I woke up to see one of the ugliest creatures in the world shoving its nose into my race. I screamed trying to jump back then realizing I couldn't move. I stared at the strange creature as it continued to look at me.
The creature did not look like anything I had ever seen before. It had two normal looking eyes in the same spot a person would but it also had a third eye. The third eye was a sickly yellow color compared to the others and was placed right above the nose. The nose looked like a pig's nose. That was all I thought when I saw the nose. The entire face was covered in fur the color of dirt. Not like a nice deep brown like coffee, dirt brown. It had a normal mouth though.
All those thoughts rushed by in an instant as the strange creature got up and left. I was still staring into the foliage of trees and wondered what was going on. I coulda cursed but that wasn’t my thing. I always mentioned that to people as I was pretty proud of it. Not cursing was a bit of a status symbol for me.
I went to bed at around 10 last night after finally finishing my exams. I was ready to enter the working world and be disappointed that no one hired me. Instead I was in some rain-forest with a strange pig/monkey creature. I also couldn't move and could only see what was directly above me. Overall not the best situation to be in.
I tried moving my field of vision and managed to look down. I felt nauseous as I looked at where my body should have been. There was nothing there. When I looked down I should have seen my Oregon Trail shirt saying “You have died of dysentery”. Instead there was nothing there. Just a skull.
I began screaming and wailing. I couldn’t tell how much time passed. I couldn’t move and didn't try to. All I did was stare into the sky. I didn’t want to look at the skull. I didn't want to think about why I was some disembodied spirit.
Then the creature returned. I felt glad when it did. It was nice to have someone else next to me. Even if that someone was a strange bat/pig/ape. I hadn't seen it before but now that I could look around I saw the full creature.
It had the general shape of a human but different. Its legs were shaggy covers in the same wool-like fur as the rest of the body. The creature also had three arms. Two of the arms were decently normal but much longer than a humans. The creature was bipedal and its arms hung down to its knees. Its third arm was different. It hung all the way to its ankles.
Thankfully for me the hands of the creature were hands. Four fingers, a thumb and being able to pick stuff up with it. Except these guys had claws. Easily 4 inches long. They were retractable as the creature only shot them out when there was rustling in the bushes. The creature didn't move so I assumed nothing bad happened.

The creature appearing had helped distract me so I enjoyed his company. Until he picked up the skull and my field of vision moved.
I began mentally screaming once again but could do nothing but watch as it held me with the long arm. He walked for a long time. I took the opportunity to observe the area and I was amazed. The jungle was teeming with life. I saw a small cat creature shoot out it’s tongue like an iguana. I saw a dog the size of a house covered in blood. I named his species the Cliffords immediately and felt satisfied. No matter what no one could take away my horrible sense of humor. Not even the creature.
I grew bored of looking around so I simply sat back and enjoyed the ride. Dark had fallen by the time we arrived at the creature's home. It was a clearing where various nests of leaves had been splayed out. The clearing was next to a large cliff and I could hear some water trickling nearby. I didn't want to think about how I could hear water without ears so I just kept looking around. Although I didn't have eyes either.
Some animal bones and stones were scattered around but other than that there wasn't much. It was however full of creatures.About 2 dozen creatures were spread out around the clearing. They all looked at the one carrying me for a second before going back to doing whatever.
A small creature which I assumed was a juvenile ran up to my creature and gave what looked like a hug. It could also have been seen as a murder attempt but it looked affectionate to me.
I was placed in a small pile of other bones before my creature went off to do his thing. I wouldn’t be able to distinguish him later as with no real discernible traits he looked like all the others. So I wiped a silent tear from my nonexistent eye as he slowly walked away.
Since I was once again left alone but now distracted enough to not have an existential crisis I kept looking around. The creatures who would soon have to be named for convenience's sake seemed to be above chimps in intelligence. I could see one using a sharp stone to slowly sharpen a stick. It occasionally stabbed itself but otherwise it knew what it was doing.
I kept looking around but nothing interesting happened. They all just went about their daily lives. However after a while they all gathered together and one got up on a big stone and started speaking. Their communication was foreign to me but it seemed to be a rudimentary language. I was impressed as I didn’t think they were that smart.
The one talking looked familiar and with a start I realized it was my creature! I felt happy I had recognized him and gave myself a pat on the back. They kept talking so I sat back and began to think. I had most likely died as I was tied to a skull. That was one conclusion. On the other hand I could have been magically teleported here using a random skull. But why?
I had no special skills. Nothing worthy of being “the hero” of a story. Definitely not as a skull. So what was I supposed to do? Was I sent here to do something with the creatures? Maybe I was going to become the next one that was born. That might be interesting actually. Getting to catalog the rise of a species. I smirked at the thought of myself chasing Clifford for food and balked. Maybe being a skull wasn’t that bad. I didn't need food! Although mobility and interacting with the environment were a bit limited.
I brought myself out of the spiral to find all the creatures kow towing and my creature placing me on the big rock. I was understandably confused but went with it. Then as the last creature bowed down my mind exploded.
