My body is burning, it feel like tens of thousands of bugs are biting my inside. Slowly traveling from my back to my legs, then my hand and finally my head. Yet, as strange as it could seem, it doesn’t feel soo bad.

In fact, this is actually quite comfortable… What a pleasant sensation. Every place bitten feel revigorated and is filled with strength and vigor. It feels like my previous weak body is slowly transforming… Becoming stronger and stronger.

It was only after this wonderful sensation was over that I finally woke up. I felt like I was conscious in a dream, yet unable to move or think… Just like waking up in the morning during a cold winter day and being unable to leave one’s bed brimming with warm.

Opening my eyes, I felt like everything that happened until now was just a dream. The truck, the cave, and the dragon… It was like nothing had ever happened.

But, if it all was just a dream, then why am I now in a forest? Rubbing my eyes for a moment, I quickly realized my mistake. I wasn’t in a forest, but in what looked like a field. The impression I had from viewing the vegetables from the ground was pretty misleading.

*Sigh*

Even if I still appeared in the middle of nowhere, this is still far better than the lair of a dragon. I mean that damned reptile almost burned me to death, if I was just half a second too late, I would be dead right now.

At least, a field means that there should be people cultivating it, right? I would far prefer the company of a farmer or peasant than a dragon, at least, they won’t try to kill me the second they see me… If they are human at least.

But I wonder what was that useless card which appeared on my hand at that time. Looking more closely at my hand, I realized that there was a strange tattoo which wasn’t present before.

A strange purple crest had appeared on the back of my hand. It was slightly glowing in a dark light as if it was alive, was that the effect of that card? This weird thing is beginning to scare me.

I tried to touch and pinch a little the tattoo, but it didn’t do anything at all. It felt like… well pinching my hand.

Putting this matter aside for now, I took one of the vegetables from the field and started eating. I don’t know how much time had passed since I first woke up in the cave, but my stomach is requesting some emergency back-up.

It was already midnight since I was in a cave I don’t know how much time passed since I was knocked out. But it must definitely have been a few hours since I wasn’t that hungry before.

The vegetables looked like a carrot, but green… And instead of growing in the ground, well it grows up like a tomato. I wonder if they are good to eat after all.

Since there are people growing them up, they must definitely be edible. Who would grow up a field made of poisonous vegetables after all?

Quickly eating my fill with those weird green carrot, I very soon became sated and my stomach was close to the explosion. Maybe it’s because I was very hungry, but those carrots were very delicious even eaten raw.

Looking a little around myself, I started to look for any trace of the farmer’s house. Not that I would tell him that I stole some of his crops, but I ain’t against a place to sleep in. Even a stable would be fine.

Haaaah… Why didn’t I appear in the middle of a castle with a beautiful princess which would come saying “Oh hero, we’ve been waiting for you. Please save us!” with moistened eyes.

I mean, isn’t that the strict minimum in this situation?

*Sigh* Complaining won’t give me a roof over my head…

“Whoooah!”

Turning my neck, I nearly had a heart attack. A large black thing was just in front of my head… If not for the fact that my fist passed through it, I would have definitely hit it. Luckily it wasn’t a human being, overwise for a first impression it would have been weird.

It was the black window from before. I don’t know for how long it had been waiting behind me, but it was just waiting for me to interact with it.

It was just floating right in front of me.

Despite being angry for letting me down in the cave, I was still quite curious about what it was. If not for the fact that I hadn’t read about the card effect, maybe it would have saved me. But who can affirm being able to stay cold headed while being chased by a dragon of the size of a mansion?

At least, I proved that I couldn't!

Even in the night, I could see it clearly, it was written in white characters which were shining in the night.

On the top of the window was written “Kishi Card”.

There weren’t any other indication or information. Not like I was awaiting an explanation or tutorial. I mean after being throw in a dragon’s lair, I feel like the karma is bullshiting me.

Just how many millions kitten did I kill in my previous life to deserve something like this?

As expected, the little drawing was still here… But, is it I or it look somewhat different?

I can’t remember what the previous one looked like, but I am sure it wasn’t the same as this one. It had some bright color like pink and red even if I don’t remember the exact form.

But this one, it looks like a remote control. A black remote control with a single button on it and an antenna. There’s also a small screen depicted on it and a few hearts around it. Beneath it was written “Love controller”.

Well, it can’t be something like THAT… Right?

Curious, I lightly touched the picture with my finger. A little light emanated from my hand and the next moment, I was holding a card with the same picture drawn on it.

Unable to process the information, I couldn’t help but make an haniwa-like face. I wiped out my drool with my right hand as the corner of my mouth couldn’t help but rise.

Remembering my primary objective: finding somewhere to sleep. I saw a small light shining a few minutes away from my position. It was after traveling toward it, I realized that it was a torch.

It was hanging on a wooden beam close to a single house.

It was the only house in the area like it was isolated from the rest of the world. It wasn’t a very large house, but it still was enough to contain a large family.

Looking at it closely, one could see that the inside was lightened. The occupants were probably still awake.

The house looked new and well maintained, not what you would expect from a farmer’s house. Maybe it still a recent building.

I grabbed the door knocker and knocked at the door.

It somehow felt weird of using it the doorknocker, I mean who ever used this in my world? Everyone have a doorbell, those things only served as door decorations.

The door suddenly opened a few seconds after, I didn’t even hear the footstep of someone walking.

The person before me was breathtaking…

It was a woman… A beautiful woman that was very hard to come by. She was taller than me, not that with this body it is hard to find someone taller than me. But she is, at least, one foot taller.

Her skin was in contrast a little pale, but it looked very smooth like silk. On the front, her black hairs were long enough to reach her ample breasts. Her chest wasn’t very big, but it definitely couldn’t be called small at all. It was at least a C cup.

The back of her hair were tied into a ponytail, almost reaching her bottom. It gave out the feeling of a very independent woman. Coupled with her sharp crystal-like black eyes, it was enough to melt the heart of any men she glanced at.

It was very hard to believe that a woman like this would live in a house like that.

I was mesmerized by her beauty. Before her, all the mannequin I saw on the television looked like ordinary girls.

It was her cold stare that brought me back to my mind. It was like her eyes were looking at every part of my body, for some reason her eyes made me shiver. Her eyes especially landed on my clothes which I forgot were tainted with blood.

“What do you want?” She coldly asked.

The tone of her voice somehow brought fear into my heart.

It’s not like I can blame her for being cold. If somehow knocked at my door at night with a shirt drenched with blood, I would probably close my door and call the cops.

“I-I am sorry for disturbing you at such a time, but do you have a free room?”

“No…”

She didn’t even take a second to think about it, without a second thought she completely rejected my demand.

“I am fine with even a stable or a cellar. I don’t have any problem with sleeping on the ground so please!”

She only stared at me, she didn’t need to say a single word for me to understand her answer.

“I definitely won’t disturb you or your family, so please just for a night!” I pleaded with moistened eyes.

“I am living alone, but the answer is still no. Now leave or I’ll make you leave by force.”

So she is living alone? It is strange that a woman as beautiful as her doesn’t even have a man in her life. But if that’s the case then…

With a single thought, the black window appeared in front of me and I took out the [ love controller ] from the deck. I crushed the card with my hand and a little remote control appeared instead.
