Chapter 10: The II+

Chapter 10: The II+

In Mei's cafe, Lam was diligently cleaning the bowls when suddenly, the young girl Raven and Chino burst in, urgently etched on their faces.

"Hurry! We need to call Master Aurora! 002 is in critical condition!"

Lam was taken back by the sight, quickly moving forward to assess the situation.

"What happened? How is this even possible?"

Chino bore the grim evidence of his injury – a crowbar lodged in his chest, his body marred by wounds, his breaths shallow and faint.

"Who could have inflicted such damage on 002?"

"We'll discuss that later. Right now, focus on taking care of him. I'll go find Master Aurora!"

With those words, Raven transformed into her raven form and soared towards the second floor.

"At this time, Master Aurora is most likely sleeping, but Chino is about to..." Raven exclaimed anxiously, "Damn it, that idiot! If I get scolded by Master Aurora because of him, I will definitely have to eat a whole fish feast!"

Raven flew into the room through the window, only to find Mei holding a potion and constantly shaking it.

"Master!" She called out urgently.

Mei turned her head, "002?"

Raven was momentarily stunned. "Master, you already know?"

"Go, I'll go see 002 first," Mei said, changing her clothes quickly. She went downstairs and was immediately met with the sight of Chino, covered in blood and with a crowbar sticking out of his chest.

He can't be seen like this by the police station across the street, Mei thought, glancing towards the station. Fortunately, it was night.

"Huh?" At that moment, a group of policemen suddenly rushed out of the police station, looking very concerned.

But instead of heading towards Mei's Cafe, they ran to the police car. A group of officers piled in, stepped on the accelerator, and sped away.

This is... weird? Mei shook her head. Let it go, saving this guy is more important.

Mei squatted down beside Chino, who had already lost consciousness. His breathing was so weak that she wasn't sure if he could be saved. She opened the potion and began pouring it down Chino's throat.

Gulp. Gulp.

The bottle emptied quickly. As the liquid entered his stomach, Chino's body began to convulse violently.

"Aaaah... Aaaah!" Chino's eyes suddenly widened as his limbs first expanded, then contracted. His stomach swelled to the extreme, nearly inflating like a balloon, before deflating just as quickly.

Without hesitation, Chino raised his hand and grabbed the crowbar embedded in his chest, "Aaaah... Aaaah ah!"

Poof! Fresh blood spurted out as Chino yanked the crowbar out himself. His chest muscles twisted together, and the bleeding stopped rapidly.

"Ho.... Ho... Ho...." Chino panted heavily, his body beginning to stabilize.

This potion section primarily contains two things: Queen Bee's blood and Fish-Man's black toothfish. But to help Chino recover from his injury, Mei decided to use another potion.

"Go, drag him inside."

Raven nodded, transforming her arm into a muscular limb, and effortlessly pulled Chino into the warehouse.

"005, clean up the cafe."

Lam nodded and picked up a mop to clean the blood.

Mei went to the counter and made herself a cup of instant coffee.

"...002's injuries were probably not caused by a gun," she said, taking a sip.

Lam, while wiping the floor, replied, "Yes, 002's injuries were obviously caused by someone using their fists to hit him."

"Fists..." Mei's eyes narrowed, "Fish-Man's body is physically two times stronger than a normal person's, and in water, it can reach three times more."

"Even if Tyson were to come, it would be impossible to beat him like this."

"It seems the opponent is not simple," Mei said, suddenly recalling the young man she had met that morning.

"Could it be him?"

"Two possibilities..." Mei mused, "The first is that the teenager himself has some kind of special abilities. The second is that there are many people with supernatural powers in this world that I have yet to encounter."

As Mei pondered, Raven flew out of the warehouse.

"Master, the failure of this mission cannot be blamed solely on 002. He may be rude, disdainful, and disdainuous, but the root cause of this failure lies elsewhere."

Mei took a sip of her coffee and said, "Speak slowly. Tell me the truth of the incident."

Raven nodded, "Yes, the teenager was inside a school. I continuously destroyed surveillance cameras so 002 could easily approach the target. However, the target seemed prepared. When we reached his bedroom, he jumped out the window."

"But 002 still managed to catch up with him. At that moment, the target displayed speed and reaction abilities beyond those of a normal person. Furthermore, the target seemed familiar with 002, he appeared to have extensive knowledge of 002's abilities and had already formulated a response strategy."

"For example, he covered his ears to resist 002's cries, preventing 002 from determining his location immediately. He ran away multiple times and hid in the teaching building, masking the sound of his footsteps."

"I located the target early, but when he saw me, he appeared in the same posture as when he faced 002. He even called me 'The Imitator' along with my symbol, 001. But during the mission, I did not reveal my human form or display any abilities, yet the target did not hesitate to confirm my identity. This is very strange."

Mei's eyes narrowed, "So, the target not only knew about 002's abilities but also about yours and your designation. This means we are dealing with someone who has extensive knowledge about us, possibly more than we anticipated."

Raven nodded again, "Yes, Master. It seems we are up against someone who has been studying us closely and is well-prepared."

Mei sobbed, taking another sip of her coffee, "We need to be more cautious. This teenager might be the key to uncovering who else knows about us and how much they know. We must gather more information before making our next move."

"To be fair, I was also surprised at the time. I didn't dare attack the target so casually," Raven began, "I originally intended to inform 002 to retreat, but 002 thought he could take down the target, so he chose to continue with the mission."

"And then 002 was ambushed by the target. He was caught off guard, and the target pinned him down, attacking 002's head with brutal force. Forgive me for being blunt, but that human is absolutely not normal. He can even break iron with his bare hands."

Mei drank her coffee in one gulp. "Very interesting. During the day, I felt that there was something about that teenager that was attracting me..."

"001, once 002 recovers, find a way to record that boy. Then bring it back to me. I want to see what secrets he really hides."

Raven nodded. "Understood, Master. I'll make sure we gather the necessary information."

...

The next day, Chino sat up in the warehouse, fully recovered and back in his human form. His wounds had completely healed. At that moment, a girl in a black long dress appeared before him.

"Recovery is not bad. Congratulations, welcome to your second evolution."

"Second Evolution?" Chino looked at his hands. "There is indeed a different feeling—stronger... even closer, closer to perfection."

"It was Lord Aurora who saved me?"

Raven smiled, "Who else but Master Aurora could save you?"

Chino clenched his fist, "That's right. I thought I was dead for sure... Yesterday, I underestimated my enemy, but there will be no next time."

Raven shook her head, "It's too early to be making flag like that."

"Master Aurora has ordered us to find that boy again. This time, I need to record the whole process, not for anything else, just to observe the boy's abilities. You shouldn't be on the verge of death anymore. Master Aurora specifically advised that the mission is secondary; your safety comes first."

Chino's eyes narrowed, "The same mistake, I won't make it twice."
