Linus’s POV Terry sat me down in the living room and began to speak. “Linus, I don’t want to sound like a jerk but you know nothing about being a god. I was looking at stuff in your god map while you were greeting the newly dead. The only thing you've done is send some messages. You did some good with the prophet. I think you named him Ren? Problem is you lost him.”
I felt myself shrink as Terry continued to berate me. “Currently your tribe is doomed to fail. There is no genetic diversity meaning you are going to have a tribe of incest ridden Kru.”
I had known this for a while but didn’t know what to do. So I had simply waited and hoped something would pop up and help me. Terry counties “Linus, I noticed you looked really surprised by magic. That is also something you will be educated on. So for our first lesson I will explain the magic of this world.”
Terry sat me down in a classroom that I had never seen before in my house. It was the standard 90s classroom. Terry stood at the front and began talking. “ In this world there are three types of magic. The one you saw was spiritual. Kru who use this are referred to as shamans. They rely on summoning spirits to fight. They can enter deals with these spirits that allow them to use their power in various ways.”
Terry cleared his throat before continuing. “ The second type of magic is internal. The Kru have not discovered this yet but it is simple and powerful. The user absorbs natural energy which is almost always in the air. I believe it was a popular topic in fiction from your world. It is referred to as mana. Once the user absorbs enough energy it forms a core in their chest. By refining the core and absorbing a lot of mana a internal magic user can increase in power. There are three stages to this power. The first is initiate, the second is journeyman and the third is Archmage. These magic users are collectively referred to as wizards.”
I felt extremely overwhelmed by the information but already was planning how to use it. Terry kept talking “ However, internal magic is not able to be used by everyone. Only about 1 in 100 Kru will be able to form a core. About 1 in 1000 will be able to refine it enough to become a journeyman. And of course about 1 in 100,000 can become an archmage. Of course there is still a lot of variety in power within each of the ranks but an archmage will always be stronger than a journeyman.”
My plans for an army of wizards fell apart but I held out hope. “The final form of magic is rune magic. This system has the user draw runes in the air using mana. They don’t need a core to do this and anyone can learn. However such users are inferior to even the weakest initiate.”
I held back from asking any questions as Terry kept talking. “Currently you have not really done anything to direct your followers. You have given them advancements but not how to use such advancements. I am here to give them some direction. So after sharing some of my knowledge I have a request.”

I was a bit confused at what Terry could want from me but listened intently. “ I would like to become a minor god. Someone who could help advance your society in the right direction. If you made me one I could choose a domain and begin work at once.”
I thought through the decision for a few seconds but didn’t see much benefit to refusing him. If I said no he might resent me. But if I said yes then he might use his power to replace me.
I looked him in the eye and after a few seconds went with my gut. “I’ll make you a god Terry. But on one condition!” He looked a bit confused but nodded so I continued. “Terry, if you become a minor god I pick your domain. And remember, I’m the boss. You might know more but this is my wolrd”
Terry seemed fine with this so he walked me through the steps of making him a god “First you have to put some of your blood into this cup. Then take all your divine energy and shove it into the blood. Since I’m already a divine being it will transform me into a god.”
I quickly grabbed a knife from the kitchen as well as a cup. Then I sliced my hand and watched the blood pool into the cup. In my domain I could control if something hurt or if it could even slice my skin. So I just made sure it didn’t hurt.
After there was enough blood I closed the wound and began gathering my energy. I had a strangely high amount of energy with so little of my Kru remaining.
After I poured all my energy into the blood Terry drank it. I expected some grand effect or ceremony. Instead his eyes glowed for a second then changed to a gold color. He turned to me and bowed. “What domain should I take, my lord.” I smiled at Terry as I had a great idea. “Terry, from now on, in this world you are the god of magic.”
Ren’s POV After almost a week of travel we made it to a fairly large island. While we only were a tribe of about 40 we were still large compared to others. As our canoes landed on the shore I began directing my new tribesmen. I was about to order them to set up a camp but a large male spoke out. “Why should we follow you? Your plan got half of us killed!”
I walked over to him and before he realized what was happening slammed his face into the sand. I picked his head up and slammed it into the ground once again.
I held him there for a few more seconds before getting up. As I walked away I kicked him in the side. I had no need for those who were disloyal. I would unite the isles. No Kru would get in my way.
As I began directing everyone, Rock and Stone volunteered to find a good place for a permanent camp. I grinned at my friend's enthusiasm. It was nice to have some truly loyal tribes people.
After they left I began dragging the canoes away from the beach. My new tribespeople were all resting. Most hadn’t slept since the escape. As I was about to join them I heard a voice in my head. I became excited thinking it was Lie-nes but it was something else. “Hello there Ren, I’m here to pass on a bit of knowledge.
