Reading a book required effort, deduction.

Now, the answers were laid bare; the thrill was gone.

So, Mei temporarily suppressed her foresight.

A life where you know everything without effort is boring.

She eagerly awaited her future ‘opponent.’

If she’d already foreseen his end, she’d contact him, telling him to prepare and return later.

Back to the matter at hand: rewards.

Mei favored some of her initial creations.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have appeared before Chino.

Her appearance was to reveal a secret.

“Listen closely; even after consuming the potion, your chances of victory remain slim.”

Chino looked up, “You mean, even with the potion, I can’t defeat all 4th Steps?”

“No.”

Mei’s eyes gleamed, “Not all 4th Steps. In the seventeen thousand futures I’ve seen, you only win once.”

Only once?

“That’s fine. As long as it’s not zero; even a 1%, 0.1%, or 0.01% chance still exists.”

Chino wasn’t discouraged; he was optimistic.

In probability, zero doesn’t exist; any chance, however small, could happen.

Mei smiled at Chino’s optimism.

Her laughter was strange; no one knew what amused her.

“It’s best you think this way. But aren’t you curious who could make you fail seventeen thousand times?”

Chino paused, several names flashing through his mind, but he didn’t speak.

“I am, but I doubt you’ll tell me.”

“You’re right; I won’t.”

“I just thought it would be interesting to mention.”

Clearly, Mei’s old habits had returned.

Her twisted sense of humor was unfamiliar to Chino.

“Thank you for telling me this. Even if I fail, it will be easier to accept.”

Chino looked at the three potions, “Lord Aurora…”

“Yes.”

Mei read his mind; Chino wondered if the potion choice affected his chances of failure.

Mei answered directly: yes.

Only one potion offered that slight chance of victory.

But which one…?

Mei’s voice echoed.

“You’ll choose the one on the right.”

Chino: “…”

Sigh…

Our suffering.

Chino hesitated, when Mei yawned.

“You’ll choose the one on the right.”

Chino paused; he’d planned to choose the right one, but he was still considering.

“This time, you’ll choose the middle one.”

“Why do you think?”

“Because I told you you’d choose the right one; that creates a different future where you choose the middle one.”

“But because I said that, another future emerges where you’ll choose the left one.”

Chino’s mind froze.

He understood Yuan Fan’s feelings; being manipulated felt powerless…

Chino had never considered foresight so terrifying!

Your every move was anticipated.

Mei’s abilities were even more astounding than Chino imagined; she was approaching omniscience.

Omniscience, however, was still a distance away.

Though Mei claimed to have stopped using foresight, she’d foreseen this.

Suddenly, Chino had an idea!

What if he didn’t follow Mei’s predictions, but chose an unexpected path?

Giving the potion to someone else—his brother!

Mei chuckled, “But what if that’s also within my foresight?”

“I…”

“Let me think about it.”

Chino needed time to consider.

“If, after my evolution, I still can’t win, and my opponent isn’t a 4th Step…”

A 5th Step?

Who could reach 5th Step?

“Angel, Queen Bee, The Vermin, possibly.”

Those three were 4th Step; excluding the Dragon and Shino, they had the highest chance of reaching 5th Step.

But…

Another possibility.

Shino.

No, Chino shook his head; he wouldn’t suspect his brother.

Queen Bee, a mid-4th Step, was currently the strongest?

Chino couldn’t guess who Mei was referring to.

Even if Chino reached 5th Step after drinking the potion, he shouldn’t be completely powerless against a 5th Step.

But Mei said he only won once; that was strange.

Perhaps…

“Drinking the potion won’t make me a 5th Step?”

Or, only one potion could make him a 5th Step, but he could only choose it once?

Too many possibilities.

Without specific guidance from Mei, Chino couldn’t guess.

“A gamble?”

“No, I can’t gamble.”

Gambling was likely a future Mei had foreseen.

And that future might be one of complete failure.

Chino pondered for a long time, considering hundreds of scenarios and strategies.

But given Mei’s foresight, all his plans were flawed.

Then, Chino had an epiphany.

“If I can’t determine the correct path, why not change direction?”

“Instead of focusing on winning, what if I use the paths to failure as a starting point?”

Using the many futures as a strategy might be a way out.

Since Mei had foreseen his defeat, what if Chino followed those foreseen failures?

Chino picked up a potion.

“Aurora, I’ve chosen.”

Mei’s silence indicated that a change had occurred in the distant future.

The future was a road; every significant choice created a new branch.

These branches multiplied, forming a tree of time.

But Mei didn’t look at the new future; she wanted to maintain some mystery.

Unexpected changes were more interesting.

Chino chose the Leviathan Vespa’s massive growth serum.

The other two were his own serums.

Fish-Man serum evolutions. Mei had renamed it Ocean serum.

“Chosen?”

“Yes, Lord Aurora.”

“No second thoughts?”

“Thank you for your consideration, but I’ve thought long enough.”

Mei knew he was lying; he hadn’t considered which potion to choose.

He’d chosen randomly; Mei wasn’t fooled.

Mei had heard Chino’s thoughts.

His idea was interesting and aligned with some of Mei’s foreseen futures.

The problem was, with this choice, Chino would lose.

Mei hadn’t seen a single future where he won with this potion.

From the moment he chose it, he’d lost.

Mei had planned this, until she read Chino’s altered thoughts.

“Use their strategy… follow the future?”

“Interesting.”

...

Back on the Other Shore island.

Chino swallowed the potion and vial whole.

The vial shattered within him; the potion’s power surged!

His body expanded uncontrollably!

His body elongated; tendrils thrashed; even after exceeding one thousand meters, it didn't stop!

Chino’s growth ceased at nearly four thousand meters.

Six massive arms plunged into the sea; the island seemed tiny before him!

The island’s longest length was 760 km; Chino was five times larger!

However…

Chino extended a massive arm, “I didn’t reach 5th Step; my life essence didn’t evolve.”

Without an evolution in life essence, Chino remained 4th Step.

The potion had perfected him at this stage—high 4th Step, but that’s all.

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

Chino had anticipated this; 5th Step was legendary; reaching it from 4th Step wasn't easy.

Unless using a powerful potion.

Like Mei, using a future chapter as a potion, directly reaching 5th Step, then 6th Step.

But the six chapters were unique; Mei couldn't replicate them.

Because the future’s essence was unique; splitting it merely divided the essence, not copying it.

Reaching 5th Step, or even 6th Step, required Mei's experimentation.

If she’d created many 5th and 6th Steps, materials from them would easily advance Chino.

Currently, the best material was Mei herself; she hadn’t used herself as a component.

Using 4th and 3rd Step materials, Chino could only reach high 4th Step.

“The exact strength of 5th Steps is uncertain; even among 4th Steps, there’s no standard for individual power.”

“Gaging a 5th Step’s strength is pointless; it’s still…”

Chino contacted Shino.

“The Dragon is dead.”

“And your evolution?”

“Yes, but not to 5th Step; I’m only high 4th Step.”

“That’s enough.”

“No, it isn’t.”

“According to Lord Aurora, an opponent exists who can completely crush me, even at high 4th Step.”

“What?”

“I find it unbelievable; Aurora enjoys games, but she wouldn’t be frivolous.”

Theoretically…

“This time, we’ve failed.”

In Asia, Shino, attracting other monsters, pondered.

“If it’s true, what can you do?”

Chino’s voice, “There’s a method, though not really a method.”

“What method?”

“I kill you, get another potion. I have a 30% chance of reaching 5th Step, but that’s likely within Lord Aurora’s foresight.”

“I might fail to kill you; or even after drinking the potion, I might not reach 4th Step.”

“Or I might reach 5th Step, but still lose to him.”

This was troubling; Chino even considered killing Shino to obtain another potion.

Shino couldn’t imagine how strong Chino’s opponent was.

“Who is he?”

“I don’t know.”

“But I need another potion.”

“Fine, kill me.” Shino said coldly.

He owed his life to Chino; the potion he’d consumed was Chino’s.

Returning it was fine.

“You might be wrong, brother.”

“Even if I reach 5th Step, I’ll still lose; the probability is too low. I won’t gamble.”

Shino was puzzled, “Then why another potion? To kill another 4th Step?”

Across the ocean, Chino shook his head, “Same. That’s not the solution. By ‘another potion,’ I mean you kill me.”

What?

Shino’s mind froze; this felt like Chino facing Mei.

Unfathomable.

“You kill me; trade my life for a potion from Lord Aurora.”

“I know you’re confused, but I said my chances are near zero.”

“But that’s me, not you.”

“Lord Aurora said I win only once in seventeen thousand futures; she didn’t say the same for you. Understand?”

“We aren’t one; we are individuals; our futures differ.”

“This is a strategy; I just thought of it.”

“I initially thought that since my chances are less than one in ten thousand, I’d simply lose.”

“Old Ones are immortal; our deaths are merely a form of sealing. I retreat; you get a potion without fighting.”

“Then we eliminate Queen Bee together for another potion; it's not guaranteed, so it’s a backup plan; there’s no rush to kill Queen Bee.”

“The key is that we end up as high 4th Steps; if you reach 5th Step, even better.”

“If the opponent is too strong, even for you, then retreat. Remember, we’re immortal; they aren’t.”

Shino understood Chino’s plan.

This was a relatively safe strategy, though it risked exploiting a loophole.

Chino, being immortal, would provide Shino with a kill, obtaining a potion from Mei.

But this could only happen once; if Mei detected the loophole, she’d change the rules.

Or, Mei might simply erase Shino’s kill.

But that was fine; Chino’s plan was to jointly eliminate Queen Bee.

This wasn’t exploiting a loophole; they’d receive the appropriate reward.

If they failed, and Mei didn’t acknowledge their kills, they’d try again. As Old Ones, their chances of victory were slim; they could try again later.

This was Chino’s “step back” strategy.

Shino admired Chino; though not perfect, the plan was highly feasible.

Their goal wasn’t ultimate victory, but to gain an advantage before retreating.

Anything gained was a bonus; nothing lost.

“Brother, remember, act convincingly. Believe you want to kill me; I’ll believe I want to kill you.”

If both truly fought, Mei, even if she knew their plan, would likely accept the outcome.

At this point, the identity of Chino’s seemingly unbeatable opponent was irrelevant.

...

Know why Mei calls it the Crack Space?

Because, upon becoming Death, she discovered the world was composed of two parts.

A spiritual world and a material world, overlapping to form a complete world.

The Crack Space lies between these two worlds, at their boundary.

The material world is the visible world.

The spiritual world is perceptible only to souls.

This represents life and death; the Crack Space exists in the gap. It didn’t exist originally.

Death’s appearance created the Crack Space.

On the other side of the rift, the spiritual world.

Normally, after death, lacking a physical vessel, souls depart for the spiritual world.

But Ye Long’s soul wasn’t there.

He was in a place separate from the spiritual world.

There, a long staircase led to a white-haired man sitting, stroking a black dragon.

“Your only regret is not taking the path I offered.”

“Forget the past; there would be no present. It all boils down to emotion.”

“Joy, anger, sorrow, longing, fear, surprise; humans are driven by emotion. And you lost because of it.”

Ye Long sat in the darkness, clutching sand, “If I were emotionless like you, I wouldn’t be me; I wouldn’t be human.”

The man on the stairs turned, “I’m not emotionless; I’ve just lived too long…”

“So long that I’ve forgotten what time is. Time weakens everything.”

“It’s quiet here; deathly quiet. Only your arrival breaks the silence.”

“And every time I see you, I remember a horrific past.”

But Ye Long wasn’t interested; he thought about the past.

“If I’d surrendered, cooperated with the Sea King, my relationship with my mother would’ve been revealed; I’d be at his mercy.”

“Then I’d be killed; he’d use my mother’s life to control me. Resistance was pointless.”

“If I remained silent, he wouldn’t know my identity, and wouldn’t find my mother.”

“But a Fish-Man recognized me in the desert.”

“I could only pray Chino wouldn’t discover my secret.”

“But he did; no matter what I did, it was futile.”

“He could kill Fish-Men with a thought; I could never save people fast enough.”

“At least he let me die knowing.”

Ye Long said; the man’s eyes gleamed.

“You felt helpless because you cared about her.”

“If you didn’t care, the Sea King wouldn’t have used her.”

Ye Long stood, “That’s right. You wouldn’t care.”

He claimed he was my past life, a king who wielded a rebellious blade.

He was born in a magical age, a world shattered and destroyed eons ago.

A power called ‘Entropy’ pulled him from oblivion, from the nothingness beyond.

He was like a fragmented piece of information, an ancient, time-worn fragment.

He said Entropy was a chaotic force of boundless growth, its existence capable of easily breaking the laws of conservation of energy and matter.

More simply, Entropy could locate lost objects and draw them into the present world.

Or perhaps, it could create things out of nothing.

But somewhere, a mistake occurred. An awakened ancient consciousness, he couldn't fully manifest in this world.

Perhaps his power was too great, exceeding the known world's capacity, rendering the world unable to accept his presence.

Alternatively, Entropy might have been overconfident, believing it could awaken this ancient god, but its power was ultimately insufficient.

Turning towards the departing dark Ye Long, the white-haired man on the steps shifted his posture. "Where are you going?"

Ye Long, without turning, replied: "That world is guiding me, I am to be reborn."

"Sooner rather than later."

Ye Long, confused by the white-haired man's words, asked, "What do you mean?"

"Your Dragon Body wasn't naturally given; I provided it. You can understand that as a form of energy, and I reshaped that energy into its current form." The white-haired man explained.

“The power of that Dragon Body, it seems you haven't yet experienced it fully.”

“You saw those undying monsters. Their undying nature stems from never encountering something that can kill them.”

“Nothing in this world is truly immortal, unless it never existed in this world to begin with.”

“And those so-called Great Old Ones? The word ‘undying’ certainly doesn't apply to them.”

Ye Long turned back, “So, my Dragon Body is immortal?”

The white-haired man shook his head. “Didn’t I just say there’s nothing truly immortal in this world?”

“But your Dragon Body isn't easily killed.”

“Bound to the world's fundamental power and the world's inherent stability, as long as the world endures, a new Dragon Body can be recreated.”

The world endures?

“What world are you referring to?”

“Limited to the Solar System.”

“The Solar System is the world?”

“Only to you.”

“The Solar System is your world. Outside the Solar System, that doesn't fall within your definition of the world.”

“In other words, if the Solar System remains, I remain?”

“If the Solar System is destroyed, I will die?”

“That’s the wonder of the World Core.” The white-haired man said, the black dragon beside him proudly puffed out its chest.

Ye Long felt a surge of respect. “Then when can I truly survive?”

The white-haired man said, “A very long time.”

“The stronger the Dragon Body, the slower the world's restoration.”

So that's how it is.

“I remember you mentioned Fateline before. Is my Fateline severed now?”

The white-haired man nodded. “Yes, severed.”

Ye Long looked at his current spirit form, somewhat confused. “Then why am I not dead?”

“Why aren't you dead?” The white-haired man looked at him, equally puzzled.

“Aren't you already dead?”

“Resurrection after death and your death are two different things, not mutually exclusive.”

“Most deaths are only physical, not necessarily a burial of the soul.”

“Of course, direct attacks on the soul are an exception.”

“So that's it…” Ye Long mused.

“But I have a question. Why each time I see you, do I feel my memories becoming slightly hazy? Or perhaps, it's like I'm forgetting things.”

“What did you do to me?”

Facing Ye Long’s accusation, the white-haired man chuckled softly. “Repeated physical death and several soul separations inevitably lead to some degree of wear and tear.”

Though his explanation made sense, Ye Long felt something was amiss.

Each time he saw this man who claimed to be his past life, his spirit and consciousness subtly changed.

Initially, these changes were subtle, until now, when Ye Long clearly felt a decrease in his emotions.

Of course, his words could explain this situation.

Just like a depleted soul, the loss of some memories and emotions seemed natural.

“Since my resurrection is still some time away, why don't you tell me your story? I'm interested in hearing it now.”

“Ozzo.”

From the beginning, this was how they addressed Ye Long.

They all consistently called him Ozzo, not Ye Long.

That must have been Ye Long’s past life's name.

“Everyone once called me the Dragon Emperor.”

“And then?”

“I don’t remember.”

“Ah?”

Ye Long looked at Ozzo with a strange expression. This guy didn't seem to genuinely not remember; it felt more like he deliberately didn't want to say.

After all, he'd previously told Ye Long that each time he saw him, it triggered a terrifying memory.

So, was it actually because it was too terrifying that he didn't want to talk about it?

Seeing Ye Long's questioning expression, Ozzo looked into the distance. “That’s not something you need to concern yourself with. You only need to know that many ancient powerful beings have been awakened by Entropy.”

“Not only those buried in the previous world, but also in this world, and worlds even older than the previous one.”

Ye Long sat cross-legged on the ground. “So what’s its goal? To continuously awaken these so-called ancient beings, achieving Entropy’s goal of growth?”

“No.”

“Its goal is quite clear. It seeks something specific.”

“What?”

“Unclear, but definitely related to Death.” Ozzo said.

“Just like you being reborn on Earth. This wasn't predetermined. It knew those two things were here, so it caused you to be born here.”

Ye Long said: “What would happen if this so-called Entropy obtained the other two things?”

“Uncertain.”

“What can you confirm?”

“The only thing I can confirm is that you must prepare to confront ‘Entropy.’”

“Why me?”

“Because you’re already bound to Death’s chariot. You drank the potion, and underwent the transformation of that power.”

“And this world's essence is linked to you. If Entropy, after obtaining that object, seeks to destroy the Solar System, you must fight it.”

Logically, that’s the case, but…

“If you were created by Entropy, wouldn't Entropy be able to control you? Or perhaps, control all of us?”

Ozzo shook his head. “Entropy’s power is inherently an unstoppable chaotic growth. It can't control the beings it awakens, but some of those awakened willingly obey its commands.”

“Why?”

“To fulfill the Supreme Command.”

“All those awakened by it have this information implanted in their minds.”

“Just as when you drank the potion, a sense of awe and fear towards the creator arose in your mind.”

“What is the Supreme Command?”

“The destruction of everything.”

“What's the meaning of that?”

“To shatter the chaotic, disordered old world and create a new world with perfect order.”

“Then why aren't you participating in creating this new world?”

“No.”

“Why?”

“Because whether it’s the old world or the new, it’s all the same.”

Regarding the old and new worlds, in Ozzo's words, no matter how the world changes, it remains essentially the same.

A perfect order is impossible.

Someone feels the current order is flawed, so they overthrow the ruler, become the ruler themselves, and establish a new order.

They succeed, establish a new order, and someone else feels that order is flawed, overthrowing it in turn.

This cycle repeats endlessly, never reaching a conclusion.

Therefore, Ozzo repeatedly emphasized to Ye Long that the immediate enemy isn't the true enemy; the real enemy is yet to come.

For Entropy, which seeks the destruction of all, it is the ultimate enemy of all life.

However, judging by the current situation on Earth, if Entropy doesn't act prematurely, Ozzo feels this conflict will produce something quite remarkable.

If things play out as he expects, then Entropy has truly stumbled into a trap.

“Entropy's initial purpose in placing you here was to have you cause chaos first, disrupt Death's evolutionary rhythm for life, and buy itself time.”

“But its choice to have me cause that chaos was a mistake.”

...

Mei discovered Entropy a long time ago.

It's worth noting that Entropy also discovered Mei.

But its arrival is still a considerable distance away.

Everything is merely a projected future outcome. Mei currently considers the other party an opponent.

After all, possessing the power of six Great Chapters, it shouldn't be weak.

Except, of course, for the one possessing the Future Diary.

However, this isn't entirely his fault. Strictly speaking, the Future Diary isn't a complete Future Chapter.

It lacks a crucial part: the ability to return to the past and alter the future.

This missing part isn't located anywhere in the world; it resides within 079.

Mei previously mentioned that 079's material originates from himself.

Not his present self, but his future self.

Because his future self fragmented the Future Chapter's power, giving the main part to 079, to be brought back to the past.

And 079 used this ability to reverse time and return to the past.

But why did future Mei do this?

Mei speculates that future Mei also received 079 sent to her from her own future.

To ensure historical accuracy and continuity, and to complete a temporal loop, Mei now intends to take the future power from 079 and kill it.

Then, waiting for the process to reach a precise point in time, she'll split that power, creating a new 079.

Then she'll bring the new 079 from the present to the past, thus completing the loop.

But why do this?

Perhaps only the first Mei knows.

“Splitting the future power, yet continuously sending it to the past…”

“That means 079 can only exist within this timeframe. Once it exceeds this timeframe, it will be sent back to the past, repeating endlessly.”

“In this way, 079 is trapped within a temporal loop.”

“But more accurately, it’s this half of the Future Chapter power that’s trapped in this temporal loop.”

“The key is, once I upgrade the Future Diary to the sixth rank, I’ll detect this.”

“Then I'll retrieve the other half of the future power within 079, obtaining the complete power of the future.”

“And this complete future power will only be split again when I create a serial number that reaches 079.”

Why keep 079 within this fixed temporal loop?

Is it to allow Mei to obtain the complete future power within this timeframe?

And what will she do with the complete future power?

Mei can currently reset the Solar System, reversing it to a specific point in time, but cannot reverse her own time.

Also, this reversal only affects one area. Theoretically, time outside the Solar System isn't reversed.

A spaceship projected to arrive at Earth in 30 days remains unaffected by Earth's time reversal; it simply arrives 29 days later.

But the complete future power allows for true temporal regression.

And it's the kind that can alter the future.

“Altering the future… I think I understand.”

Mei suddenly understood. Originally, only she possessed the evolution-defying warmth.

The complete future was in someone else's hands, but Mei somehow obtained it.

However, she likely paid a heavy price; the defying warmth might have shattered or been lost during a battle.

Or perhaps it was due to other reasons.

Mei believes the one who held the complete future is responsible for this problem.

Therefore, to regain the defying warmth, or something else, she needs to alter the past to compensate for the present.

Future Mei split the future power, sending it to the past.

A Future Chapter simultaneously influences the future; only one portion can exist at any given time.

Since 079 returned to the past, the past future power was split, with half residing in 079.

The original wielder of the Future Chapter already lost the complete future power.

Then, as long as Mei repeats the action at each time point, the Future Diary remains perpetually split.

All pasts are distorted, and the future naturally changes.

The future power is in 079, and 079 only obeys Mei, effectively locking the Future Diary for Mei.

She's guaranteed to obtain the Future Diary, and the original holder poses no threat.

Of course, this is just a hypothesis.

After all, if the future truly enters a state of stable cyclical repetition, the original future becomes unverifiable.

But judging from the fact that no one currently threatens Mei, this cycle seems to be the correct choice.

Beyond this, Mei considers another possibility.

Entropy's arrival.

Perhaps this complete future power is preparation for the upcoming confrontation with Entropy.

If she doesn't win, she can return to the past and alter the outcome.

But regarding Entropy…

“It's estimated to arrive in about twenty years. Isn’t that a little too long?”

Twenty years. Mei feels she could find a shortcut to the 7th Step of godhood within that time. Does she really need the complete future power?

Well, Mei doesn't know the specifics, and her past selves likely wouldn't either.

“We can put Entropy and the future on hold for now. We’ll address that later. Let’s focus on the immediate situation.”

Mei didn't reveal everything about Chino's fate.

She said Chino would lose over 17,000 times, but he actually lost nearly 20,000 times.

Three thousand of those losses were to his brother, which Mei knew was pre-arranged.

They wanted to play a little trick, and Mei gave them a chance.

But only this once.

After all, they likely wouldn't expect that after this great battle…

The Dreamland will descend.
